Now let's start looking at the baseball season. The deal with platoon splits If you have any experience whatsoever with daily fantasy baseball, you'll know that paying attention to righty/lefty match-ups is one of the principle backbones of setting an MLB DFS lineup. Almost all players in baseball are better when hitting against pitchers of the opposite handedness (though there are a few notable exceptions, like Adam Jones), and some players have an absolutely enormous split. But wading through this information isn't as easy as just taking right handed hitters against left handed pitchers and calling it a day. Let's get to it. First of all, not all platoon splits are created equally, and this should dramatically change how we look at each player. Let's look at a couple of examples. The relatively normal case of David Ortiz Ortiz had a 1.008 OPS against right handed pitchers last year, and a .703 OPS against lefties. This means that he had a better line against right handed pitching than Mike Trout has had for his career, but was about as good as David Eckstein's career line against lefties. Naturally, this meant Ortiz was unplayable against left handed pitching at basically any price, and very attractive against right handed pitching. But it also meant a little bit more. Wide platoon splits are a blessing and a curse So, yes, in general David Ortiz was a great play when he was up against right handed pitching. But there was more to this than first meets the eye. First of all, there was Ortiz's price. Ortiz's absolutely pathetic approach to lefties last year actually made him a better value against right handed pitching, because the various daily fantasy baseball sites...

Pts - 28.9 DK Proj. Pts - 30.44 Memphis’ Mike Conley should have success against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers have been dreadful this season, and the stats don’t lie in that regard. Currently, Philly’s performance against point guards is trending downward. Kendall Marshall and TJ McConnell split time at the point guard spot for Philadelphia which doesn't bode well for their dfensive chances. Conley has had a nice stretch of late, scoring 20 points in each of his last 2 games, and averaged 28.9 points in Fanduel and 30.44 in DraftKings. Expect him to continue his good play against the hapless Sixers. Jameer Nelson - FD 4600 DK 5400 Opponent - LAL FD Proj. Pts - 22.4 DK Proj. Pts - 24.89 Nelson is still filling in for Mudiay and getting all the minutes he'd ever nedd. The Lakers haven’t played well against anyone and that includes point guards. They are currently the worst in the league in giving up fantasy points to point guards. Nelson who had a solid 15 point performance in 37 minutes against New Orleans, could take advantage against the Lakers. Nelson has scored in double figures in each of the last 5 games. Louis Williams will likely see the most action against Nelson. Goran Dragic - FD 5800 DK 5500 Opponent - DET FD Proj. Pts - 26.16 DK Proj. Pts - 27.56 Dragic could have a tough matchup against Reggie Jackson, who is the 4th ranked point guard in the league efficiency-wise. Dragic is averaging 11.3 points which is slightly lower than his career average of 12.6. The dropoff is really noticeable concerning 3-pointers. The Yugoslav is a career .357 3-point shooter but this year is only shooting .277 from behind the arc. Dragic could have a tough time reaching his Fanduel average...

Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial I was going to write a detailed analysis of why you shouldn’t ignore RB-WR stacks, or other negative correlations. But in light of the recent industry news, I’ll sum it up quickly: RB-WR and other negatively correlated same-team stacks shouldn’t be avoided in tournaments provided each player is a good value independent of the other. When a RB or WR gains yardage, it keeps the offense on the field and creates a synergistic effect where both players have more opportunities to rack up volume and score TDs, which is what happened with DeAngelo Williams and Antonio Brown in Week 9. Now, as you probably know, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman declared Tuesday that daily fantasy sports constitute illegal gambling in the state and ordered DraftKings and FanDuel to stop running games in the state. I’m a New Yorker. Even if you’re not, your state could be next. Hopefully we can all continue to play the game we love. QUARTERBACKS Tom Brady - FD 9100 DK 8600 Opponent- NYG The overall fantasy QB1, Brady travels to the Meadowlands to take on a Giants defense allowing the second-most passing yards per game in the NFL (308). Brady himself is third in the league in passing yards per game (338.6). The Patriots team total is hovering around 31, and Brady has been in on 77 percent of the Patriots offensive touchdowns this season. Aaron Rodgers - FD 9200 DK 7500 Opponent- DET With Randall Cobb (shoulder) and Davante Adams (ankle) appearing to be over nagging early-season injuries, now makes a good time to buy in on Rodgers against a Lions defense ranked in the bottom-five in terms of fantasy points per game allowed to QBs. Rodgers’ price is down $1,100 on DraftKings and $500 on FanDuel from when the season began. The Packers have a Vegas implied total of 29.5, and Rodgers has accounted for 83 percent of Packers offensive TDs this season. Blake Bortles - FD 7800 DK 5600 Opponent- BAL...

