There are just three spots remaining and the with the points spreading out(McMurray with 700 in 16th and Bowyer with 642 in 17th), it appears those drivers on the outside looking in will need a win in the next two weeks. This week presents quite a challenge for the drivers as they head to Darlington Raceway to dance with the Lady in Black. What makes Darlington so tough is the construction of it as it is more of an egg shape than an oval giving two completely different approaches to each end of the track. The biggest challenge can be entering turn three as drivers come off a long straight away and into a tight corner. This is where the Darlington Stripe will find plenty of cars right side panels this week. From 1950 to 2003, the Southern 500 was run on Labor Day weekend and although it moved around a few times in between, it returned in 2015 and became the throw back weekend. Speaking of throwbacks, let's take a ride with Cale Yarborough and check out the track. How's this for a #NASCARThrowback? Take a ride with Cale Yarborough around @TooToughToTame to get pumped for next week's #Southern500! #TBT pic.twitter.com/AnsUQcNfZs — NASCAR on NBC (@NASCARonNBC) August 24, 2017 Let's now take a look at some of the trends going into this weeks race. With 13 drivers locked into the postseason, there are three spots that remain and while the gap has grown over the past few weeks any driver inside the Top 30 in points can jump the points chasers by just winning a race! Ok, winning a race isn't as easy as Martin Truex Jr, Kyle Larson, and Jimmie Johnson(three drivers with 3+ wins) have made it out to be. Before getting into the trends and picks, let's take a look at the drivers hovering the bubble. 14th - Chase Elliot(685 Points) 15th - Jamie McMurray(675 Points) 16th - Matt Kenseth(654 Points) PLAYOFF CUTLINE 17th - Clint Bowyer(623 Points) 18th - Joey Logano(556 Points) 19th - Erik Jones(524 Points) 20th - Daniel Suarez(515Points)   Let's now take a look at some of the trends going into this weeks race. Last Six Winners at Bristol 2017 Spring - Jimmie Johnson (started 11th, led 81 laps) 2016 Summer -Kevin Harvick (started 24th, led 128 laps) 2016 Spring - Carl Edwards (started 1st, led 276 laps) 2015 Summer - Joey Logano (started 5th, led 176 laps) 2015 Spring - Matt Kenseth (started 1st, led 47 laps) 2014 Summer - Joey Logano (started 5th, led 76 laps)   Top 5 Current & Career Track History at Bristol    Jimmie Johnson is the defending race winner from the Spring race and he also has three Top 5's and four Top 10 finishes in his last five races here at Bristol. He also sits in the Top 5 when looking at career track history with two Bristol wins and 18 Top 10 finishes in 31 races. Chase Elliott, with a small three race sample size, is next on the list with finishes of 7th, 15th, and 4th in his three trips to Bristol. Kevin Harvick is another driver...

We've got you completely covered.     Pure Michigan 400 Michigan International Speedway - Brooklyn, MI Track - Two-Mile D-Shaped Oval Laps - 200 The regular season is winding down fast and we are now just four races away from the Playoffs. After picking up his fourth win of the season last week, Martin Truex Jr. has opened up a huge lead at the top of the standings(881 points) over Kyle Larson(765 points) and is likely going to grab those extra 15 playoff points awarded to the regular season champion. Going into this weekend there are 13 drivers who have picked up an official win and are already locked into the Playoffs leaving three final spots to either a first-time race winner in 2017 or it will come down to a points race. While it appears Chase Elliott, Jamie McMurray, and Matt Kenseth are comfortable, one bad race can change the whole landscape with the new points system. Before getting into this weeks race lets's take a look at the drivers around the cutline. 14th - Chase Elliot(648 Points) 15th - Jamie McMurray(643 Points) 16th - Matt Kenseth(637 Points) PLAYOFF CUTLINE 17th - Clint Bowyer(609 Points) 18th - Joey Logano(542 Points) 19th - Daniel Suarez(508 Points) 20th - Erik Jones(477 Points)   This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads back to the fastest track in NASCAR, Michigan International Speedway. Looking at this week's cheatsheet, it is very clear that track position is very important as we see four of the last six winners have started from the pole with some heavy correlation to starting position. From a dominator standpoint, we see a split when it comes to how many drivers lead laps. Three of the last six races have seen one driver(Larson, Logano, Kenseth) lead 90 or more laps with the other three races having two or three drivers share the laps led. The race earlier this year, which was the first here with stages, saw Kyle Larson dominate from the pole but led 96 while Kyle Busch(40) and Martin Truex Jr(62) still got a nice share. Practice will be the determining...

