Want picks for FanDuel, Draftster, and Draftday as well? Check em out. Week 5 is officially part of the data archives. I believe it was one of the best weekends ever for the daily fantasy community, namely thanks to DraftKings and their Millionaire Maker tournament. There seemed to be an invasion of new players aiming their sights on the seven-figure pay out. My hopes are that the new amateurs are officially addicted and will continue to flood the market…even though a well-known DF pro (user name: SamENole) came away with the victory and the million dollar first prize. Coincidentally, SamENole, also a professional poker player, lives in the same area as myself and plays cards at the same Hard Rock casino. I am sure I have shared a flop or two with this character, but don’t know him well enough to declare the next round is most definitely on him! Nevertheless, he entered approximately 60 lineups this week and found the ultimate pay dirt (P.S. I will further detail his winning lineup later in this post). Congratulations SamENole, it was the chance of a lifetime! Oh wait, no it wasn’t!? Breaking news!!! DraftKings are offering another Millionaire Maker! When you ask?! This week!! This is not a joke; immediately after week 5’s Millionaire Maker capped out at the maximum of 92,400 entrants (which equates to $184,800 in DK rake), DraftKings decided to offer the exact same contest in week 6. An extremely bold move considering they had been advertising the first Millionaire Maker for over a month and had been offering non-stop satellites all year. Now, DK will have only 6 short days to achieve the required 92,000+ entrants. I can only speculate that the influx of new players outweighs the possibility of losing a few thousand dollars (possibly closer to $100,000) on a guaranteed prize pool. Regardless, its win-win for us as the daring bid could result in some nice overlay while continuing to attract new DF players. Fortune favors...

Enjoy!   Quarterbacks Russell Wilson - FD 8400 DK 7600 DD 14050 DFSTR 7600 Good thing you weren't on the phone with me and Doug last week, when I declared to him - "I think everyone who plays Russell Wilson in a GPP this week should just send me 80% of their buy-in and keep 20%. The guy has literally no upside." So, yeah. You weren't on the phone. So that's just hearsay, or something. Anyway! Our projection system is head over heels for Wilson in a match-up against the Cowboys' defense, who were terrible against the pass last year, and merely bad this year....

Sleepers – Daily Fantasy Football Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, DraftDay and Draftster for Week 5

A peek ahead at week 5 Looking for the week 5 picks? Follow the link! I go position by position and give you whom I believe to be the best plays, dollar for dollar, for Week 5's games. This article is going to be a little bit different. Instead, I'm going to focus on particular lineup formation strategies that might help you get some separation from the field and get those value plays and sleepers that will let you spend money elsewhere while cashing in for cheap.   Sleepers Weekly disclaimer: The whole concept of a sleeper in one week fantasy football games needs to be adjusted. First of all, there's no real such thing as a "sleeper," in that you're not really going to sleep on a guy until he wakes up. What you're looking at with cheap plays are guys who are priced very reasonably who could go off if all things break right. Sniffing out the best cheap plays with upside is really the only way to have a chance in hell at taking down some of these utterly massive NFL tournaments. You'll pay up for the big names, and then hope your bargain plays pay off. That's where we come in - here are some sleepers that we love for Week 5. Andrew Hawkins - FD 5300 DK 3500 DD 9950 DFSTR 4400 Rueben Randle - FD 5400 DK 3900 DD 8950 DFSTR 4100 We highlighted these guys in our week 5 picks article, but I just don't want you to miss them here. Both are bargain price guys getting the amount of looks that you'd expect from a WR2. I like Randle better than Hawkins for GPPs due to red zone usage, but am more confident in Hawkins' role in the offense. For more in depth write-ups, check out that article. Khiry Robinson - FD 4900 DK 3000...

Daily Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks – DraftKings Cash vs GPP

Want picks for FanDuel, Draftster, and Draftday as well? Check em out. It has been three and a half years since I played in my first daily fantasy football league contest. I heard about daily fantasy (DF) while listening to the XM radio station dedicated to fantasy sports (what a sweet radio gig). The initial week I deposited $100 and fumbled through the user interface of DraftStreet (which was bought by DraftKings this year). I had no idea what I was getting into, but within 30 minutes I knew I had found my next obsession. My first week was as close to perfect as possible, winning every contest I entered. Yet, even a perfect week does not equate to much profit when investing a meager $100 and sticking to double up and triple up formats. I would have scoffed at the idea of making 10 - 15 thousand dollars in a single day playing fantasy sports but soon realized that this was a reality for some DF sharks. It wasn’t till my second year of playing that I discovered the chance that a single lucky soul would have a chance to win a million bucks in a single DF contest. This blew my mind and still does to this very day. Not just the fact that a person could make a million in a single week from playing something as childish as fantasy football, but the extreme level of stress and excitement that comes on Monday Night Football. No matter the score, every last second of the game counts for us DF junkies. So here we are, week 5 of the 2014 NFL season, and DraftKings is offering a single contest where the winner gets, yes, $1,000,000 American dollars. With a possible field of 92,400 entrants, where some DK high-rollers are entering upwards of 100 to 200 times (only $27 per entry), this event is sure to attract every level of fantasy football fanatic. The difference between first place and second place...

Daily Fantasy Football Picks for Week 5 – Draftster

Daily Fantasy Football Picks for Week 5 - Draftster Welcome, Draftster fans! If you haven't heard of Draftster yet, you're in luck. They're a forward thinking player in this space, and we think they're destined to make some huge waves. They also have a couple thousand bucks in freerolls every week, and they're still small enough that you can get in on the ground floor. Sick deal.   Quarterbacks First of all, we wrote our main week 5 picks article on Wednesday, and a lot of guys there will have overlap here. This article is specifically for value guys on Draftster. From that article, we also like Roethlisberger, Brees, and Fitzpatrick on Draftster as well. Tony Romo - 5200 This one is geared largely from Romo's price. At 5200, he's priced in the same range as Geno Smith and Andy Dalton. Romo looked utterly poised against New Orleans, going off for 262 yards and 3 touches before Dallas transitioned into the running game more actively. The really neat thing about Romo is that he actually gets a ton of opportunity in the red zone in spite of Demarco Murray's presence. The Cowboys have tried 17 passes vs. 11 runs down there this season. Now, the Texans pass rush is pretty damned fierce, but again, we're going on price here. It's not a "safe play" by any means, but this an absolutely fantastic value for a guy that can put up QB1 numbers. Philip Rivers - 7500 Rivers absolutely pummeled the Jags last week, and while he is squaring off against a much tougher defense overall this week, I like him nonetheless. Here's the thing - the Chargers have been desperately terrible on the run this year, and the Jets have been fantastic against it. The Chargers will not be running this week. They'll keep the ball in the air, and Rivers will see as much volume as any quarterback in the league at a price that doesn't reflect his upside.     Running Backs From our main week 5 picks article, we still like McCoy, Forte, and Jennings on Draftster. Here are some other picks to go with them....
