Five (Over)Reactions to Week 1 and a Look Ahead to Week 2 9/9/18

Five (Over)Reactions to Week 1 and a Look Ahead to Week 2 9/9/18 What's the NFL without overreacting to 6% of the season sample size and making snap judgments about everything we *saw* in Week 1? The first Sunday football had a little of everything (including easy cash game victories for our users on both sites). So let's take a look at some overreactions to the week that was. And remember we'll have cash game plays, premium content and podcasts for Week 2 coming soon. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NFL optimizer for FanDuel and DraftKings, our MLB Optimizer, and our new Player Lab! We've got you completely covered. Andrew Luck isn’t the old Andrew Luck Look, on its face, Luck’s 39/53 for 319 yards and two touchdowns doesn’t look all that bad. From a fantasy perspective, he *got there* on his price even though the Colts lost the game with the Bengals putting up 24 second-half points in a dramatic comeback punctuated by a fumble return touchdown to seal it late. But here’s my concern with Luck: while he did put up yards and was accurate (completing 74% of his passes), he clearly didn’t want to/ couldn’t get the ball downfield. His longest completion was the over the top TD to Ebron (26 yards) and according to NFL’s Next Gen passing stats, Luck’s Average Intended Yards (the average Air Yards a passer throws on all attempts) was the second-lowest of all quarterbacks in Week 1 (Alex Smith was the lowest, because of course). I wouldn’t overreact to this stat after one week except Luck is coming off of a missed season because of an injury to his throwing shoulder and some early reports were that he didn’t have his fastball. Was this the reason he wasn’t taking downfield shots or was it just the general Cincy coverage? It’s going to take some time to flush it out but he had optimal conditions in Week 1 (at home in the dome) and in Week 2 will go on the road to face the Redskins who just held Sam Bradford (not a world beater of course) to 20/34 and 153 yards. Patrick Mahomes/ Tyreek Hill were awesome, but let’s pump the breaks just a little It was a quality season-opener for the newly-minted KC quarterback, with Mahomes securing a win on the road against a good Charger’s team. This is just the kind of win...

Three GPP Running Backs for NFL Week 1 FanDuel and DraftKings We took a look at the major cash game considerations at running back for Week 1 in our Value Plays article for FanDuel and DraftKings. Here, we'll take a look at some possibly lower-owned running back options with big upside. Want to see the rest of this article? Go grab a free three day trial of DFSR Pro or DFSR Basic! James White FD 5500 DK 4000 Opponent HOU Proj Points FD - 9.15 DK - 11.35 The Pats enter Week 1 with a lot of question marks. Julian Edelman is out for the first four weeks on suspension. 2017 team-target leader Brandin Cooks is gone. The running back situation is looking murky at best with Sony Michel “behind schedule” in terms of practicing and Rex Burkhead possibly not 100%. Plus, the Pats overhauled a majority of their receiving corps bringing in Cordarelle Patterson and basically promoting Phillip Dorsett from within. From a *sure thing* perspective, the Pats are basically working with Chris Hogan and Rob Gronkowski. (The former looking more and more like a cash play for Week 1.) All of these question marks could lead to a much more prominent role for White, who was fourth overall in Pats’ targets last season (72 in 14 games) and in 2016 had the second-most on the team. White wasn’t asked to do much on the ground later in the season because Dion Lewis established himself as close to an “every down back” as you’ll see from the Pats, but he’s gone as well. In what projects to be a very high-scoring game against the Texans (51.5 o/u - the highest of the day) is it unreasonable to assume White sees 10-15 looks (carries + targets) with the number trending to the higher end if the Pats are playing any kind of catchup? The Patriots were rarely tasked with coming from behind last year, but in the two games they did have to (KC Week 1, Carolina Week 4), White combined for 11 carries and 17 targets. He makes for a very attractive correlation play with the Texans (Deshaun Watson, Lamar Miller and DeAndre Hopkins) if the Texans can get out to a lead or the game turns into a shootout. Kenyan Drake FD 6600 DK 5900 Opponent TEN Proj Points FD - 11.73 DK - 13.01 When Damien Williams went down to injury in Week 12, Kenyan Drake instantly burst on the scene, averaging 24 carries and four receptions in back-to-back wins...

Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 1 – 9/9/18

Posted by on Sep 6, 2018 in featured, News, Premium, Weekly Fantasy Football Picks | 0 comments

Daily Fantasy Football Top Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings Week 1 - 9/9/18 Welcome back football fans. After a long offseason and even longer preseason, week one of the NFL regular season has finally arrived. I will be breaking down some of my top stacks for GPP formats and that doesn't mean just quarterback and receiver combos but also some other off the board correlation plays that can help you cash big. Let's get started. Want to see the rest of this article? Go grab a free three day trial of DFSR Pro or DFSR Basic! Your subscription will include access to premium content, our lineup optimizer, our members only chatroom, and more! START YOUR FREE TRIAL - AND READ THE REST! New Orleans Saints Quarterback - Drew Brees Primary Target - Micheal Thomas Secondary Target - Alvin Kamara Using the DFSR Player Lab, I used three filters for my first query this week looking at games with high totals, quarterbacks projected for 35 or more pass attempts, and teams facing weak passing defenses. Drew Brees was the only QB that popped in that model which is why the Saints sit as my #1 stacking option this week. It is no secret that Saints are going to be high owned and it makes sense as they face a Bucs team that is coming off a season where they allowed a league-high 261 passing yards per game and ranked dead last in DVOA passing defense. This game has the second-highest total(50) on the board and if the Saints score like we all expect them to, most of the production should fall on the pass game. It starts with Drew Brees who did see his pass attempts(536) go down last season but still led the league in yards per attempt(8.09) and was fifth in passing yards(4,334). His top receiver was Michael Thomas who was incredibly consistent finishing sixth in targets per game(9.3) and third in receptions(104) for a 69% catch rate while racking up 1,245 yards. With the Saints early-down running back suspended, Alvin Kamara takes over the bell cow duties and he is also an incredible pass catcher who finished third among backs with 6.3 targets per game with an 81% catch rate and led all backs with 826 receiving yards. While I will have Brees pair with one of the two in a ton of lineups, I will also have some stacks with all three together this week as the ceiling is very high, especially if the Bucs can score some points and keep it relatively close. Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback - Andy Dalton Primary Target - AJ Green Secondary Targets - John Ross Next, I wanted to look at the wide receiver position on the...