Pts - 47 DK Proj. Pts - 48.65 On the 2nd night of a back to back, and the 3rd game in 4 nights, one has to imagine that the Thunder are smart enough to give Durant a little room to catch his breath. An extra minute or three before coming back in, an earlier exit in the third - stuff like that. And the thing is? Our projection system thinks you can probably play Westbrook here even if that isn't the case. Even with Durant playing full minutes, Westbrook has had a ridiculous 40% usage rate through his first 84 minutes on the season. And he's still doing the rest of his God-mode stuff, like wrestling rebounds away from guys twice his size, clogging passing lanes, and so on. Meanwhile, Houston has been an absolute mess in all phases of the game, and a back-court of Harden and Lawson is a lot less intimidating for opposing guards than the Beverley/Harden duo the Rockets featured last season. You're obviously paying up here, put even with that caveat, I think you can justify playing Westbrook in every format. Mo Williams - FD 5500 DK 5300 Opponent - PHI FD Proj. Pts - 28.2 DK Proj. Pts - 30.46 It's a risk to play Williams when you look at how his minutes have taken a hit in the Cavs' recent two blow-outs, but on a short slate like this, the reward may well be worth it. Williams played 37 minutes in their opener against the Bulls, and while you might not be able to lock him in for 37 a game going...
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and Starsdraft 10/21/15
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and Starsdraft 10/21/15 Another night of playoff baseball, another night of... pretty darned similar picks. Sorry, there just isn't a lot we can do with the same teams playing the same opponents in pretty much the same ballparks. There will be a few slight differences, though. Enjoy! If you're new to the playoff picks, I'll be giving you one play per position to whet your appetite. You can also grab a free trial of the projection system that makes these picks possible. Your free trial also includes access to our NFL and NHL tools - so get started today! Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Jason Hammel - FD 7900 DK 8100 Opponent- NYM (Matz) L Park- @Chc If there was ever a day when you can go cheap and load up on some bats with these short, playoff slates then this is the one. No pitcher on FanDuel is more than 9K. And for our purposes here, I think you can take a chance on the cheapest of the bunch. When you look through Hammel's game log, it sure doesn't inspire a ton of confidence, though his season peripherals do. He struck out more than a batter an inning, walked around two per nine and put up an xFIP in the very low 3's. Those numbers give me just enough of a glimmer of hope that he can pay off this salary. I know Estrada is the biggest money line favorite, but whenever possible I'd rather take the NL guy if for nothing else but they get to face the pitcher's slot. With that in mind, if you don't go with Hammel, I'd rock Steven Matz for many of the same reasons. It's very much between those two guys for me. Editor's Note: With these two game slates you are going to see a lot of repeat plays. There's no way to avoid it and the narratives don't change too much as long as the prices stay put. So please don't hate on the repeats here. There are only so many words. Catchers Salvador Perez - FD 2400 DK 3300 Opponent- Tor (Estrada) R Park- @Tor Been a mainstay in these picks over the last week and it's not about to change today. There's definitely a case to be made for Russell Martin as well (and a Blue Jays' stack in general) but I'll opt to go cheap from the catcher's slot and load up in some other areas. Perez contributed to the onslaught of Royals' runs yesterday going 1-3 from a walk and a run scored before giving way to Butera late game. Go...
