Too-Early Week 1 NFL Thoughts for FanDuel and DraftKings
Too-Early Week 1 NFL Thoughts for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 1 in the NFL is just around the corner and with it comes what is usually the most volatile week of the year in terms of prognosticating. While we know *a lot* about some teams, others we will have to take a wait and see approach on both sides of the ball. We will have our Week 1 picks for FanDuel and DraftKings early next week, but for now, let's look at some themes already cropping up on the horizon. Perhaps no single player will have quite the deterministic impact of Andrew Luck. It’s been more than a year since this guy’s seen regular season action and even if things look okay on the health front, there’s simply no way to really recreate the speed and intensity of this kind of game pace. And yet, he’s Andrew Luck who in 2016 finished in the top 10 in passing yards a would have reasonably been in top four had he not missed a game. Week 1 will set him and the Colts up for early success. They’re opening as -3 home favorites against a Cincinnati team that ranked a little below average in team defense last season. Vegas certainly doesn’t hate their chances at scoring points, coming in with the eight-best implied total on the day. It also helps that he’s got at least two familiar faces to throw to in T.Y. Hilton who led the league in receiving yards the last time Luck was under center. Meanwhile, Doyle was the team’s second-most targeted receiver that season, starting in 14 games and finishing with five targets per game when Luck started. That's not elite usage, but he's a more polished receiver at this point in his career. And finally, it sure seems like...
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 17 – 12/31/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 17 - 12/31/17 Welcome back to the insanity that is Week 17 in fantasy football. Not only do we have injuries to deal with but we also have a ton of scenarios where teams will be sitting players or at least limiting their snaps. Let’s go through some of those situations before getting to my top stacks for GPP’s. Jordy Nelson & Devante Adams - Both receivers have yet to practice this week as Adams has not been cleared of his concussion and Nelson is dealing with a shoulder injury. Both are not expected to play this week leaving some extra targets for Randall Cobb, Geronimo Allison, and Trevor Davis. Melvin Gordon - He missed practice Wednesday and was limited on Thursday as he is dealing with an ankle injury. Stay tuned for the final injury report but the Chargers will definitely want to get him on the field if possible as they still have a shot at making the AFC playoffs. DeAndre Hopkins - He has been ruled a game-time decision by the coach as he is dealing with a calf injury. Some reports have already been floating around that he will sit out but being that he is only four catches away from 100, I would think he will do everything to get on the field on Sunday. Julio Jones - The usual with Julio who was limited in practice throughout the week with multiple injuries(ankle, thumb) but is fully expected to play DeMarco Murray - Dealing with a torn MCL and was sidelined in Wednesday and Thursday practice. He is doubtful to play although the team is hoping he can play through it. If he is out, Derrick Henry would get the bulk of the work and becomes a terrific value this week. Michael Thomas - Was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice and will be a game-time decision with his hamstring injury. Joe Mixon - I slated to return to his starter duties this week which would take away the value that Gio Bernard has offered in his absence. Reports from the Steelers are that Le’Veon Bell and Ben Roethlisberger will sit out this week as the scenario for them to get the #1 seed is unlikely as they need a win and a Patriots loss. This would give Landry Jones the start at quarterback and a likely committee approach at running back between Fitzgerald Toussaint and Stevan Ridley. The Rams reported they will sit Jared Goff and Todd Gurley this week and limit starting receivers Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Sammy Watkins. The Chiefs announced they will be starting Patrick Mahomes at quarterback but...
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 16 – 12/24/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 16 - 12/24/17 Welcome back fantasy football fans. I don't blame you if you took the week off as the main slate falls on Christmas Eve where you will likely want to be spending time with your family playing Scrabble, Monopoly, or other popular board games but if you are like me you will have at least Redzone playing on your phone(don't tell my mom). There are also two games on Christmas Day this week so if you plan on eating a ton of Turkey and chilling on the couch, I would advise you to get in some Sunday-Monday slate action. There are some very intriguing matchups and a lot on the line this week so let's first take a look at some of the injuries that could affect our lineup construction. Antonio Brown - Out with a calf injury and may not play until the playoffs. Leonard Fournette - Practiced in full this week and is slated to return to the Jaguars backfield after dealing with a quad injury. DeAndre Hopkins - Was limited in Thursday's practice with the same toe injury but there is not much concern that he will miss the game as he played through it last week and came through once again. Ezekiel Elliott - Will make his return from suspension this week and get a nice matchup vs. a banged up Seahawks defense. Julio Jones - Was limited in Thursday's practice with an ankle and thumb injury after the expectation was he would be out of practice all week. This is a good sign in a huge division game vs. the Saints. Devante Adams - Has been ruled out as he is dealing with a concussion. This opens up extra targets for Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb but they face a tough matchup vs. the Vikings. Isaiah Crowell - Limited on Thursday dealing with a shoulder injury but the expectation is that he will play this week. He could see limited snaps opening some added touches for Duke Johnson. Travis Kelce - Didn't practice on Wednesday with an illness but is expected to play and the questionable tag could help with his ownership. Tevin Coleman - Has cleared the concussion protocol and will play this week. Joe Mixon - Practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday and should return if he doesn't experience any setbacks before Sunday. Devin Funchess - Dealing with a shoulder injury and has yet to practice this week but has told the media he is "good to go". Play with caution as he was a non-factor last week with the same injury. Samaje Perine - Left Thursday's practice after suffering...
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 15 – 12/17/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 15 - 12/17/17 Week 15! I cannot believe I am saying this out loud right now. Well, to be fair, I am saying it in my head. Sorry peeps, my brain is a still a little scrambled from being sick all week and dealing with the agony of last weeks article where I overlooked the Tom Brady in Miami narrative and lost all Sunday-Monday slates with that stack. The Chiefs stack also tanked but if you watched the game it could have been so much better if Kelce would have gained just a half yard more and not dropped like two other touchdowns. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. The funny thing about that phrase is that it became popular in 1970 when Don Meredith used it on Monday Night Football. Moving on! Before getting into this week's top stacks, let's take a look at some of the injury news and notes going into the weekend and remember there are two games on Saturday night now that the College Football regular season has ended. Carson Wentz - Tore his ACL in last weeks game vs. the Rams and has been put on season-ending IR. This means the Eagles will turn to Nick Foles for the remainder of the season and he is a bargain on both sites. Josh McCown - Broke his hand last week and will need surgery which will end his season. Bryce Petty will get the start this week vs. the Saints. Tyrod Taylor - Will be the starter this week for the Bills after Nathan Peterman was ruled out with a concussion. LeSean McCoy - After being limited early in the week with a knee injury, Shady was listed as a full participant on Thursday and is good to go this week. Leonard Fournette - Popped up on the injury report after not practicing on Wednesday or Thursday due to a quad injury. Stay tuned as lineup lock approaches and if he is out, T.J. Yeldon and Chis Ivory would likely split the work in the backfield. DeAndre Hopkins - Did not practice on Thursday with a toe injury. Not a whole of info available so stay tuned to the Friday and weekend team reports. Aaron Rodgers - Was medically cleared this week and will make his return to the Packers to face the Panthers in Week 15. Joe Mixon - Returned to a limited practice on Thursday but there is no guarantee he will be back on the field this week. If he is out, we can once again consider Gio Bernard although the decision is not as easy...
