Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/28/16
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/28/16 Hello and welcome to another Wednesday of NHL action. Today we have an awesome five game slate, and Pittsburgh is the only team playing in back to back games, but that shouldn't be a factor as everyone should be well rested from the holiday break. MAKE NHL and NFL LINEUPS NOW! GOALIES Matthew Murray FD - $9300 DK - $8400 Opponent - CAR Proj Pts FD - 18.53 DK - 4.63 Today's slate is slightly difficult from a goalie perspective because we have Carey Price playing on the road in Tampa Bay where the Habs notoriously struggle from year to year, and they are much better at home. A large majority of the rest are simply just bad, they have bad matchups, and/or their teams aren't very good. But have no fear my friends, Pittsburgh is playing tonight and with Fleury getting the nod in Jersey last night, it looks like the young star Matthew Murray will get the start tonight. The Pens beat the Devils 5-2 last night and their league-best offense is on fire. Obviously, Goal support shouldn't be a problem today, and although Carolina isn't a terrible team anymore, their offense still isn't good as they rank 18th in the NHL in that category. Okay enough carrying on. Murray has been sensational this season with a 13-4 record, 2 shutouts, and a .928 save %. Yes I know he gave up six goals in his last game but guess what? Columbus is scoring a million goals on everyone lately, so we can easily ignore that game, and Murray is by far my favorite play in cash games today, and I think we can roll him out in a few tourney lineups as well. If for some reason, the Pens start old man Fleury today, then start him with confidence as well. ...
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/27/16
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/27/16 Welcome back DFSR family. I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and is ready to get back on the daily fantasy hockey train. We have nice 10 game slate tonight with four of the top five offenses on the ice. As we start the second half of the season let's take a quick look back at some key strategy differences for cash games and tournaments. For cash For cash games, it is best to target players who accumulate more than just points. For the forwards, I love to look at not just shots on goal but shot attempts per 60(iCorsi/60 on puckalytics.ca). For defense, I look at blocked shots along with the shot metrics to help find value. Stacking can be done in cash but I always limit them to just two players from a team(not including goalie),usually from separate lines who also play on the powerplay together. Don't get cute at the goalie position in cash games! Roster a top dog who is in a favorable situation. You can get a feel for this by scanning the Vegas odds and projected team totals. For tournaments, I look at the same things as I do for cash games but also try and peg those players who have multi-point upside. Tournaments(GPP's) are also the best place to line stack a team that you feel will score a ton that night. You can run stacks in many different ways(2 man, 3 man, 4 man with D) but it is always best to make sure all your players get powerplay ice time to maximize their upside, even on Draftkings where PP points are not awarded. If you are playing larger field tournaments with multi-entries there are some ways to make your lineup more contrarian. If a team is a heavy favorite and projected to score it is very likely their top line will be the highest owed. To get some lower ownership you can pivot to that teams second or even third line to separate yourself from the field. you can also target a less popular team on a larger slate. Don't go crazy and target a heavy underdog but target a team like the Islanders or Hurricanes when they will be overlooked by the big dogs. Tournaments are also a great place to take a shot with a value goalie who will come at lower ownership. Now that we looked at some strategy let's dig in and take a look at some top plays for Tuesday night. Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/22/16 Three days till Christmas! This means only two more nights of daily fantasy hockey before the break. Let's get to it! Thursday brings us 10 games on the schedule with only the Philadelphia Flyers playing on a back to back. There are no heavy favorites at this point so choosing your cash game goalie could be tricky. Just kidding, Carey Price is playing at home. For tournaments though it will be nice as the ownership should be spread out quite a bit. Let's take a look at some of the top value plays from the projection system. Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. When you purchase a DFSR NHL subscription to our base hockey projections you also get access to our brand new NFL DFS suite of tools including full projections, optimal NFL lineups and our Player Lab, which includes filters to help you create NFL lineups for FanDuel and DraftKings for any format. MAKE NHL and NFL LINEUPS NOW! GOALIES Carey Price FD - $10000 DK - $8100 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 16.87 DK - 4.22 Well, I kinda gave away the top goalie fo the night in the opening but it was pretty much obvious already. After a brief stint where Price looked human he has returned to elite status over the last week. After losing last Friday night and allowing four goals he bounced back with a huge win over the Caps in Washington on Saturday night allowing just one goal. He then beat the Ducks on Tuesday, allowing just one goal. Price now sits with just one win less than league-leading Bobrovsky and sits third in GAA(1.87) and Save %(.936). The nice thing is the salary has dropped back down to Earth making him playable in all formats. Frederik Andersen FD - $9000 DK - $7900 Opponent - COL Proj Pts FD - 15.43 DK - 3.86 If you are looking to steer in a different direction in tournaments take a trip with the Leafs to Colorado. Look, I get that the Leafs are better at home but at his current salary on DraftKings he provides so much salary relief that can be used on elite plays at other positions. It isn't just the salary...
