We've got you completely covered.   Pitchers Max Scherzer FD 12000 DK 13000 Opponent - CHC (Arrieta) Park - @WSH FD - 43.63 DK - 28.74 We touched on James Paxton and Jeff Hoffman in the main picks article, and they remain great plays in both formats. We did ignore Max Scherzer, but he is always going to be in play. He faces off against a Cubs team that holds the lowest implied team total of the day and is expected to be shut down. Scherzer has been as dominant as ever this season, sporting a 12.2 K/9 and an impressive combined wOBA of .216. To see his record sitting at 8-5 truly speaks to how little that stat really means. The Cubs are definitely still one of the best teams in the league, but you can't say they haven't struggled. They've sat around the middle of the pack with a .320 team wOBA and while they will certainly improve, they haven't yet. Scherzer is not a great candidate to get your swing back against either. While the price is steep and there are some offenses to pay up for, Scherzer has a chance to give you 60 points and separate you from the field. In both cash games and tournaments, he's worth considering. Luis Severino FD 9300 DK 10100 Opponent - CHW (Quintana) Park - @CHW FD - 35.06 DK - 23.2 Luis Severino is the guy who Yankees fans are most excited about in the rotation. He has true ace upside and is already showing flashes of it. He's been one of the best pitchers in the AL to date, posting a .285 wOBA against lefties and a .259 against righties. He's striking out more than a batter per inning and faces off with a White Sox team with a ton of righties. Those righties also strikeout a lot, contributing to the team 25% rate. They sit in the bottom of the barrel against right-handed pitching and show no signs of getting better. Jose Abreu is always going to be a scary bat, but he's much better against lefties and strikes out with the best...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher James Paxton FD 8500 DK 8700 Opponent - PHI (Nola) Park - @SEA FD - 33.67 DK - 22.15 I know, Max Scherzer is on the slate and you probably expected him to be here. He's still obviously in play, but he faces the Cubs and isn't even a huge favorite. At his price, I really don't think he's a must in cash games. With that being said, he's still Max Scherzer and I couldn't blame anyone for playing him in cash games for that sole reason. He has more upside than anyone on the slate and if he pitches his optimal game, nobody will be better. We're going to take a step down in pricing and look at James Paxton. Paxton struggled out of the gate after returning from the DL, but found his strikeout pitch last game and gave up 2 runs that shouldn't have scored (error). He looks to be back to the real James Paxton. The real James Paxton is a guy with an 11 K/9 and a 2.53 combined wOBA. Paxton was in the race for Cy Young before he got injured and isn't priced like it. He faces off with the Philadelphia Phillies, who are absolutely horrible. They hold the 21st wOBA in baseball against lefties at .310, but I can assure you, they would be a firm 30 if they played at Safeco Field every night. Safeco Field is one of the top 3 parks for pitching and these Mariners pitchers are excellent at taking advantage. The Phillies are easily one the worst teams in all of baseball and you have to love Paxton in both cash games and tournaments. Jeff Hoffman FD 7400 DK 8100 Opponent - SF (Cain) Park - @SF FD - 29.96 DK - 19.79 This one may come as a bit of a surprise. Just because Jeff Hoffman is coming up with the Rockies, he gets the reputation of sucking. It's just not anywhere further from the truth. Hoffman was drafted with the 9th overall pick in just 2014. He has superstar pedigree and moved up the ranks in the minors extremely fast and efficiently. He's now in the majors and has dominated some more. Yes, he has struggled against...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher Chris Sale FD 11700 DK 12900 Opponent - MIN (Berrios) Park - @BOS FD - 46.76 DK - 30.94 This is definitely a pretty weird slate. We have a few main offenses who stand out, with the rest being very unattractive. That leaves us with some guys who will be very highly-owned. The same can be said for the pitcher position. Chris Sale is the clear top option and I don't think anyone is a close 2nd. This may result in some high ownership, but hey, I'm jumping on board. The Twins travel to Fenway Park and hold the day's lowest implied run total. Sale has been one of the league's best pitchers so far this season, sporting a combined 2.64 xFIP and a crazy 12.2 K/9. He hasn't disappointed much at all, which has been one of his big issues over his career. When we're seeing a consistent Chris Sale, he is worth the price of Clayton Kershaw. He takes on a Twins lineup who strikes out plenty, holding a 21.3% strikeout rate since the beginning of 2017. They hold a very average .314 wOBA against lefties and only have 1 or 2 guys who truly intimidate. Miguel Sano and Brian Dozier are certainly great against lefties, but that's about it. Mauer, Kepler, Polanco, and Buxton all hold 24%+ K rates against lefties, which basically make them a guaranteed K machine against Sale. All in all, Sale is going to have a fantastic game and it really just depends on if you can afford him. Let's take a look at a guy who comes in a bit cheaper. Jeff Samardzija FD 8300 DK 8400 Opponent - COL (Marquez) Park - @SF FD - 38.92 DK - 25.64 Jeff Samardzija isn't the best pitcher out there, but he one of those guys who "gets it done". He doesn't strikeout a ton, he doesn't hold a super low GB rate, but he does eat up innings and limits run production. He's held a .335 wOBA against lefties and a .305 against righties. He's also held a 28% hard contact rate, so guys are simply not putting the barrel on the ball. In AT&T Park, that's a huge problem for an offense to have....

