Daily Fantasy NASCAR Preview & Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel – Coca Cola 600
Daily Fantasy NASCAR Preview & Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel - Coca Cola 600 Charlotte Motor Speedway Track - 1.5 Mile Quad-Oval Intermediate 24° of Banking in the Turns It has been a very successful return to racing for the NASCAR Cup Series. We were treated to two races on at Darlington Raceway, one of the most popular and challenging tracks on the circuit and it didn't disappoint one bit. The first race saw Brad Keselowski dominate early, leading 80 laps but Kevin Harvick's dominance at the "Track too tough to tame" continued as he led a race-high 159 laps en route to the win. The second race was a little more spread out in terms of laps led after the Top 20 in qualifying was inverted from race #1. Clint Bowyer led 71 laps early before finding the wall and taking on some damage. Chase Elliott was on his way to victory late when Kyle Busch made a huge mistake and took him out (maybe he should think about a future in formula one instead?) which ended up leading to Denny Hamlin picking up win #2 on the season after the race was called due to rain. Looking at some data from those two races, Hamlin and Harvick were not only the two winners but also the only two drivers to finish Top 5 in both races. Joining them are Martin Truex Jr. and Erik Jones as the only other two drivers with Top 10's in both races. Overall, there were only 14 drivers who finished Top 20 in both races at Darlington. NASCAR now travels to Charlotte Motor Speedway for a four-day, four race extravaganza. It all starts this Sunday with a Crown Jewel event on the Cup schedule, the Coca Cola 600. The big difference for this race on Sunday is that the cars will be on track for qualifying two hours ahead of the race. It will be best, in my opinion, to target your early dominator from a driver inside the Top 5 or if targeting two drivers, both inside the Top 10. The reason is that qualifying should give us a very good look into who has their car setup the best for the early portion of the race. I emphasize "early portion" as this is the longest race of the season and the only race with four stages. With the combined lack of practice and long lay off from racing, I think we get three dominators(leading 50+) in this race. There have been four races at Charlotte since the introduction of the stages and we have seen multiple scenarios play out. At the Coca 600 in 2017, Truex dominated with 233 laps...

Return to Racing at Darlington It's finally here and I have close to the same kind of feeling as Daytona week as we have pretty much went through an entire second offseason. NASCAR will be one of the first sports back in action this weekend at Darlington which will start a stretch of four races for the Cup Series in 10 days on two tracks(Charlotte the other). Like I mentioned in my "NASCAR Update Article", there will be no practices as these will be one-day events and the only race with qualifying will be the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte next Sunday. As of Monday, May 11, NASCAR has yet to release how qualifying will work but my guess is that we will have this data days before the race giving us plenty of time to analyze the data and build lineups. There will be an added variance from a fantasy perspective with the return to racing with no practice or qualifying but given we have playing iRacing DFS which was a whole new level of variance, I am not worried at all. It's all about the data and we have lots of it here at Darlington and in NASCAR in general. Let's dig in and look at some of the data leading up to the race and make sure to tune in Sunday morning for the pre-race/pre-lock Live show on my YouTube channel. Darlington Raceway Track - 1.366 Mile Oval Intermediate 25° of Banking in Turns 1 & 2 23° of Banking in Turn 3 & 4 Last 10 Winners at Darlington 2019 - Erik Jones(started 15th) 2018 - Brad Keselowski(started 13th) 2017 - Denny Hamlin(started 9th) 2016 - Martin Truex Jr.(started 8th) 2015 - Carl Edwards(started 12th) 2014 - Kevin Harvick(started 1st) 2013 - Matt Kenseth(started 7th) 2012 - Jimmie Johnson(started 2nd) 2011 - Regan Smith(started 23rd) 2010 - Denny Hamlin(started 8th) Track History Darlington is one of the toughest tracks on the circuit as it is abrasive and...

Raise your hand if you are ready for sports to come back? While I can't see you, I am pretty sure 100% of you reading this have at least one arm up in the air. It has been a very odd time lately and I am happy to be back talking REAL sports(no offense to the eGaming/eSports crowd). In this article, I just want to update you on the new NASCAR timeline as well as update you on a personal note of what I have been up to during the quarantine/social distancing period. Let's get started. Personal Update It was a wild timeline for me during this whole thing. It started out with my holiday to Phoenix which was going according to plan at the start as I was able to get to and enjoy the FanShield 500 at Phoenix Raceway with no idea it would possibly be the last race of the season with fans. Monday and Tuesday I got to visit our family friend who is in the SF Giants system and watch some practices at Spring Training facilities. Wednesday evening is when everything blew up as Rudy Gobert tested positive shutting down the NBA, followed by the NHL on Thursday. The PGA Championship was then canceled after Round 1 was suspended due to "dark conditions". I was still positive and prepped the Xfinity and Cup series sheets for the next weekend only to finish just as NASCAR postponed races as well. With Spring Training also postponed, we finished our trip doing some outdoor stuff and got to do lots of kids stuff as well. We flew home late Saturday night and were about 2-3 days away from border and travel chaos. It was so weird as when we left there was no concern really at all about COVID-19 and never seen or heard a word about it in Phoenix the first 3-4 days. I have learned a lot of new things over the past 6-7 weeks since the world has been shut down. Some of...
Daily Fantasy NASCAR Preview & Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel – Pennzoil 400

Pennzoil 400 After an overnight delay and insane finish at the Daytona 500, the NASCAR Cup Series moves on to Las Vegas for the Pennzoil 400 and start of the "real" season. One note before we get into race and track is that while Ryan Newman appears to be making a speedy recovery from the crash on Monday, it will be Ross Chastain stepping in and driving the #6 this weekend in the 38-car field. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a mile and a half, D-shaped oval intermediate and is considered steep with 20 degrees of progressive banking in the turns. From a fantasy perspective, the biggest thing to realize is that the strategy is completely different from Daytona. We were heavy on almost any driver starting back in the pack at Daytona for maximum exposure to place differential. While place differential is still important(largely dependant on qualifying), we have more laps and a much higher correlation between starting to finish position due to it being much harder to pass on intermediate tracks than it is on superspeedway's. This leads us to a strong dominator strategy which includes laps led and fast laps(Draftkings only) and this track has been a two dominator track as seven of the last 10 races here have seen two drivers lead 50 or more laps. Looking at that same 10 race sample size, there has been a driver lead 100+ laps in six of those races. For the most part, we will be looking at drivers starting near the front for our dominator targets but that isn't always the case as we saw Joey Logano lead 105 laps last...
