Daily Fantasy College Football Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - Saturday Early 9/19/15
This is a massive slate of games and the college football gods (assuming you believe in such things, which we do) should be smiling down on the amount of potential scoring we've got. FanDuel and DraftKings scores could be in the upper register. We've got you covered with college football picks and lineups to get you started.
We're also selling lineups and cheatsheets for every CFB slate. This week they include 2 DraftKings and 2 FanDuel lineups along with a cheatsheet of write ups on a number of different players. They are $5 and are separate from our membership subscription. This season our 12 of our 13 FanDuel lineups have moneyed in cash games, and one won the FanDuel Redshirt tournament. Meanwhile 75% of our DraftKings lineups have hit in cash games. Don't miss out.
Quarterback
Wes Lunt
Wes Lunt entered the college scene as a top QB recruit and started as a true freshman for Oklahoma State. He has since transferred to Illinois and has steadily put up decent numbers. On the year Lunt has passed for 478 yards with 5 touchdowns and 1 pick. He hasn’t been called on all that much in the early going as Illinois chose to ease their way into the season with some favorable early matchups. This week they will travel to North Carolina to face Marquis Williams and the Tarheels. NC can be a little suspect on defense and they haven’t seen a QB with the skill set of Lunt thus far and may not the rest of the way. Vegas has set the line with Illinois being a 7pt dog with a total in low 60’s. That line bodes well for the Illinois signal caller. Excellent value on FD, but probably looking elsewhere on DK.
Matt Johnson
What I meant by looking elsewhere was looking at Matt Johnson. This cat has thrown for over 900 yards through two games and neither was against a powder puff opponent. Johnson seems to start off slow, but finds a rhythm and never looks back. Last week Johnson connected for a single touchdown pass late in the 2nd quarter, but still finished the day with 6 touchdown passes. Memphis, in my opinion, is largely underrated and specifically on the offensive side of the ball. Vegas pegged the total just above 80, which clearly indicates the type of opportunity to be found in this game. Johnson has plenty of receivers to catch the ball and should find himself attempting north of 50 passes once again. There is simply too much opportunity in this one.
Running Backs
Jordan Howard
Howard has been an absolute stud for the Hoosiers this year and makes my list for the second time in as many weeks. Howard didn’t score last week, but he still ripped off 159 yards on 27 carries. The workload is what has me all warm and fuzzy inside. Howard came in as the expected workhorse after transferring from UAB and has been just that. In two weeks Howard has received 50 touches and at 6'1" 230lbs it appears he is well equipped to handle the weekly pounding. Next up, the Hilltoppers from Western Kentucky who just got owned by Kenneth Dixon. WKU won the game, but they did allow Dixon to gash em for 168 yards and two scores (223 total rushing yards allowed). Im not sure Howard is quite at the talent level as Dixon, but if hes not it sure is close. WKU is going to have trouble stopping him and Indiana for that matter. The Hoosiers currently sit as -1.5 favorites with a total around 69, but I could see this game being a classic IND/WKU 51 – 50 barn burner. Two teams capable of a shootout. Thank you sir, may I have another.
Jahad Thomas
Don’t look now, but the Temple Hootie Owls are 2-0 and with two quality wins. Okay, so Penn State is clearly not Paterno's Nittany Lions, but they are still a major program. Plus going on the road to Cincinnati and coming away with an impressive win. Quality. The Bearcats have a real good passing game and Temple shut them down for most of the game. That tells me Temple has a legit defense and will generally keep them in the game. Keeping them in the game will keep Thomas in the game. Like Howard above, Thomas has been a workhorse back carrying the load for Temple. Through two games Jahad has 55 carries totaling 328 yards and 3 scores. PJ Walker has a gimpy shoulder and only attempted two rushes last week. This week should be similar and although Walker is still a threat to vulture some goal line work I wouldn’t be overly concerned. UMass got pounded on the ground last week by Colorado allowing 390 yards on the ground to go along with 5 rushing touchdowns. Look for Temple to handle their business again this Saturday and what I mean by that is hand off left and hand off right to Thomas.
Wide Receivers
Geronimo Allison
So to start I’m not sure how you can’t get on board with a guy named Geronimo. I feel like he should be in your lineup just so you can scream Geronimo when he scores. And score he will. I’m not in the business of making guarantees, but I’m putting this one out there, Allison will find pay dirt this week. North Carolina claims to have improved their defense, but I haven’t seen it yet and now they will face the best passing QB they may see all year. Lunt was a blue chip prospect who hasn’t quite lived up to the hype, but dude can still sling it. Allison leads Illinois in targets and It’s not particularly close. The total is around 62, but I think this game sees a bit more scoring than that. Look for Lunt to pass the ball all over the field with Allison being on the receiving end quite a few times. Great value on FD.
Taywan Taylor
Taylor is a regular recommend and for good reason. He plays for WKU and they like to pass, a lot. Leon Allen is lost for the year and although college programs deploy a "Next man up", mentality it's hard to replace a guy like Allen. Doughty looked sharp last week, but still only connected for one score, to Taylor by the way, and should be bombs away again this week against Indiana. The Hoosiers have been very lackluster at defending the pass this year and have allowed 7 passing touchdowns. Jared Dangerfield is still a lil gimpy which should give a little bump to Taylor's targets. They just lost their star back, have a QB starting to find his groove, and facing a defense that can't stop the pass. I like me some TT's.
Roger Lewis
Oh my man Roger Lewis, dude cost me quite a few Peso's opening week, but we need to have a very short memory in fantasy sports. Last week Lewis hauled in 15 passes for 200 yards and 2 scores, which was good for 50 DK fantasy points. Man, that stat line would have added some zero's to my payday, but hey, who's keeping track anyway. For the record Lewis had 2 grabs for only 49 yards week 1, I'm honestly not holding on to what could have been just putting it out there. Last week will be difficult to match, but this game seems to have all the right ingredients to do so. Vegas has Memphis as 3pt favorites with a total around 80. Say whaaa. That’s a ton of points. Assuming Vegas is right, cause they always are, there is more than enough opportunity in this game and his price wont prohibit you from completing your lineup. I promise if Lewis has a bad day I will quickly forget, just as I have with week 1, sort of, and will move on to the next slate. Seriously though, If you’re your lineup doesn’t have exposure to this game you will probably regret it. You’ve been warned.
Tight Ends
Tyler Higbee
If you aren’t spending up for Higbee you should drop down to the 2k range and close your eyes. Money seems easy enough that I will, gulp, take the plunge and spend at TE. Paying up for a TE is generally fools gold, but Higbee has the athletic ability to stretch the field in a high profile passing attack. Just do it.

You Spelled Roger Louis’ name wrong…just saying;)
Maybe you were thinking about qb C lewis
One more thing….I don’t see Matt Johnson in the available lineups
Thanks for the comments. Roger Lewis’ name is spelled correctly. Not exactly sure what you mean there. And re: Matt Johnson, he’s available on DraftKings, so am a little confused as to what you mean there as well.
Wes Lunt! Holy Cow!