We've got you completely covered. Boston Red Sox We have a huge Sunday slate on our hands with a lot of solid offenses to choose from. There are 2 teams with an implied run total over 6. The Yankees and the Red Sox. The Red Sox face off with Parker Bridwell, a young righty without much to showcase. He held a 4.50 FIP in AA last year and won't be around here in the majors much longer. Mike Scioscia has also been very careful with his young starters, so I highly doubt Bridwell lasts more than 3 or 4 innings. He's been just as bad (.400 wOBA) against lefties as righties and I don't think his pitches shown him having big splits. Once you get past Bridwell, you get a bullpen that holds the 24th wOBA on the road. The Red Sox will see bad pitchers all game long and it just comes down to whether they can perform or not. Mookie Betts is the easiest choice of all, hitting leadoff and hitting righties extremely well. After that, the Red Sox have a lot of guys. Pedroia and Bogaerts are very safe, as is Benintendi. Hanley and Moreland are both at first and have lots of HR potential. All in all, they shouldn't be too highly owned and yu can mix this offense up a lot in tournaments. Main Stack - Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts Sneaky Stack - Mookie Betts, Dustin Pedroia, Mitch Moreland, Jackie Bradley New York Yankees The Yankees have been one of the best offenses all year round and they see one of the best match-ups of the entire season. Nick Martinez has been in our lives for a while. He was once a guy we would stack everyone against. He was the worst pitcher in baseball and made a lot of people money. He then improved and became a guy you ignored. At this point, he's somewhere in the middle, though closer to the bad arm he was 5 years ago. He's now allowing a .350 wOBA to righties and a .305 to righties. With a...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher Brandon McCarthy FD 8000 DK 7500 Opponent - COL (Marquez) Park - @LAD FD - 31.81 DK - 20.91 This is one of the worst pitching slates of the entire year. In terms of a big slate like this, I can't remember one being this putrid. Even on most tough pitching days, you have a talented guy or two who's simply in a rough match-up. Today, we have a ton of very average arms. From Ariel Miranda to Scott Feldman to Chad Kuhl, there is a lot to ignore. By default, we've ended up on Brandon McCarthy. The Rockies currently hold the days' lowest implied run total at just 3.76 runs. McCarthy is cheap enough to not worry about being forced to pay down elsewhere, while also being expensive enough to not be 40% owned. The Rockies are one of the worst teams on the road in all of the league, sitting with a sad .298 wOBA dating back to 2015. CarGo, Blackmon, and Arenado are obviously all very scary, but the rest of the order strikes out a ton and don't have much upside in Los Angeles. Dodger Stadium is definitely a pitcher friendly park and McCarthy has been phenomenal there over the recent years. With that being said, he can be blown up with ease. This is a very weird slate and one where you may want to avoid cash games as a whole. Julio Teheran FD 8400 DK 7700 Opponent - MIL (Davies) Park - @ATL FD - 27.73 DK - 18.46 Like every other pitcher on this slate, Teheran has a boatload of risk. There is a decent shot the likes of Travis Shaw and Eric Thames do a lot of damage. We just don't have the luxury to take anyone else in this spot. Teheran is a pretty talented arm and he has shown the ability to work deep at home. The Brewers also strikeout the 4th most in the majors, so the upside is certainly there. Teheran is honestly not too tough to figure out. He's always been the same pitcher as he currently is, mightily struggling against lefties all the while dominating right-handers. So far in 2017, he's sporting a .369 wOBA against lefties and a .301...
