Point Guard Russell Westbrook FD - $12000 DK - $11600 Opponent - ATL Proj Pts FD - 64.91 DK - 66.82 I suppose we can somewhat forgive Westbrook’s *off* game on Saturday when he only had 24 points and 10 rebounds in the win over the Spurs. Hell, he was only a game removed from the double overtime 24 point, 24 assist, 13 rebound loss to San Antonio two days before. Now Russ gets a much easier matchup against the Hawks who run the fastest pace in the league and play the 25th ranked defensive efficiency. Westbrook is the clear cash game play on this slate with the Thunder -9 road favorites. It suggests the Hawks can at least stay in the game and the Thunder might not get buzzed on minutes because of the blowout. Russ is averaging his triple-double and will likely be a chalk play on this slate. Lonzo Ball FD - $7100 DK - $6700 Opponent - CHI Proj Pts FD - 37.33 DK - 37.83 The Lakers are coming off an embarrassing home loss to the Cavaliers on Sunday. They are now 3-7 since Lebron James went down with the groin injury and Lonzo’s minutes and production have been erratic in Lebron’s absence. I do think the plan is to play the former high 30’s minutes when things are going *well*. He went 41 against the Cavs and finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. I think we can expect some similar run in this game against the hapless Bulls. Ball is a value on both sites but you need to live with some of the variance in his game. Jeremy Lin continues to see quality minutes off the bench for the Hawks. This isn’t a great matchup against the Thunder, but Lin might still have some value because he can put it together on a points per minute basis. Point Guard Derrick White FD - $5900 DK - $5400 Opponent - CHA Proj Pts FD - 29.12 DK - 28.72 White isn’t going to be a volume scorer as long as he’s sharing the court with DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, but the minutes on the Spurs’ point guard have been mostly steady. Over his last five games (which included the double OT game against the Rockets and a foul-ridden one against the Grizzlies) White is averaging 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and three assists. He’ll also chip in on the defensive end with a steal here and there. It adds up to close to value on these prices and I’m fairly confident the plan is to play him upwards of 30 minutes in close games. I like the DraftKings’ price a bit more, but as you’ll see, the FanDuel point guard options aren’t overwhelming. Reggie Jackson FD - $5000 DK - $4800 Opponent - UTA Proj Pts FD - 25.34 DK - 26.71 Yes, I get this is against the Jazz and I also recognize that this slate has a bunch of bad matchups headed our way. Though the Pistons are getting Ish Smith back, it’s unlikely he comes out and plays a lot of minutes. They pushed Jackson to 40 last time around and he finished with 10 points and four assists. Mostly, I’m looking to get away from the point guard position without spending all that much because there are some bigger payoffs at other positions. The point guard pool is thin on this slate and we might be left with some underwhelming plays (like R-Jax). If you want to spend up a little more, I do see Kyrie Irving as a viable option. His usage has ticked up some in the short term and the Celtics could sure use more consistent scoring out of their superstar. But Irving is also questionable with a hip issue. If he couldn’t go, then Terry Rozier instantly jump to the top of the point guard list. Point guard Ben Simmons FD - $9500 DK - $9100Opponent - NYProj Pts FD - 51.04 DK - 52.26 We'll kick things off with the red hot Ben Simmons, who is fresh off of a heavy 23/10/15 triple double against the Hawks. The context here is of course that Embiid missed the Hawks game, but if he does it will be hard to talk anyone off of the Sixers' explosive play maker. He played 43 minutes, and it was obvious that the 76ers couldn't find any reason to take him off the court. We regress our on-court off-court data based on sample size, and even still Simmons is getting a 2%-4% bump in every fantasy category. Simmons was 80%+ owned against Atlanta, and you'll see similar numbers if Embiid misses again. Heck, Simmons might even be playable here if Embiid plays. Eric Bledsoe FD - $6800 DK - $8600Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 36.2 DK - 36.52 Bledsoe went absolutely off against the Wizards, putting up 18/8/9 in just 28 minutes. He was questionable going into that game with an ankle issue, but it didn't seem to affect his on-court performance. Now it's worth pointing out that Giannis missed that game and that he will likely be playing here, but if you're running Bledsoe out there you're doing so because he's just under-priced. There is some blowout risk here to be sure - Milwaukee is favored by 10.5 points - but Atlanta is also the fourth most generous team to opposing point guards from a fantasy perspective. The price is out of bounds on DraftKings, but on FanDuel he still looks like quite a value. Lonzo Ball FD - $7100 DK - $6400Opponent - CLEProj Pts FD - 37.37 DK - 37.59 Speaking of under-priced point guards in crazy good match-ups, I'd like to present Lonzo Ball to you. There's no doubt that Ball has been in something of a dry spell recently, but a match-up with the league's very worst point guard defense should be the cure for what ails him. Ball is still chipping in across the board, and the combination of 6+ assists and a couple of steals per game is a good jumping off point for having a high floor. His minutes have been...

Point Guard Damian Lillard FD - $8900 DK - $8700 Opponent - CHA Proj Pts FD - 44.81 DK - 46.52 If we’re trying to fade blowouts on this slate (and that’s going to be tough) then Lillard could rank up there as one of the better point guard plays. The position is very, very weak with so many teams possibly headed toward blowouts. Lillard is going through a rough patch, shooting 36% from the field and 24% from three over his last five games. He’s maintained solid assist numbers in that stretch (nine per game) but the scoring is definitely down. He’ll have a chance for bounce back game against the Hornets who have actually been above average against point guards this season. But I’m looking to play Lillard sub $9K on both sites thanks to the recent run bad from the field. Note: Lillard is currently questionable. Lonzo Ball FD - $7100 DK - $6500 Opponent - UTA Proj Pts FD - 34.46 DK - 34.89 I get that he’s facing Utah. But this is also a Utah team playing in a state of flux without any of their actual point guards and working on a backcourt skeleton crew. So while, sure, that will likely continue to slow down their pace as they get into even more methodical sets, it does stand to reason they are a bit compromised on the defensive end as well. Lonzo’s production has been, well, variable to see the least. Dude’s been all over the place. The volume shooting comes and goes as does all of the other stats. But I still think he offers some kind of value at these prices considering the positional scarcity on FanDuel. After these guys (and believe me, these guys are stretches) the player pool gets awfully thin at first glance. Here’s to hoping we get some injury news at some point during the day on Friday that opens things up. There might be a case for Jeff Teague against the Mavs. I’d also consider Kemba Walker against the Blazers.
