Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Hisashi Iwakuma - FD 9400 DK 8500 Victiv Opponent- Col (Bettis) R Park- @Sea As we've been over before, the Rockies are a much different hitting team when they are on the road. In fact, they stink. Outside of Coors the Rockies are one of the worst hitting teams in the league. And today they head into Safeco Field, one of the best pitcher's parks in all of baseball. Iwakuma isn't a big K guy, but he makes up for it some by limiting the walks. That helps with his xFIP which at 3.51 is a half run lower than the ERA. He's a solid -170 ML favorite in this one and though you are paying up a little too much for a guy without elite K stuff, the matchup and park tell the story on him today. Kyle Hendricks - FD 7700 DK 7200 Victiv Opponent- Phi (Asher) R Park- @Phi The recent game log doesn't tell the story of a pitcher you want to throw out in cash games. But there are some reasons to like Hendricks today. He's facing a light-hitting Phillies' squad who while improved in the second half for sure, are still nothing more than a below average offense. They aren't a bottom-feeding team by any means, but they aren't all that good either. Hendricks is a -200 ML favorite and brings solid peripherals into the game with a K rate close to eight per nine and a mid 3's xFIP. Not a great ballpark, but is the biggest favorite for the win on the day. Justin Verlander - FD 8800 DK 9400 Victiv Opponent- Cle (Anderson) R Park- @Cle I feel like I've written this almost every time he's pitched over the last month or so, but Verlander's been a totally different pitcher in the second half of the season. He's upped the K's to about eight per nine, and is rocking an elite 5:1 K:BB ratio in that time. So I like him in a vacuum. I don't love the matchup with the Indians who are an average team against righties and really don't strike out all that much. Verlander won't kill you on price, so there's some room for error. But not much. This is more about the day's pitching slate being tough sledding. Catchers Russell Martin - FD...

Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Oof, and I thought pitching was a rough shout yesterday. Today it's all over the place. The quality arms seem ridiculously overpriced and the midrange guys make me want to puke. Felix Hernandez - FD 11000 DK 11100 Victiv Opponent- Tex (Holland) L Park- @Sea I want to preface this by saying the pitching today almost makes the slate a stayaway for me. The pricing is very tough and the expectation just might not be there to consider anyone truly safe. It's a lot like how I felt yesterday. Hernandez has strung together a couple of quality starts in a row and his season peripherals, while not King Felix-like, are still fine enough. He's expensive for his K rate at this point, as he's putting down less than a batter an inning. And the Rangers are a competitive offensive team against righties. But the park helps Felix and he's just a smidge cheaper than Arrieta here. I'll take the slight savings and find value in some bats further down. Danny Salazar - FD 9400 DK 10600 Victiv Opponent- Det (Simon) R Park- @Cle The good first: Salazar has struck out more than 10 batters per nine this season and his 3.21 xFIP looks awfully good coming at these prices. He's actually limited the walks (for him) to about two and a half per nine. Those numbers, in the aggregate are pretty tight. Now the bad: dude either has it or very much does not have it. And there isn't often an in between. He's susceptible to big, soul-shattering innings and is facing a very tough Tigers' team who ranks in the top ten against righties this season. Salazar has extreme K-upside and has been able to keep it together over the last month or so. Might be the best per dollar deal on the day. Consider Luis Severino coming cheap on FanDuel, but don't be fooled by the low 2's ERA. His xFIP is in the high 3's. Catchers Yan Gomes - FD 2300 DK 3200 Victiv 5000 Opponent- Det (Simon) R Park- @Cle More about the lack of real catching prospects on this slate than any real confidence in him doing something on the positive end of things. Gomes is player who puts on the catching gear nearly everyday and sits behind the plate. Every once in...
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, StarsDraft and DraftPot 9/9/15
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, StarsDraft and DraftPot 9/9/15 Let's get right to Wednesday's picks for an almost full slate (thanks for playing early Cubs and Cards). The pitching is going to let you spend up for some bats here which could mean for some interesting scores at the end of the day. If you want the rest? Go ahead and get access to the exclusive projection system that produces these picks. Sign up now and get a free 3 day trial to our lineup construction tool for FanDuel, DraftKings and Victiv. Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers James Shields - FD 8500 DK 9400 Victiv Opponent- Col (Rusin) L Park- @Sd My man is anything but safe, that's for sure. He's been crushed all seasons by the long ball, a trend that doesn't look like simply a blip on the radar. His Hr/FB ratio is an absurd 17.7%. He's also walking far too many batters. Those two things are a lethal combination (the kind of lethal where he's getting killed) and they've sunk his season as compared to the contract. So why am I putting him this high up in the picks? Well, he's facing a Rockies team that ranks third to last in the league on the road this season. When they get away from Coors, it gets awfully pedestrian for this squad. And Shields does have strikeout stuff. If he can avoid the dong at home in San Diego then I think his salary makes it worth the risk. And some of the other pitching prospects on this slate have their own issues. Julio Teheran - FD 8000 DK 8500 Victiv Opponent- Phi (Buchanan) R Park- @Phi I get that the Phillies have had fits and starts of offensive production lately, but they still aren't necessarily a dynamic offense in the aggregate. Teheran is in the middle tier of pricing which is where I think you almost need to go on this slate. Paying up for Strasburg or deGrom feels like it can go horribly for each and I'm not positive their downsides outweigh the price tags especially in facing each other. Teheran's struggled some this season, though if he can limit the walks he's able to go deep enough into games to pay these price tags. Again, this is more about the state of today's pitching than it is about any real confidence in Teheran. But I think the floor is high enough to play in cash games. Catchers Buster Posey - FD 3600 DK 4700 Victiv 5400 Opponent- Ari (Godley) R Park- @Ari Because under almost no circumstance are you going to be paying through the roof...

