Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 10 – 11/5/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 10 - 11/5/17 Welcome back football fans. It's week nine in the National Football League and unfortunately, we have to start off with some terrible injury news to one of the most exciting players in the league. DeShaun Watson suffered a torn ACL in Thursday's practice and will undergo season-ending surgery. Another huge blow to a Texans team that has already lost J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus for the season. It is also a huge blow to the NFL and its fans as it just adds to the list of stars who have gone down(Aaron Rodgers, Odell Beckham, David Johnson, Dalvin Cook). Nevertheless, we must move on and talk about the players who are still playing so let's jump right into my top stacks for this week. We've got you completely covered. New Orleans Saints Quarterback - Drew Brees Primary Target - Michael Thomas Secondary Target - Tedd Ginn Jr. Using the DFSR Player Lab this week, I broke the quarterback options using just two filters. I set the "High Vegas O/U" filter to 50 or more points and the "Poor Defense vs. Pass" filter to 20th or worse. This gave me two options to choose from and it was neck and neck who I was going to choose until the news broke Friday morning that Ezekiel Elliot's suspension was once again called off thanks to a temporary stay from the Second Circuit Court. That made my decision easy this week as I will turn to Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints who get an elite matchup vs. the Bucs who rank 31st in defense vs. the pass on the Lab and rank 30th overall when looking at passing yards per game allowed this season(274.7). When equating that to fantasy points, they have allowed the fifth-most DraftKings and sixth-most FanDuel points per game to quarterbacks. The number gets even worse when looking at wideouts as they rank dead last in DK points and second last in FD points per game allowed. That is great news for Michael Thomas who is seeking his first...
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 8 – 10/29/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 8 - 10/29/17 Welcome back for another week of daily fantasy football. As we always do, let's take a look back and see how I did with my stack recommendations from last week. Overall, it was not a great week for stacking as there were only seven quarterbacks to throw for 300+ yards and two of them(Alex Smith & Derek Carr) played Thursday Night and one more(Kirk Cousins) on Monday Night. That left just four that hit the 300-yard mark on the main slate Sunday and unfortunately, none were in my stacking article. Needless to say, my bankroll took a hit. It was unfortunate for my Cardinal stacks that signal caller, Carson Palmer, was injured in the second quarter but it didn't appear he was going to reach value anyway(10 for 18 for 122 yards before leaving) as the Rams defense was stout and ended up shutting out the Cardinals. Next, I had Mariota and Decker who had a great matchup vs. the Browns who had averaged 26.6 points against per game going in but they couldn't take advantage as either team managed to rack up 300 total yards of offense. Mariota completed 21 of 34 passes for 204 yards but still was hesitant to use his legs(1 rush for 8 yards) two weeks after returning from an injury. Don't even get me started on Erick Decker who had a near elite matchup but managed to put a goose egg. Finally, we got the Super Bowl rematch which had the highest Vegas total of the week and both quarterbacks projecting for big games. I favored Matt Ryan who faced a Patriots defense that had allowed the most DraftKings points per game to the quarterback position. FAIL! The Patriots picked up right where they left off in February and ended up scoring the first 23 points of the game before Matt Ryan finally put up some fantasy points with a touchdown to Julio Jones late in the game. With all that disappointment in the rearview mirror, let's move on to Week 8 on the NFL schedule and see if we can rebound with a GPP win. It will be another interesting week with six teams on a bye, a Thursday and Monday night game, and another early game in London. For the purpose of this article, I will once again be concentrating on the nine-game Sunday slate(10 games on FanDuel). Let's get started. Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 7 – 10/22/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 7 - 10/22/17 Welcome back for another week of daily fantasy football. As we always do, let's take a look back and see how I did with my stack recommendations from last week. It started with rookie sensation Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans. Gameflow did not dictate a lot of throwing as Kevin Hogan was a massive disappointment on the other side of the ball but Watson was still able to get his points by throwing three touchdowns despite being limited to 29 attempts and 225 yards. The lack of yardage hurt both DeAndre Hopkins(2 of 4 for 19 yards) and Will Fuller(2 of 5 for 62) but both ended up catching a touchdown pass from Watson to salvage the stack. Things got worse as my Charger stacks flopped in a big way as they played a very low scoring defensive battle with the Raiders last Sunday. Rivers was not bad, by any means, completing 25 of 36 passes for 268 yards and no interceptions but only threw for one touchdown on the day. He ended up targeting Keenan Allen nine times but unfortunately, he only caught five of those targets for 45 yards. It was sophomore tight end Hunter Henry having the biggest day catching five of his seven targets for 90 yards and due to the tight coverage to receivers, running back Melvin Gordon caught nine of a game-high 12 targets for 67 yards and Rivers' lone touchdown. Speaking of low-scoring games, my contrarian stack of the Steelers was also a flop last week. The lesson to learn here is that just because you like a wide receiver a ton on any given week it does not necessarily mean you need to stack him with the quarterback. This game was a perfect example as Antonio Brown went off once again catching eight of his 10 targets for 155 yards and a touchdown paying off his high price tag. Those yards made up over 50% of Big Ben's total(19/25 for 252) and was his only touchdown pass. The optimal stack in this game was pairing Brown and Le'Veon Bell who rushed 32 times for 179 yards and a touchdown. The combination fo the two was very expensive but would have made a nice separation in tournaments. Lesson learned. With all that we have learned from last, let's step into the top stacks for week 7 in the NFL. Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 6 – 10/15/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 6 - 10/15/17 Welcome back for another week of daily fantasy football. Things are starting to heat up as week six is upon us and teams are starting to separate. The Kansas City Chiefs remain as the only undefeated team in the league with the Broncos, Eagles, Packers, and Falcons as the only one-loss teams. Week six brings us another round of bye weeks as the Bills, Bengals, Cowboys, and Seahawks will get a rest as they prepare for the remainder of the season. Before getting into this week's picks, let's quickly review my week five picks. I started last week by combining the Cowboys and Packers game as it was projected to be very high-scoring. They didn't disappoint as the teams combined for 66 points in another Aaron Rodgers dramatic 35-31 comeback victory. The only disappointing part of the game, from a fantasy perspective, was that both quarterbacks failed to reach the 300-yard mark(Rodgers-221, Prescott-251) but both threw three touchdowns. What capped those overall numbers was the fact that Aaron Jones(GB) and Ezekiel Elliott(DAL) both rushed for over 100 yards on the day. The wideouts somewhat let us down as well as Jordy Nelson only totaled two catches for 24 yards while Dez Bryant tallied five catches for 52 yards. Both ended up scoring touchdowns on the day which did help their overall fantasy totals. Overall, it could have been much better with more volume, but it also could have been much worse. Speaking of much worse, we have the Arizona Cardinals who got absolutely thumped by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cardinals were outplayed in almost every area and ended up with just over 11 minutes less possession time which really limited the touches from a stacking perspective. Carson Palmer gave us the volume we were looking for as he attempted 44 passes on Sunday but only completed 28 of them for 291 yards and one touchdown. Five of those completions went to Larry Fitzgerald who tallied 51 yards but didn't reach the endzone. The one play that did work out in this game was Andre Ellington who continued to get his share of touches as he caught nine of his 10 targets for 65 yards. His price did come up a little bit this week but not enough to fade him considering he has received double-digit targets in back to back weeks to lead all running backs and sit second behind only Antonio Brown in that time. Let us now jump right into the week six picks. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NFL optimizer for FanDuel and DraftKings, our MLB Optimizer,...
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 5 – 10/8/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 5 - 10/8/17 Welcome back for another week of daily fantasy football. It was a tough week for me as a Minnesota Vikings fan as Dalvin Cook went down with a non-contact injury and is lost for the season with a torn ACL and Case Keenum came back to Earth and looked like...well...Case Keenum. Enough about my fandom and more about DFS as the stack I recommended last week turned out much better than the week before. As always, I will provide a quick recap of how things turned out before getting into this week's picks. Let's do it! It started early Sunday with the game at Wembley Stadium in London and to be honest, I was a bit scared of how the week would turn out. I slept through the entire first half and when I woke up it was 3-0 Saints at halftime. Before going right back to sleep I decided to watch the first drive and was thrilled to see Drew Brees drive the ball down the field and throw a touchdown to Michael Thomas. The Saints only put up 20 points in the end but considering it looked like a 9-6 type game at halftime, I will take it and run. Brees ended up completing 29 of 41 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns while Michael Thomas caught eight of his 11 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown. Coby Fleener was a bust but I am willing to cut those losses and take the points I got from Brees/Thomas. The Cardinals and 49ers game also came in under the number last week but Palmer and Fitz continued to roll. Without David Johnson, the system was bullish on Palmer's pass attempts(49) and he outperformed that by two completing 33 of 51 and recorded his third straight 300+ passing yard game. That made up for the lack of touchdowns in this low-scoring game but thankfully the one he did throw went to Larry Fitzgerald. Even with bye weeks and limited options this week, both are still underpriced, in my opinion, on both sites. There were a few high-scoring games I missed out on last week(Rams vs. Cowboys, Panthers vs. Patriots) but the Texans and Titans was not one of them. Rookie Deshaun Watson had a terrific game for fantasy completing 25 of 34 passes for 283 yards and four touchdowns. He narrowly missed out on the 300-yard bonus on DraftKings but made up for it adding a fifth touchdown on the ground. He continued to favor DeAndre Hopkins who had double the targets of any other receiver as he caught 10 of his 12 targets for 107 yards...
