With FanDuel and DraftKings releasing early pricing, the guys thought it a great chance to begin looking at the upcoming NBA season and give some insight into how they produce their projections and what this year will mean with such massive turnover in the NBA. It’s a season unlike anything we’ve seen before with so much superstar upheaval and it could make for some interesting theories on projections especially early on. The guys use the first night’s games, a two-game slate, to give an inner look at how they think about things like usage, playing time and opportunity for players in new situations. They discuss the new-look Pelicans, a Raptors team without their Finals MVP, how the Lakers will use their big-two and of course the Clippers who now have Kawhi Leonard but will be without Paul George to start the season. Then they roll through some over/under season win totals on MyBookie.ag (Promocode: Overtime) with some thoughts about teams compared to last year and what it means to bet in this current iteration of the NBA. You can also read some of our team betting previews where we've covered the New York Knicks and how we liked the over on their wins. We also covered the Brooklyn Nets and their prospects this season. And finally we took a look at the Portland...

2019-2020 NBA Betting Preview: Will the Brooklyn Nets Additions Add up to More Wins?

NBA Preview: Will the Brooklyn Nets Additions Actually Add up to More Wins? Leading up to the start of the season, we'll be looking at a bunch of different teams, breaking down their offseasons, and looking ahead how they project relative to their Vegas implied win total. We already covered the New York Knicks and how we liked the over on their wins. Now we take a look at the team across town, the Nets. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NFL, NBA and MLB optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Brooklyn Nets 2018-2019 Record 42-40 2018-2019 Point Differential -0.1 2018-2019 Pythagorean Record 40-40 Offseason Additions Kevin Durant (recovering from injury) Kyrie Irving DeAndre Jordan Taurean Prince Wilson Chandler Garrett Temple Offseason Losses D’Angelo Russell Ed Davis Demarre Carroll Rondae Hollis-Jefferson Projected Starting Lineup Kyrie Irving, Caris Levert, Joe Harris, Taurean Prince, Jarrett Allen Key Bench Players Spencer Dinwiddie, Rodion Kurucs, DeAndre Jordan, Wilson Chandler (suspended), David Nwaba, Garrett Temple The Nets were the darlings of the offseason (until the Clippers’ thing happened), locking up both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to contracts and ushering in a new era of New York basketball. It was a major coup for a franchise only a few years removed from being seemingly locked into long-term rebuilding hell. Following a first round exit to the Philadelphia 76ers, the future looked bright enough on its own considering they’d taken some young pieces and a reclamation project (or two) turning them into a viable NBA team that even took a game in the series. Then they went ahead and signed two of the best players in the league to fit around a young core of players. Typically, teams tend to improve season-over-season by retaining their best parts and upgrading along the edges or in the spaces they most needed help. The Nets didn’t take that approach this offseason. They went about it by just taking the best available players and calling it a day. Let me be clear, this is almost always going to be the correct approach. In terms of Win Shares, here were the Nets’ four *best* players last season: Jarrett Allen 7.6 Ed Davis 5.7 Joe Harris 5.5 D’Angelo Russell 5.0 Two of those players are gone, replaced with guys at the same position. This isn't the typical linear upgrade apprach and it does leave us in a somewhat weird spot about how to evaluate their prospects for THIS season. Should they be better? It seems so. Will they be significantly better? I’m not so sure. Sure they finished the...

Following a simply awesome day of Sunday basketball with two Game 7’s that, while not pretty, lived up to expectation in the drama department. Trail Blazers (8) vs. Warriors (-8) Projected Score: Golden State - 113.5 Portland - 105.5 Over/Under: 219 Series: 0-0 Portland wrestled away Game 7 from Denver on the road to advance for a somewhat improbable chance at making the Finals. The Warriors open the series at -520 in one they should move through easily. But that’s famous last words with these playoffs. Portland took a hero effort from Damian Lillard in Round 1 to move past the Thunder including the *second best* buzzer beater of the playoffs. They are without Jusuf Nurkic, arguably their second-best player this season and have worked rotations more than any other team in the playoffs in order to get everything they can out of matchups. Meanwhile, the Warriors moved past the Rockets, winning Games 5 and 6 despite losing Kevin Durant in the former. They’ll be without Durant for at least the first two games of this series and maybe longer. The injury reports out of the Warriors are vague at best. Portland Value We have a couple of different issues, from a projection standpoint, when it comes to the Blazers. First off, they are nearly impossible to get a handle on regarding their rotations. For instance, in Game 7 against the Nuggets, Al-Farouq Aminu (FD 4300 DK 4000) and Maurice Harkless (FD 4000 DK 3800) started and played a combined 24 minutes (Aminu-7, Harkless-17). The bench guys were the story. Additionally, I suppose there is at least some blowout concern if the Warriors start really moving downhill with their offense (plus Portland could be pretty gassed coming in). That being said, Rodney Hood sure looks like he’s going to miss some time to start the series at least and...

FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Playoff Picks - Sunday Preview Two game sevens in one day! What more could a hardcore NBA fan ask for? Can the Sixers upset the Raptors? Is the Denver/Portland series all of a sudden insanely relevant given Durant's injury? It's the final two game slate of NBA, friends, so let's enjoy it. We've got you completely covered. Trail Blazers (5.5) vs. Nuggets (-5.5) Vegas Projected Score: Denver: 109 Portland: 104.5 Over/Under: 212.5 Series: Tied 3-3 Six games later, and at least we know what these teams want to do by now. Denver jumped out to an 8 point lead after the first quarter in game one, but Portland has shown as much battle as anyone in the entire postseason so far. Both teams seem to be setting down the gimmicks and letting their best five decide this series, and game seven could be a classic. Let's look at the individual teams more closely. Denver Jamal Murray FD - $8500 DK - $7200Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 42.52 DK - 43.92 Gary Harris FD - $6000 DK - $5200Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 32.09 DK - 32.37 Denver has decided that only two guards should play in this series, with Murray and Harris combining for 86 of the 96 guard minutes. You're paying peak prices for both of them, but both of them were handily worth these prices in game 6. There's really not much else to say - if these are the only two guards playing for Denver you're going to play them in cash games on a two game slate. Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap are obviously established as the other two pieces that Denver will be relying on, and it's not terrible to run them out there against Portland's hobbled front-court. The Trail Blazers can not seem to decide what they want to do down low, with the Enes Kanter plan sort of fizzling out and them getting away from Aminu altogether. You have to think that this pair can punish Collins and Kanter, and the floor seems to be plenty high. Portland Now here's a team with some intrigue. The Trail Blazers decided they had seen enough of Moe Harkless and Al-Farouq Aminu in game 6, and wound up giving extended run...
