I mean that literally. He has other hobbies and interests besides those two things. And in a figurative sense, he's fallen victim to some blowup games for sure so it isn't like I'm calling him a lock. But on the season, his numbers have been excellent, striking out close to 10 batters per nine and keeping that xFIP just a shade under three. For me, there is really no other cash game play. I'm more than willing to live with the downside considering his prices. There's just too much upside when things are working. He's a money line favorite and the Twins are one of the worst teams in the league against righties. He'll be a popular start today and for good reason. Yordano Ventura - FD 8700 DK 7200 StarsDraft Opponent- CHC (Hendricks) R Park- @Chc This one is more of a GPP play/ second pitcher on DraftKings. Ventura has shown some ability to pile on strikeouts in a game, though it isn't a consistent thing with him. But he is striking out about 8.5 batters per nine on the season and has run a little bad with the ERA as it's about 3/4 a run higher than his ERA. The Cubs strike out a ton as a team against righties (about 24%) so there's some reason to believe Ventura could add an extra K or two in this one. Again, not a safe play, but his DK price is low enough that you can pair him with Kluber. Catchers Victor Martinez - FD 2600 DK 3400 StarsDraft 4600 Opponent- Tex (Lewis) R Park- @Tex At this point it's pretty clear he's playing through an injury this year as the overall numbers are way down. His OPS is only in the .600's which is way off his career numbers. Now some of that is BABIP related...

Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Gio Gonzalez - FD 9600 DK 8300 StarsDraft Opponent- Phi (Harang) R Park- @Was Normally I wouldn't recommend Gio because of his tendency to wet the bed (not literally, but you get the point) and really hurt me in my cash games. But I really like the matchup here, so I'm going to throw him out there with a little reservation. The Phillies are in the bottom third of wOBA and OPS against lefties, and in the top third in K% at over 22%. This lines up nicely for Gio since he's been a little better this year than his ERA suggests due to an unsustainably high BABIP. I see him having a high number of strikeouts in this one, and his matchup against Aaron Harang gives him a solid shot at the win. Don't say I didn't warn you if he drops a dud, but I'm expecting a strong outing here. John Lackey - FD 9000 DK 10000 StarsDraft This is a safer pick than Gio in my opinion, but doesn't present quite as much upside. Lackey doesn't possess great strikeout stuff, but makes up for it by going deep in games and having an ERA of 2.74. The matchup against the Brewers is terrific for a number of reasons. They're in the bottom half of league in OPS and wOBA against righties and in the top 10 in K%. The real kicker here is that the Cardinals are heavy favorites in this one because quite honestly Tyler Cravy isn't ready for the big leagues just yet. He's been getting lit up ever since he made the jump to the majors, and a Cardinals offense that's getting their bats back from injury should take advantage. I like Lackey for a solid performance and I definitely like him for a win. Henry Owens - FD 5900 DK 6600 StarsDraft Opponent- Bal (Jimenez) R Park- @Bos Strictly a tournament play only unless you're the boldest of risk takers. The O's have been horrible this year against lefties, and Owens already has a very strong performance against them in Camden Yards on the year. His numbers aren't amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but the price for potential here is undeniable. If you want to load up on bats today for a tournament, Owens is your guy. Catchers Buster Posey -...

Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, StarsDraft and DraftPot 9/26/15 This is a huge sports Saturday with a double slate of baseball plus college football going all day. Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Afternoon Slate Stephen Strasburg - FD 11000 DK 10700 StarsDraft Opponent- Phi (Nola) R Park- @Was I never stopped believing in you Stephen. I swear, it's been me and you buddy and there was never a doubt in my mind about your talent. Even when you were breaking my heart into a million little pieces earlier in the season, it wasn't doubt that caused me to throw remotes and huff around the house in a rage-filled stupor. It was just love. And now that love has been paid off the last couple of weeks as Strasburg returns to form. In his last three starts he's struck out 37 batters in 22 innings. That's elite stuff and he's looked dominant. Today he gets the Phillies, who will provide some spoiler stuff every once in a while, but I'm not worried about them today. Stras is a huge money line favorite on this slate and I don't see a reason to get away from him in cash games. I always believed in you buddy, keep paying off. Late Slate Julio Teheran - FD 8600 DK 8300 StarsDraft Opponent- Mia (Nicolino) L Park- @Mia I don't think you are going to need to pay up for King Felix on the late slate so hitting the mid tier of pitching should be an okay opportunity. The Marlins are dead last in the league against righty pitching this season and really have no threats to speak of. They are a light-hitting bunch and I'm actually a little surprised the money line is even in this game. It's not like the Braves are any great shakes, but this one seems like Teheran should be more of a favorite for the win. He's been solid over the last four starts, finally finding some of the strikeout stuff. He needs to limit the walks to stick around in the game. The ballpark helps for sure as it depresses power all around. Teheran and others in his price tier will allow you to spend up for some of the bats going...
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, StarsDraft and DraftPot 9/24/15
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, StarsDraft and DraftPot 9/24/15 I've had a nice week or so off from writing the baseball picks while James took over the duties. It literally almost killed him as he emailed me sometime on Monday night complaining of dehydration and a variety of other ailments. I had to come out of the bullpen to write up a couple of guys that night? Did he say thank you? No, much in the same ways the Yankees never "thanked" Mariano for all those saves through the years. I'm reliable and he knew I could close it out. If you want the rest? Go ahead and get access to the exclusive projection system that produces these picks. Sign up now and get a free 3 day trial to our lineup construction tool for FanDuel, DraftKings and Victiv. Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Early Slate Clayton Kershaw - FD 13100 DK 14700 StarsDraft ` L Park- @Lad It's going to be awfully tough fading him on this early slate even with the big price tag. Clayton is Clayton and he's just about the best. This doesn't guarantee a great result every time out of course. He's been merely great and not actually Hall of Fame elite over the last couple of games. The Diamondbacks aren't pushovers against lefties and have a couple of guys in that lineup who are fantastic in this platoon. But no other pitcher on the slate is anywhere really close to Kershaw so it becomes a matter of whether you play him or stack the game in Coors. For cash games, I'd take the pitcher points, but I admit it's close. I think you see lineups go one of two ways and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Consider Patrick Corbin on the cheaper side of things if you want to do the aforementioned Coors stack Late Slate Madison Bumgarner - FD 12800 DK 12200 StarsDraft Opponent- SD (Kennedy) R Park- @SD The most expensive option on the slate, but I think you can roll him in most cash games. He's a -150 ML favorite going against the Padres and it's only that low because Ian Kennedy pitches a decent game every once in a while. Everything else is going right for Bumgarner. The Padres, for such a righty-heavy lineup, rank in the bottom third of the league in team wOBA against lefties and strike out 23% of the time. Plus the ballpark will help depressing any semblance of a run. It's a little expensive for sure, but this late in the season there is always value in the bats elsewhere in the...

Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Max Scherzer - FD 11000 DK 12400 StarsDraft Opponent- Bal (Tillman) R Park- @Was So much damned juicy big named pitching tonight, it's hard to know where to begin. Max gets the nod for me, well, because our projection system likes him best. But the reasons it like him best are probably what are interesting to you, so here goes. The Orioles are actually quite tough on right handed pitching, so this might not be what you'd call the safest play ever, but they also come with a lot of built in upside for opposing pitchers due to their huge strikeout rate. Their 23% strikeout percentage against right handed pitching is the 3rd highest in the majors, and you can believe that number will be higher when Max attacks. You know what you're getting in Scherzer by now - the majors' 4th highest K/9 and the 10th best xFIP, AND the third lowest walk rate in the majors. Throw in a nice match-up with the late Chris Tillman, and we're all systems go on this one. Corey Kluber - FD 10100 DK 12300 StarsDraft Opponent- Min (Hughes) R Park- @Min Kluber is a really solid 1a. option to the Big Scherz tonight. Kluber actually has a better xFIP than Scherzer, but he gives a little back fantasy-wise with a lower K/9 and a slightly higher BB/9. You could even argue that Kluber has the better match-up, here. He'll face the Twins, who have the 8th highest K rate, but the 5th lowest wOBA against righties. I think you could make a very strong case that this is the safer play, but I don't think he has quite the upside Scherzer does. Still, if you wanted to...
