We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Luis Severino FD 10400 DK 12400 Opponent - TB (Andriese) Park - @NYY FD - 42.86 DK - 28.24 This late in the year, there isn't a single pitcher that is safe on any given night. Most guys are only seeing 80-90 pitches and the others aren't very good. While we will occasionaly see a game with a contender looking for a spot, we don't have any that stick out tonight. There are some teams in contention or guarding a spot, but they aren't in great spots. We're going to look at Luis Severino first, who falls in the first set. He may only see an upwards of 90 or 95 pitches, but they should be very productive against the Rays. We know how bad the Rays have been all year long and over just the last 60 days, they have held a team .301 wOBA and 24% strikeout rate against righties. On the season, the wOBA rises just .2 and the K rate jumps to nearly 26%. They're also far worse on the road with a .287 wOBA, so the Rays are all kinds of bad against right-handed pitching. Severino on the other hand, has posted a .274 combined wOBA while striking out 10.62 batters per 9 innings. He's an elite pitcher at this point and you have to look at him as the safest option on the board. The Rays stink, the Yankees want to win and Severino is a great pitcher. That's all you can ask for at this point in the season.   Garrett Richards FD 7200 DK 7900 Opponent - CHW (Lopez) Park - @CHW FD - 28.18 DK - 18.66 If you need some extra money and are still looking for some safety, Garrett Richards is a solid choice. If you haven't been paying attention to the MLB for very long, Richards may not be a familiar name. He was a huge Angels prospect and the ace coming into 2015, but has been dealing with injuries on and off ever since. The point is that he has the pedigree and the "stuff" to get it done. He also faces one of the worst offenses in baseball in the Chicago White Sox. The offense is just Yoan...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Yu Darvish FD 9600 DK 12300 Opponent - SD (Wood) Park - @LAD FD - 35.95 DK - 23.79 Nearing the end of the season, you can almost throw the word "safe" out the window when talking about pitching. Most guys are either coasting into the playoffs and only throwing 85-95 pitches or they are out of the race and winding down. Darvish is part of that first group, but at least he has everything else working for him. Even at 95 pitches, Darvish should be able to produce against the Padres. He has dominated in his last 2 with 0 earned runs in 12 innings, but a lot of people are still scared about that rough stretch beforehand. Darvish is one of the nastiest starters in the league and will always hold an elite strikeout rate (10.2). Against the Padres in Dodgers Field, he's safe. The Padres have posted a .299 wOBA against righties and have backed it up with a putrid 25.1% strikeout rate. Darvish is expensive, but he's probably your safest bet for a quality start. Jon Lester FD 8400 DK 8400 Opponent - STL (Weaver) Park - @STL FD - 32.17 DK - 21.31 Jon Lester was absolutely horrible last start, so I don't think many will want to play him with so many talented arms on the slate. Lester is one of the rare pitchers who doesn't fit into either of the 2 aforementioned categories. The Cubs are playing for the division lead and the Cardinals are the team chasing them. Lester is extremely good against left-handed dominant lineups and we know the Cardinals are much worse against lefties. On the season, the Cards have sported a .331 wOBA and a 23% strikeout rate. Busch Stadium is much better for pitching than Wrigley Field and Lester has held a .276 combined wOBA on the road. His price is a bit lower than it should be on both sites and I'll have exposure in both formats. Lester is a big game pitcher and I would expect him to get into postseason form before long. We know the Cardinals can be shut down. They also lack the big speed that usually gets to Lester and causes him to...

We've got you completely covered. Boston Red Sox With a full slate of day games on the table, you'd expect a few more offenses to have run totals exceeding 5 runs. The Red Sox certainly do, sitting at 5.28 as we speak. The Sox have the honor of facing off with Jackson Stephens, who's not a MLB-caliber arm. Before getting called up, Stephens was walking over 3 batters per 9 innings in AA/AAA. He does have good movement on his pitches, but that movement far too often brings it into the dirt or 3 feet off the plate. He's struggled in his early innings in the majors and is going up against his toughest test yet in the form of the Boston Red Sox. The Sox hit righties well with a .341 wOBA, and oh ya, they move into one of the greatest parks to hit at in baseball. Fenway is definitely great, but it's nearly impossible for some guys to hit it out to right. The Great American Ballpark was right there with Coors Field in HR expectancy last year and it's kept up in 2017. Benintendi and Mookie are my favorites, with Moreland and Bogaerts following closely behind. The whole order can be played in a GPP as I don't think Stephens gets pas the 4th or 5th inning. Make sure to have some Red Sox exposure. Main Stack - Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Xander Bogaerts, Mitch Moreland Sneaky Stack - Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers, Jackie Bradley Jr. Texas Rangers It's not too tough to figure out why you want to stack against Jharel Cotton. First things first, he's just as bad against both sides of the plate. In a stack situation, that's ideal. It pushes you away from having to jump certain guys in the order and then be pissed when they come up with a platoon advantage out of the bullpen. With this one, you can stack a consecutive 4 guys, no matter their handedness. Cotton has allowed a .362 wOBA to righties and a .359 to lefties. He has an HR issue and runs into...

