Mike Clevinger FD 8400 DK 7800 Opponent - BAL (Miley) Park - @CLEFD - 31.04 DK - 20.61 In the main picks article, Chris gave you Scherzer, Corbin and Weaver, all excellent options in their own right and I'll have a ton of Mad Max in my cash games tonight, but if you want to look for some cheaper pivots with plenty of upside then you my friend are in the right place. We start out with Mike Clevinger of the Indians hosting the Orioles in Progressive Field. The Indians are riding a 15 game winning streak and Vegas sees no reason for that to end tonight against Wade Miley favoring Clevinger as a -151 favorite in the early returns. Clevinger is one of those pitchers that can be hard to pin down, sometimes he steps on the hill and delivers and other times he just gets hit around. Through his last five outings he has been a little more consistent striking out 9 batters twice and allowing a total of just six earned runs in that stretch. Clevinger has fared better from the right side of the plate this season limiting right handed bats to a .265 wOBA while compiling a 28.5 K% against them. He should cruise through the righty heavy Baltimore line up and has upside for days at his price point. Collin McHugh FD 8000 DK 8500 Opponent - OAK (Cotton) Park - @OAKFD - 31.45 DK - 20.78 If Clevinger feels just a little too risky for you then consider Collin McHugh against the Athletics. Houston is in Oakland this weekend and will send McHugh out for his ninth start of the season. In his injury shortened campaign, McHugh has been fairly consistent making it into the sixth inning in all but three starts while allowing more than 2 earned runs in just two. The 8.5 K/9 rate is consistent with his career numbers and the 7.5% HR/FB rate is a career best. He'll face a challenge traveling into Oakland Coliseum, one of the friendliest parks for hitters in the game and the wind...

We've got you completely covered. Luis Castillo FD 9100 DK 11000 Opponent - MIL (Garza) Park - @CINFD - 33.53 DK - 22.24 On this early slate, there isn't much in terms of pitching. I think most will look towards the Angels game, but I'm not sure how big of a fan I am of targeting those offenses with those pitchers. They aren't great offenses, but set up extremely well for the type of pitcher. Instead, we will take a look at Luis Castillo. Luis Castillo has shown some insane stuff this season and I can't expect anything less here. The Brewers are absolutely atrocious against righties with a .306 wOBA and 25% strikeout rate. Castillo is a K pitcher. That's what he does. In this match-up, the double digit upside is certainly there. On the other side of things, he can get rattled. He's young and has control problems on occasion. All in all, he will be my top option on the slate. I don't see myself fading his upside for any of these lackluster arms. Jose Quintana FD 11100 DK 10800 Opponent - PIT (Cole) Park - @PITFD - 34.96 DK - 23.02 On this main slate, it's Carlos Carrasco and then the field. Still, Jose Quintana is talented. On a slate like this, sometimes I want to just go where the talent is. He is one of the 3 best pitchers on the slate and while the match-up isn't good, he can still have a solid game. Quintana has sported a ..297 combined wOBA and has upped his strikeout rate to 9.81 on the season to just under 2 walks. The Pirates are much better against lefties, but they're still pretty weak as a whole. If Quintana is able to get around the top 4 in the order, he will be fine. That's obviously quite the task, and he admittedly is risky because of it. In cash games, just keep walking. In tournaments, you may be able to get a guy for 10% owned that ends up the top arm on the slate. GRAB A FREE TRIAL OF OUR PROJECTION SYSTEM,...

