DFS NFL Talk Week 8 – Look Back at Week 7 and Ahead to Week 8 – 10/24/17
DFS NFL Talk Week 8 - Look Back at Week 7 and Ahead to Week 8 - 10/24/17 DFSR's Doug Norrie and James Davis take a look back at Week 7 in the NFL to see how it some of the performances and injuries could affect projections going forward. Both Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler were injured, and while neither was all the good, it does stand to reason we see decreased fantasy performances from some of the key pass catchers like Larry Fitzgerald and Jarvis Landry. They talk about Mitch Trubisky's crazy low 7 passing attempts, where to rank the running back tiers with guys like Mark Ingram and Aaron Jones going forward and what to make of Amari Cooper's big week. All of this and more on a full Week 7 recap. Subscribe to this podcast on...
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 7 – 10/22/17
Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 7 - 10/22/17 Welcome back for another week of daily fantasy football. As we always do, let's take a look back and see how I did with my stack recommendations from last week. It started with rookie sensation Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans. Gameflow did not dictate a lot of throwing as Kevin Hogan was a massive disappointment on the other side of the ball but Watson was still able to get his points by throwing three touchdowns despite being limited to 29 attempts and 225 yards. The lack of yardage hurt both DeAndre Hopkins(2 of 4 for 19 yards) and Will Fuller(2 of 5 for 62) but both ended up catching a touchdown pass from Watson to salvage the stack. Things got worse as my Charger stacks flopped in a big way as they played a very low scoring defensive battle with the Raiders last Sunday. Rivers was not bad, by any means, completing 25 of 36 passes for 268 yards and no interceptions but only threw for one touchdown on the day. He ended up targeting Keenan Allen nine times but unfortunately, he only caught five of those targets for 45 yards. It was sophomore tight end Hunter Henry having the biggest day catching five of his seven targets for 90 yards and due to the tight coverage to receivers, running back Melvin Gordon caught nine of a game-high 12 targets for 67 yards and Rivers' lone touchdown. Speaking of low-scoring games, my contrarian stack of the Steelers was also a flop last week. The lesson to learn here is that just because you like a wide receiver a ton on any given week it does not necessarily mean you need to stack him with the quarterback. This game was a perfect example as Antonio Brown went off once again catching eight of his 10 targets for 155 yards and a touchdown paying off his high price tag. Those yards made up over 50% of Big Ben's total(19/25 for 252) and was his only touchdown pass. The optimal stack in this game was pairing Brown and Le'Veon Bell who rushed 32 times for 179 yards and a touchdown. The combination fo the two was very expensive but would have made a nice separation in tournaments. Lesson learned. DFS NFL Talk Week 7 - Game-by-game Breakdown for FanDuel and DraftKings 10/20/17 DFSR’s Doug Norrie and James Davis take the NFL podcast breaking down every game for Week 7 on FanDuel and DraftKings. There’s a lot to look at here with some lower scoring implied totals coming in across the board. That could end up making for a lower scoring fantasy week in general. They discuss the option of stacking Dak and Zeke together on FanDuel and looking at some mid-tier wide receivers. They break down the implications if Demarco Murray were to sit in Tennessee as well as the difference between relative and actual usage for running backs. Other bigger topics include what to do with LeSean McCoy and Julio Jones, what tight ends stand out and some games to just completely avoid. We've got you completely covered. Quarterback Dak Prescott FD 8400 DK 7300 Opponent SF Proj Points FD - 23.98 DK - 24.82 When I started writing this column, it sure looked like the Cowboys were going to be without Ezekiel Elliott this week (barring some major reversal in appeals) which would have left the nearly full weight of the Dallas offense on Dak. But even with the Zeke stay of execution our system is loving Dak against a well below average 49ers defense. The latter's coming off a week in which they allowed 330 yards passing to Kirk Cousins and just stink in general. Prescott’s sophomore campaign has seen a dip in overall completion percentage (from 67% to 62%) but an increase in TDs per game (from 1.4 to 2.2 per game) as well as a slight bump in passing yards. He’s also adding more points on the ground where he ranks fifth among all QBs despite playing one game less than everyone ahead of him on the list. They haven't been able to rely quite so heavily on the run this season even in plus matchups. I think you can look for a high floor on Prescott even with the Zeke news. Russell Wilson FD 8100 DK 6400 Opponent NYG Proj Points FD - 20.69 DK - 21.45 He’s another quarterback coming off a bye playing a still decimated Giants’ team (I’m reading very little into what happened in Denver last week). Wilson's completion percentage is down a little this year off his career averages, but he's running a ton more than last season thanks to an offensive line letting interior defenders to get into the pocket sooner. It's not a huge fantasy concern seeing as how the running makes up for a lot in the points scoring department. Wilson's on pace for nearly 500 yards on the ground which is such a huge boost in the "fantasy floor" department. It makes up quite a bit of ground on traditional pocket passers and is why you'll see running QBs in these picks more often than not. The Giants are slightly better against the pass than the run this season (20th and 27th in DVOA respectively before last week's shut down of Denver). Vegas...
