He has won here three times including last year, 2015, and he also picked up his first career win here back in 2010. On top of that, he has five other Top 10's(8 total) and has finished T16 or better in nine of 10 trips. While the course history is spectacular, the form is not quite there as he is coming off back-to-back missed cuts at the Masters and Players Championship. His course history will definitely drive 20%+ GPP ownership so I am aiming to be lower than the field as I love balanced builds a little bit more this week but you can never deny the huge upside for Rory, especially here at Quail Hollow. Gary Woodland World Golf Ranking (#83) Vegas Odds (80/1) DraftKings ($7,600) FanDuel ($9,400) Woodland and Quail Hollow weren't exactly friends early on as his first three trips resulted in a 73rd, T68, and T61 but since then things have been much better. He has tallied Top 25 finishes in four of his last five trips(remove the WD in 2019) including two Top 5's, one of which came last year. The veteran isn't coming in with the greatest form but for the price I am not complaining as he has made the cut in five straight and eight of his last nine events and is 5th in this field in ball striking over the last 24 rounds....

The Course TPC Potomac @ Avenel Farm Par 70 - 7,160 Yards Greens - Bentgrass **Click the image above to see a hole by hole breakdown from PGATour.com** Welcome back golf fans. As you can see above, this season's Wells Fargo Championship will look a little different as Quail Hollow will not host the event for the first time since 2003 as they will host the 2022 Presidents Cup. Taking its place for this season will TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm which last hosted a PGA Tour event in 2018 with the Quick Loans National where Francesco Molinari took home the trophy. Despite what his winning score of -21 says, the course does not play that easy and it shows as only seven players hit double-digit under par and the course ranked 14th hardest among the non-major venues in 2018. Looking a little closer at the course to help formulate a stats model on the sheet, we have a fairly demanding course off the tee with smaller than average fairways and thicker Kentucky Bluegrass rough and water in play on 10 of the 18 holes. Golfers will then approach very small bentgrass greens that run faster than the tour average(listed at 12.5 on the stimp). What this tells me is that you will have to be very accurate off the tee or have an excellent approach game from the rough or possibly both(lol). Molinari's win in 2018 was driven by his elite ball-striking as he hit a field-leading 75% fairways and 86% greens in regulation. With very small and very fast greens, I will also be factoring in that the field will likely be hitting a below-average number of greens which elevates the importance of scrambling/SG: around the green. When looking at my top stats each week, there are rarely players who check every box so I...

The Course Quail Hollow Club Par 71 - 7,600 Yards Greens - Bermuda **Click the image above to see a hole by hole breakdown from PGATour.com** Previous Five Winners 2019 - Max Homa(-15) 2018 - Jason Day(-12) 2016 - James Hahn(-9) 2015 - Rory McIlroy(-21) 2014 - J.B. Holmes(-14) This week the PGA Tour heads back to Quail Hollow Club for the Wells Fargo Championship for the first time since 2019 after last years event was canceled due to the pandemic. A very strong field including seven of the Top 10 in the World will take on the beast that is Quail Hollow Club. It has ranked Top 10 hardest courses on Tour(including majors) in three straight and four of the last five times it has hosted this event. I say that because in 2017 it was Eagle Point hosting the event while Quail Hollow prepared for the PGA Championship. The first thing that jumps off the page when looking at the Par 71 setup is the 7,600 yards listed on the scorecard meaning you best be wearing your big boy pants this week if you seek to contend. Looking at the last two Wells Fargo Championships(2019, 2018) only two players who finished Top 10 averaged under 300 yards off the tee, and those who finished Top 5 averaged just over 312 yards off the tee. When breaking down Strokes Gained: Ball Striking, Driving Distance is right up there this week. Not only do you need to be long off the tee but you better be good with the long irons as well with three of the four Par 3's coming in over 200 yards including the monster 249 yard 6th hole. That leads into some of the hardest Par 4's on Tour with eight over 450 yards, five over 480 yards, and three over 500!! Strokes...

Wells Fargo Championship After a week off from the regular stroke-play events, we are back to break down the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship. The field is strong at the top once again, led by three of the World's Top 10 golfers in Justin Rose(#2), Rory McIlroy(#4), and Rickie Fowler(#10). When analyzing course history this week, there are some things to keep in mind. First of all, you will see on my sheet that I have five years history but left out 2017. That is because Quail Hollow hosted the PGA Championship while Eagle Point was the one year host of this event. I have included the 2017 PGA leaderboard on my sheet for reference as well. The other big thing to note is that the course was reconstructed and went from a Par 72(pre-2017) to a Par 71. With the changes, the course played as one of the hardest courses on Tour a year ago, the first Wells Fargo Championship since the reconstruction. Check out the changes in the video below. As you will see in the course breakdown below, nine of the 11 Par 4 holes are listed at 449 yards or longer with five of them exceeding 475 yards in length. This puts a ton of emphasis on bombers this week and/or players who are on point with their long irons. I will also be weighing Par 4 scoring over Par 5 scoring this week and looking at the results from last year help paint the picture. All but one player who finished Top 10 in Strokes Gained: Par 4 finished the tournament Top 10 including the winner Jason Day. While the Top 3 players in Par 5 scoring all finished Top 10 including Jason Day, there were only four overall with four finishing outside the Top 20 and one missing the cut. The trends can be found going back to...
