Pitchers Robbie Ray FD - P 11200 DK - SP 10700 Opponent - BAL (Chris Ellis) Park - BAL FD - 36.78 DK - 19.47 Ray has crept his way up to almost being the favorite for the CY Young award in the American League. Sure, his closest competition dealing with injuries has helped but Ray has been elite in his own right, especially down the stretch. He enters the night with four straight starts tallying double-digit K's and 32+ DK/55+ FD points. The matchup is only average as O's are much better against lefties than righties but Ray has been matchup-proof lately and is easily my top pitcher in all formats. Framber Valdez FD 10500 DK 9100 Opponent - LAA (Shohei Ohtani) Park - LAA FD - 37.14 DK - 19.64 Valdez has been on a roller coaster ride in the second half but we cannot ignore the matchup against the Angels as outside of Ohtani it is getting pretty ugly. Going back to the beginning of August they rank last in wOBA(.280), 2nd to last in wRC+(77), and 3rd in K rate(25.4%). Despite a few bad starts, Valdez enters the night with a sparkling 3.08 ERA backed up by a 3.51 xFIP but does lack big K upside(22%) so he falls to #2 in my rankings tonight. Still safe in all formats and my top SP2 on DraftKings. Catcher/First Base Salvador Perez FD - C 4200 DK - C 5800 Opponent - MIN (Griffin Jax) Park - MIN FD - 10.02 DK - 7.62 I never thought I would be leading off with a nearly $6K catcher but here we are. The Royals are once again one of the top projected offenses in a great spot against Griffin Jax who has given up 19 earned runs(6 HR) over his last three starts and sits with a 6.79 ERA/5.66 xFIPon the season. For Perez, he has been in beast mode in the second half with a .403 wOBA/157 wRC+ and leads the league in that time with 21 home runs. It's another Royals chalk night and it starts with Perez in all formats. Pitchers Marcus Stroman FD - P 8900 DK - SP 9400 Opponent - MIA (Jesús Luzardo) Park - MIA FD - 33.74 DK - 17.35 Pitching is a mess once again on Thursday but the good news is the top option is pretty straightforward here. While Stroman doesn't really provide that slate-breaking upside, he has been very consistent in 2021 as he enters with a 2.93 ERA/3.65 xFIP. Justifying the top price on the slate is the matchup against the Marlins who are a mid-pack offense overall and have struggled recently to a .278 wOBA/75 wRC+(both bottom 5) over the last couple of weeks. All things considered, Stroman is my top pitcher in all formats. Ranger Suárez FD - P 8600 DK - SP 7400 Opponent - COL (Antonio Senzatela) Park - PHI FD - 24.87 DK - 12.72 After dominating out of the bullpen for most of the season, the Phillies have eased him into the rotation and it is paying off as he has posted a stellar 1.71 ERA. The only concern here is that he was pulled after 71 pitches in his last start but manage, Joe Girardi stated it was merely precautionary. I will take his word for it as we don't really have many options. Either way, Suarez gets a plus matchup against the Rockies who have struggled recently(.303 wOBA/74 wRC+) and rank dead last on the road with a .273 wOBA and 68 wRC+. Suarez is my top SP2 on DraftKings and a GPP punt on FanDuel. Catcher/First Base Freddie Freeman FD 3900 DK 6000 Opponent - WSH (Erick Fedde) Park - WSH FD - 15.81 DK - 11.83 Very small slate tonight but one thing is very clear. Get as many Braves in your lineup as possible. It starts with a matchup against Erick Fedde who has given up nine earned runs in his last two starts and enters with a 5.27 ERA on the season. For Freeman, he is one the best hitters in the game and despite a "down season" still enters the night with a near-elite .291/.388/.497 slash line. Provided enough value shows up tonight, Freeman is my top overall play at first base with his best value coming on FanDuel. It took me more time than usual to select my guys, but I feel like that could be beneficial. I really dug deep into our projections and was able to spot some major values from some of the best players in baseball. We also have some volatile pitchers, and it's definitely looking like a GPP slate with all the question marks out there. With that in mind, let's kick things off with a pitcher who's due for a bounceback start. Pitchers Yu Darvish FD - P 9000 DK - SP 9300 Opponent - LAA (Undecided) Park - SD FD - 35.75 DK - 20.22 Darvish was actually one of the best pitchers in baseball before hitting a slide around the All-Star break, but we believe he can return to that form here. Let's kick things off by talking about his early-season form, with Darvish dialing up a 2.44 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 10.8 K/9 rate through June. His numbers have been falling since then, but he's still got a solid 4.05 ERA and 1.07 WHIP for the year. The main reason we think he can bounce back is this matchup, with Los Angeles playing without Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon. That's turned them into one of the worst lineups in baseball, which was evident when Blake Snell had a no-hitter through six innings against them on Tuesday. Matt Harvey FD - P 6200 DK - SP 5300 Opponent - KC (Mike Minor) Park - BAL FD - 33.72 DK - 16.21 No, I'm not crazy. Harvey was one of the worst pitchers in baseball for the first few months, but something has changed recently. Despite owning a 6.28 ERA for the season, Harvey has really turned his season around. In fact, The Dark Knight has a 3.99 ERA and 1.12 WHIP over his last nine starts. That's a ridiculous run from a guy this cheap, and using Harvey will allow you to do whatever you want with your lineup. All you really need from him is a bad quality start, and that seems possible in a matchup like this with the way he's rolling. The Royals currently rank 27th in OBP and 26th in wOBA this season. Pitchers Blake Snell FD 10100 DK 9200 Opponent - LAA (Packy Naughton) Park - LAAFD - 35.77 DK - 18.86 We have some interesting choices to make on today’s slate with some high total even games to target expensive bats. But I think we can confidently run Snell out there in cash games, especially on DraftKings where he is just $9200. Snell’s walk rate is a bit of a concern this season, but man has he been awesome in his last few starts. Over his last three he has 29 strikeouts and just four walks in 19.2 innings. Those are just elite numbers and he will face a compromised Angels’ offense in this one. There is no early line of the game but expect the Padres to be big favorites here. Zac Gallen FD 7900 DK 7900 Opponent - TEX (Spencer Howard) Park - TEXFD - 33.18 DK - 17.93 If looking for a cheaper arm, I think we can consider targeting Gallen here. He is a solid home favorite at -164 against the Rangers. Texas ranks dead last in team offense this season, tied with the Pirates and strikeout more than 23% of the time. Gallen has some K stuff in his repertoire, striking out batters at a 26% clip on the season. The walks are an issue though and that has, at times, meant he struggles to go longer into games. But at this price point considering some of the bigger bats on the slate, he is a good option to go cheaper, especially as a DK SP2. Catcher/First Base Freddie Freeman FD 3900 DK 5700 Opponent - WSH (Paolo Espino) Park - WSHFD - 15.21 DK - 11.38 Like I said at the top, there are some offenses in good spots on this slate and the Braves are one of them against Paolo Espino. The righty is a middling starter who is only striking out 7.33 batters per nine through 86 innings this season. Freeman meanwhile is having a down year for him, but still is in the upper 800s with his OPS, getting on base around 39% of the time. He is tough to strikeout and should have the ball in play against Espino here. Buster Posey FD 3300 DK 4400 Opponent - COL (Chi Chi González) Park - COLFD - 13.48 DK - 10.38 The Giants are the other team in a great spot here on...

Pitchers Brandon Woodruff FD - P 10500 DK - SP 9600 Opponent - PHI (Zack Wheeler) Park - MIL FD - 40.6 DK - 23.21 Two pitchers in the thick of the National League CY Young race go head to head on Monday afternoon and while I will have exposure to both in GPP I lean Woodruff in cash games. First of all, he is cheaper on DraftKings which could provide huge on this smaller slate. What really stands out is the current form as Wheeler has struggled mightily giving up 4+ earned runs in four straight. For Woodruff, even with one big dud(6 earned runs @STL), has been terrific with a 3.03 ERA and 30% K rate in the second half. The floor feel much safer making him my top pitcher on this slate. Sonny Gray FD - P 9200 DK - SP 9000 Opponent - CHC (Justin Steele) Park - CHC FD - 34.47 DK - 18.64 Given this smaller slate and the elite matchup against the Cubs, I absolutely love the price on Sonny Gray considering he was over $10K in early August. Since two bad starts out of the ASB, he has been terrific posting a 2.79 ERA/3.95 xFIP and 25% K rate over his last seven starts. He now gets arguably his best matchup of the second half as a -165 favorite against a depleted Cubs team. He is my favorite PTS/$ pitcher on FanDuel and my favorite SP2 on DraftKings in all formats. Catcher/First Base Vladimir Guerrero Jr. FD - 1B 4500 DK - 1B 5600 Opponent - NYY (Jameson Taillon) Park - NYY FD - 12.25 DK - 9.29 This almost feels like a DraftKings pricing mistake as Vladdy comes in red-hot yet has seen his price drop to near season-low levels. He extended his hit streak to 13 games on Sunday and if not for Shohei Ohtani doing never-before-seen-things, he would be the AL MVP as well. He now gets to face a struggling Jameson Taillon that has given up 21 hits and 17 earned runs over his last four starts. There is no way the price stays here so buy low while you can.