Pitchers There are a bunch of good arms going on this slate and yet I'm struggling to find the ones who truly stand out for their respective prices. The struggle is real here. You can play Clayton Kershaw of course, but you'll struggle to make any kind of decent lineup around his exorbitant price. You've also go Matt Harvey on a possible innings cap. So where does that leave us? Sonny Gray - FD 10200 DK 10500 Victiv Opponent- Hou (Kazmir) L Park- @Oak Cole Hamels - FD 10600 DK 10300 Victiv Opponent- Sea (Walker) R Park- @Sea How about these two guys? Our system has them in basically lock step in terms of value on this slate. They aren't flying off the page as must starts mind you, but they each have decent matchups all things considered. Sonny Gray's facing an Astros team that strike out more than 24% of the time against righties. Now they can get after pitchers for sure, but the top of their lineup is very righty dominant. Now understand that Gray is overpriced because of an ERA that's running hot as compared to the xFIP. Be wary here as he's priced like an ace, but isn't exactly in that tier. Meanwhile, Hamels is in a similar scenario. He's facing a Mariners team ranked about league average against lefty pitching this season. They have some righties who can put some hurt on lefties, but as a team they also strike out more than 22% of the time in this split. Hamels has much better strikeout stuff than Gray, but he also walks more batters. He is going today in a pitcher's park and is a favorite for the win. If I had to pick between the two I'd probably go Hamels because he seems just a tad safer. But that's all relative. On FanDuel you can really consider play Aaron Nola. He's coming very cheap His peripherals are just at the point where there are hints of strikeout upside and he can limit the walks. The Braves are the pits against righty pitching this season (though they don't K a great deal). He's an interesting tournament play. Catchers Jonathan Lucroy - FD 3300 DK 4100 Victiv 4900 Opponent- Mia (Conley) L Park- @Mia We lived through much of the lean Lucroy time a month or so ago when the price had dropped to...

Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and Starsdraft 9/7/15 Labor Day is here! Kids up here in the Northeast are headed back to school (suckers), and we get a full slate of Monday baseball to watch while trying to piece together exactly what we're supposed to be celebrating on Labor Day, anyway. To that end, this really is a huge slate of baseball. I'll give you a few great plays for the day, but there's no way I could get to every playable guy with any sort of reasonable analysis. Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Pitchers Max Scherzer - FD 10800 DK 12400 Victiv Opponent- NYM (Niese) L Park- @Was This is just a phenomenal value spot for your 50/50s and double-ups. Max hasn't had a win since July, which has greatly depressed his price compared to the kind of pitching he's capable of. This is a good thing for us daily fantasy baseball players. Scherzer is an ace's ace for fantasy purposes - his 10.71 K/9 is the fourth best in the majors among qualified starters, and his 2.96 xFIP is good for 8th. He'll also face the Mets, who, in spite of their recent successes, have still been generally bad against right handed pitching all season. They have the 7th lowest wOBA vs. righties, and are in the top half of the league for strikeout percentage as well. Scherzer's priced as something just under a top tier ace, making him a tremendous value for your 50/50s and double-ups today. Michael Wacha - FD 9400 DK 10300 Victiv Opponent- Chc (Haren) R Park- @Stl Wacha had been one of the most consistent daily fantasy performers for a good stretch before missing a start to get a little rest as we head into September. Well, this is a nice match-up to walk back into. The Cubs have struck out an astronomical 24% of the time (just .1% off the league leading Astros), and have also been worse on the road by any offensive metric. They'll also be trotting out Dan Haren - a shell of his former self, who is sporting the league's 6th worst xFIP. If for some reason you decide to fade Scherzer (I wouldn't), I think Wacha makes for an interesting 50/50 play, but really I think there's a lot of upside here for any format given the opponent.