We've got you completely covered. Clayton Kershaw FD 11700 DK 13400 Opponent - SF (Stratton) Park - @LADFD - 45.29 DK - 29.87 THis is the best pitcher you'll ever see in this article, but it was going to happen one way or another. We have 3 elite arms on the mound today in Max Scherzer, Corey Kluber, and Clayton Kershaw. We touched on Scherzer and Kluber in the main picks article and will now look at Kershaw + a cheaper option. The big problem with Kershaw recently is that the Dodgers don't have much to play for. They are locked into the playoffs and it's not worth risking any injury for statistical purposes. When you have an arm like Clayton Kershaw that has be relied upon heavily for 5 years and the injuries are there, you have to be careful. Still, he will get around 90 pitches and that could very well be enough against the Giants. The Giants are one of the worst teams in baseball at the plate and have held a .320 wOBA with a 23% strikeout rate against lefties. Kershaw is unstoppable at home and I do expect about 6 clean innings here. With that being said, Scherzer and Kluber will be in my cash games. Kershaw will not. Jose Berrios FD 8100 DK 9700 Opponent - DET (Farmer) Park - @DETFD - 31.5 DK - 20.94 If those 3 aces are all a bit too pricey, I get it. In a tournament, you can fade them and pay up for big bats. Those big bats will be under 10% owned and could 2-3 of them could very well outscore/match any pitching performance. However, don't do it in cash games. In cash, you play one of the top options and you move on. As for this cheaper option we speak of, it's Jose Berrios. Berrios can be expected to be around the price of Scherzer in 2018, but we're not there yet. Berrios is one of the biggest prospects in baseball and has been regarded as one of the safest. He has a major-league demeanor with major-league stuff. He's...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Corey Kluber FD 12000 DK 13100 Opponent - SEA (Leake) Park - @SEA FD - 46.22 DK - 30.61 On first glance, the number of aces on this slate is crazy. It's not as great as it seems, though, as the season is winding down and there are some guys who won't see a full complement of pitches. Kluber, however, has no problem of that kind. He has gone 7+ innings in 6 straight starts and is pretty close to locking up the Cy Young. He gets a pretty fair match-up with the Mariners in a tremendous ballpark for pitchers. The Mariners have been exactly league average against righties with a .324 season wOBA, but strikeout a lot at 23%. They are much worse in Safeco Field and very rarely blow up a pitcher. Kluber is arguably the best pitcher in baseball and I know he's the 1 guy I wouldn't want to face right now. Since the start of the season, Kluber has held righties to a .225 wOBA and lefties to a .250. I know, lefties really dominate him. In this ballpark, I expect the Klubot to cruise as much as he has recently. His floor is about 6 innings and 7 K's, with a CGSO ceiling. The Mariners are nothing special and certainly won't stand in the way of Kluber if he is on his game. If you have the funds, there's no reason not to pay up. Max Scherzer FD 10800 DK 12900 Opponent - NYM (deGrom) Park - @NYM FD - 45.68 DK - 30.15 If you told me there would be 2 pitchers more expensive than Max Scherzer on a slate just a month ago, I would have called you crazy. He has struggled a bit recently and just hasn't been shown the upside he typically does. With that being said, the definition of struggle is pretty relative. We are talking about Max Scherzer, so his bad games are still 6-7 innings and close to double-digit strikeouts. You just have to e careful with his HR problems. He gets a phenomenal match-up with a lifeless Mets team who has all but given up on the season. Scherzer did have a dominant start last time out against the...