Daily Fantasy NASCAR Race Preview & Picks for DraftKings – I love New York 355 at the Glen

We've got you completely covered.     I love New York 355 at the Glen Watkins Glen International - Watkins Glen, NY Track - 2.428 Mile Road Course Laps - 90 This week the Monster Energy Cup Series will travel to Watkins Glen, New York for the second road course race of the season. Watkins Glen is much more different than Sonoma and I am not just talking location(Infineon-California, Watkins Glen-New York). Infineon Raceway is very technical with 12 turns while Watkins Glen has just seven turns and is much faster as drivers can reach speeds of 18-190 mph on the back stretch. The NASCAR America team breaks it quite well in this video. Through 21 races, it has been a memorable year with 14 different race winners which includes Joey Logano's encumbered finish that won't count towards his playoff push. Speaking of the playoffs, there are just five races remaining for those non-winners to either grab a victory or point-race their way in and that includes Joey Logano who is currently sitting 18th and 69 points out of a playoff spot. Here is a look at the bubble going into this weeks race at the Glen: 14th - Chase Elliot(616 Points) 15th - Jamie McMurray(615 Points) 16th - Matt Kenseth(594 Points) PLAYOFF CUTLINE 17th - Clint Bowyer(577 Points) 18th - Joey Logano(525 Points) 19th - Daniel Suarez(464 Points) 20th - Erik Jones(444 Points)   For fantasy, place differential is going to be the number one target this week. Over the last six races, at least 20 drivers in each have gained positive place differential with at least seven drivers with double-digit place differential. With just 90 laps it limits the dominator points available but is note worthy that over the past six races at the Glen at least two drivers have led 20+ laps in every race. Let's now take a look at some trends and early picks.   Last Six Winners 2016 - Denny Hamlin (started 6th) 2015 - Joey Logano (started 16th)  2014 - A.J. Allmendinger (started 6th) 2013 - Kyle Busch (started 5th) 2012 -...

Daily Fantasy NASCAR Race Preview and Picks – Overton’s 400

We've got you completely covered.     Overton's 400 Pocono Raceway - Long Pond, PA Track - 2.5 Mile Tri-Oval Banking - 6° to 14° Laps - 160 This week the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns to Pocono Raceway for the second time in less than two months. Ryan Blaney picked up his first career Cup win in June after getting around race dominator Kyle Busch and holding off "The Closer" Kevin Harvick. In my June write-up for the Pocono 400, I mentioned it was likely we would see multiple drivers leading 20+ laps and I was sort of right. Erik Jones led exactly 20 laps while his Toyota teammate Kyle Busch led 100 laps, the only time in the last six races someone has done that. I also mentioned it comes down to what team makes the right adjustments throughout the race to have a balanced car that can handle all three corners here at the Tricky Triangle. The correlation to starting position was also very high last race as seven of the Top 10 started the day there and just one driver who started outside the Top 20 finished inside the Top 10. This week will also be the first time in the Cup series where Qualifying and the race will be held on the same day.  There are two practice rounds starting Saturday morning at 9:00 am ET with Qualifying coming at 11:30 am Et on Sunday morning followed by the race at 3:00 pm ET. As a fan, I think this is a great idea but as a writer/content provider, it is going to be a nightmare rushing around after qualifying to update the spreadsheet and either make a final picks article or video with the top picks. We all know how important qualifying is to determine the top plays. Before all of that happens we can take a look at some of the top trends here at Pocono going into the weekend.   Last Six Winners 2017 - Ryan Blaney (Started 4th) 2016 - Chris Buescher (Started 22nd) 2016 - Kurt Busch (Started 9th) 2015 - Matt Kenseth (Started 7th) 2015...