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/20/16
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/20/16 With Christmas right around the corner(5 more sleeps!), the NHL schedule has been condensed this week. Three of the next four days give us 10 or more games on the main slate. If that doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit I guess you should just go watch ELF four more times! Ok, back to hockey for a minute. Tonight we have 12 games on the schedule with five teams(NAS, ANA, DET, STL, CAL) playing on back to back nights. I won't keep you waiting any longer. Let's take a look at some of the top value plays from the projection system. Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. MAKE NHL and NFL LINEUPS NOW! GOALIES Devan Dubnyk FD - $9400 DK - $8300 Opponent - COL Proj Pts FD - 19.57 DK - 4.89 After a much needed rest following seven straight starts, Dubnyk will be back between the pipes tonight. He leads the league in GAA(1.62) and save %(.947) and is working on a six-game winning streak. He will be in a great spot to continue that streak tonight as the Avalanche come to town with their 28th ranked defense. The Wild open as the biggest favorites on the board(-230) while te Avs are the only team projected under two goals tonight. Roll out Dubnyk in all formats. Cory Schneider FD - $8700 DK - $7400 Opponent - NAS Proj Pts FD - 15 DK - 3.75 If you are a risky, contrarian type tournament player you are going to want to consider Schneider at home tonight. The Devils are ice cold right now losing six straight games which is going to have most people scroll over his name. Don't do it! Schneider has the most extreme home/road splits of any goalie in the league this year. His 1-9-4 road record and awful .898 save % have really hurt his overall numbers but let's concentrate on those home splits tonight....
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/19/16
Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings 12/19/16 Hello NHL fans and welcome to a beautiful five game Monday slate. Every team playing today should be fresh as nobody is playing in back to back games. That makes it more exciting for everyone involved. Enjoy the games today. Let's dive right in. Hockey is back and with it come our NHL projections which help inform these picks every night. MAKE NHL and NFL LINEUPS NOW! GOALIES Cam Ward FD - $8200 DK - $7500 Opponent - DET Proj Pts FD - 14.68 DK - 3.67 This is a very difficult day when trying to chose a cash game goalie, so we have to dig a little deeper to find the best option. Actually today looks like it has GPP only written all over it, but if you're like me and insist on trying to play cash games no matter what, then we may have hope. I'll do my best in explaining why I like Cam Ward and the Hurricanes at home against the Red Wings. First of all Detroit's offense is punchless, and Carolina is four whole points higher in their corsi % then Detroit, which means that the puck should be in Detroit's end a lot more often then in Carolina's end tonight. Also the Red Wings are 4th worst in the league in goals scored with 2.31 per game, they own the worst power-play in the entire league, and the 'Canes are #1 in the league at killing penalties. Ward has been up and down all season, but he is coming off of a good game against Buffalo by allowing only one goal in a shootout victory on home ice. Carolina is currently listed as -142 home favorites according to Vegas, so the chances of a victory for them is half decent. The Red Wings are also third worst in the NHL in the shots for category by firing only 27.7 pucks on net per game. This limit's Ward's upside, but if you're looking for the safest goalie today, then Ward is your man. It's not a safe...