We've got you completely covered. Tampa Bay Rays On this early slate, stacking doesn't seem like the way to go. There are a lot of average hitting teams against average pitchers. With that being said, the Rays do stand out a bit. They face off with Austin Slegers, who is just a rookie and 25-years-old. Slegers hasn't been good in the majors and Vegas doesn't think he turns it around here. He was pretty solid in AAA, but he still had issues with command and striking out lefties. He now moves to the majors and has to face the Tampa Bay Rays. While the rays will often struggle against good pitchers, they can be effective. They have a few bats with power and a few others with speed. Slegers, being a righty, has been far worse against lefties. Corey Dickerson, Logan Morrison, and Lucas Duda are my 3 favorites, with Kevin Kiermaier a close 4th. The Rays aren't as bad as people think, but the bottom of the order is. I'm not a big fan of a sneaky stack if you're stacking the Rays. It's already a big enough deal if their stars can get it done. Main Stack - Corey Dickerson, Kevin Kiermaier, Logan Morrison, Lucas Duda / Wilson Ramos Cleveland Indians If you took a look at the main picks article, you saw quite a few Cleveland Indians. They face off with Reynaldo Lopez and the White Sox, so it makes a lot of sense. This entire White Sox pitching staff is horrible and I'm not sure there are any worse in baseball. Lopez is actually better than a couple of them, but he's still no good. He's allowed a .341 wOBA, though he hasn't pitched nearly enough innings to judge. He welcomes them into Guaranteed Rate Field, which happens to be a top 10 power park. The Indians are an extremely lethal offense and we know the production can come from a lot of different spots. Jose Ramirez and Carlos Santana both destroy righties and are my 2 favorite options. After that, you got Lindor and Encarnacion. Both are...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Carlos Carrasco FD 10100 DK 12600 Opponent - CHW (Lopez) Park - @CHW FD - 39.41 DK - 25.83 Upon first glance of this slate, it doesn't take long to figure out who the top option is at pitcher. Even with a full slate on our hands, the pitching is pretty awful. There's a clear step down from the top dog and the field. Carlos Carrasco and the Indians will look to bounce back tonight after Danny Salazar pulled a Danny Salazar last night. Carrasco is far more consistent than Salazar and has the ability to go much deeper in games. He's been phenomenal on the season, sporting a combined .288 wOBA and a 10+ K/9. He faces off with the White Sox, who are bad. I don't care if they put up a million runs last night. This is an offense that has struck out +25+ of the time against righties and have posted a .297 wOBA since the break. The ballpark isn't great, but that's the only thing working Carrasco Carrasco in this spot. Vegas has the Sox projected for just under 3 runs and easily the lowest on the slate. In cash games, I can't find a reason to get cute. Lance McCullers This is McCullers first game off of the DL and 99% of the time, I would steer clear completely. This slate is just very weird. Both sites also have him priced down where you don't really need the typical Lance McCullers production. He's still a top 10-15 pitcher in baseball and threw 60 pitches in a simulated game a week ago. I expect around 80-90 and while that's typically a huge red flag, I think I'll take 90 Lance McCullers pitches against the Mariners than take a shot on any of these more expensive, riskier options. With that being said, McCullers is obviously far better in cash games where upside isn't as important. The Mariners aren't a bad offense by any means, but Safeco Field is one of the biggest parks in baseball and they have struggled there with a .299 wOBA. McCullers isn't in a perfect spot here, but nobody else is. Go ahead and take a shot and hope that he's fully healthy...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Main Carlos Martinez FD 9900 DK 11800  Opponent - SD (Perdomo) Park - @SD FD - 35.11 DK - 23.2 Ugly is the only word to describe pitching today. The same can be said for both slates, but at least we have a few decent options in the afternoon. Carlos Martinez will open it up here against the Padres in Petco Park. As we know by now, the Padres are absolutely abysmal at home. They held a .303 wOBA since the break and are the exact definition of a lifeless offense. Carlos Martinez is a guy who many thought would take a step up this year and become one of the best pitchers in the league, but he didn't. Instead, he's been basically the same pitcher he was last year, obliterating righties and slightly struggling against righties. He is a very strong number 2 and he has the upside for a CGSO any start. There aren't many ways to go at pitcher here and Martinez is definitely on the safer side. His price is fine and he shouldn't be more than 25% owned. Jake Arrieta FD 9900 DK 11100 Opponent - PIT (Kuhl) Park - @PIT FD - 28.89 DK - 19.4 If you think Jose Pirela is Babe Ruth or want to fade Carlos Martinez for whatever other reason, Jake Arrieta is a fantastic pivot and some may argue he's the better play. There's not much you can predict from narratives, but if you've watched the last couple starts from Arrieta, something has clicked. Over his last 4 starts, he's allowed 2 runs and struck out 24. His velocity is also back up 1.5 MPH, so maybe he was coasting through the early part of the season or had a nagging injury. The other possibility is his last 2 months have been fraudulent and he's just average. I'm not putting my money on that theory. The numbers are very skewed by his early struggles, but Arrieta has still posted a .286 wOBA and 8.56 K/9. Arrieta isn't the same Cy Young arm he once was, but he's a lot closer to it than some may think. The Pirates are far better against southpaws and Arrieta should have no problem throwing...
