FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks – Saturday, 8/29/20
FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Saturday, 8/29/20 On Saturday the NBA will finally play the games that NBA players sat out on Wednesday, so we are going to run Doug's article from Wednesday since all the plays are exactly the same. As a quick editorial note from the staff and owners here at DFSR: we stand by the NBA players and support their right to work (or not) as they see fit. As fans, we're hoping for basketball. As people, we acknowledge that there's nothing more American than peaceful protest. We've got you completely covered. Magic (14) vs. Bucks (-14) The Magic were able to hold it moderately close in game four until the Bucks pulled away late. That left regular rotation starter minutes for the key DFS plays in this game, something we really need to consider going into Wednesday’s slate. As I said in the last picks, if Giannis Antetokounmpo (FD $11300 DK $11300) is going to play 33-34 minutes then you just need to play him at these prices. He’s averaging a cool 31 points, 17 rebounds and seven assists through the first four on 33 minutes per game. No game has really gotten out of hand, a credit to the Magic, and at this point we probably just need to roll him in cash games. It’s just such a tough fade considering the Lakers/Blazers game could get out of hand in its own right. The rest of the Bucks? Man I don’t know. Khris Middleton (FD $6600 DK $7800) was pretty chalky last game and it was looking grim until he turned things around later in the game. He still got up 19 shots, but the price continues to be a little steep for a guy who can definitely disappear for stretches in the Bucks’ system. On the Magic side, Nikola Vucevic (FD $8600 DK $9200) went off in game four when Clifford ran him max minutes (38) and he piled in 31 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. One would have to imagine, short of an all-out blowout he would see similar run in this game as well. Evan Fournier (FD $5300 DK $5400) is a guy our system has wanted to kind of play throughout this series,...

FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Tuesday, 8/25/20 With some series coming to a quick end, Tuesday is just a two-gamer. But that just means we can salivate even more over the Dallas-Clippers' series. Let's break down a fun two-game slate for DraftKings and FanDuel. After a late Kristaps Porzingis scratch and the series maybe hanging in the balance, Luka Doncic (FD $11000 DK $11000), a gimpy ankle, put up a performance for the ages, with 43 points, 17 rebounds and 13 assists capped off by a buzzer-beater three in OT to win it. It was spectacular. Our projection system ultimately landed on Doncic for cash games and we rode it at very low ownership. It paid off. After Sunday’s game, I doubt folks put on the fade again. He could now be the highest-owned player on this two-game slate and that would be correct. He’s averaging a triple-double through the first three four games with a 30/10/10 line. That’s incredible considering the defenders he’s facing. All Luka again on this slate. Trey Burke (FD $4400 DK $4500) got the start for Porzingis and crushed value in his 37 minutes (including OT) with 25 points, five rebounds and two steals. If he got the nod again, Burke would be a near-must value for the slate which could end up very much with a stars and scrubs approach. Even at only 16 minutes, Boban Marjanovic (FD $4200 DK $3800) is still a DraftKings consideration seeing as how he doesn’t need much court time to hit value at that price. On the other side of the ball, stacking Doncic with Kawhi Leonard (FD $10400 DK $10000) is the high-floor move for this slate. Seeing as how Paul George is struggling so much, Kawhi led the team in shots again with 22 (including 10 trips to the line) and poured in 32 points, nine rebounds and four assists. He hit 42 minutes in regulation and you have to assume the Clippers will go the full load again not wanting to face an elimination game in game six. Speaking of Paul George (FD $7500 DK $8200), the price is way down on...

Bucks (-13.5) vs. Magic (+13.5) After losing in game one, the Bucks have imposed their will over the Magic with decisive wins in game two and game three. I’m still worried about blowout minutes on both sides of this game which does make it riskier in cash. Giannis Antetokounmpo (FD $11500 DK $11100) still has such a high floor because he does just about everything for this team. He’s averaging 31 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists per game in this series, playing no more than 34 in any of them. I’d still be comfortable running him out in cash all things considered. But the rest of this team is probably priced out considering some of the middle tier options we have elsewhere in other games. Bledsoe doesn’t play enough minutes, while Middleton and Lopez are just too expensive at this point considering how many of the team’s fantasy points Giannis gobbles up. Meanwhile, the Magic remain unexciting considering the defense they are facing in this series. If Aaron Gordon remains out, Gary Clark (FD $4400 DK $4100) is probably still a cash game consideration on the price alone. He played 35 minutes on Saturday with six points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. This is a dude who needs every minute to get there fantasy-wise. After that, things are looking pretty grim. It’s still tough to trust the D.J. Augustin production off the bench and now that Milwaukee is totally dialed in on defense the Magic have very little hope of putting up robust fantasy lines. I’m mostly avoiding this game. Rockets (-3) vs. Thunder (+3) The Thunder pulled out a crazy OT win against Houston on Saturday, grabbing some late scores and then completely taking over the extra five minutes. Going into Monday, there’s a lot to like about some of these OKC guys. First off, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (FD $7000 DK $7400) played 43 minutes in regulation (48 total) and took the third-most shots on the team with 18. You have to love the run for SGA and if he’s a candidate for 40+ with the Thunder shortening their rotations, then he’s definitely a cash play on this...

Raptors (-13) vs. Nets (+13) The theme of the day is going to be changing spreads, which starts with Vegas giving the Nets 2.5 more points than they did going into game three. It's hard to blame the oddsmakers, though. The Raptors absolutely stomped the Nets in game three, and it looks like one of the feel-good stories of the bubble is about to come to an end. The Nets really have fought valiantly with what we were calling the "G-League Nets" throughout the bubble, but going up against the defending champs playing at max motivation has proven too much so far. But can we get some DFS value here anyway? We'll start with the world champion Raptors, who have made this look awfully easy. Throughout the series the Raps have basically stuck with their normal rotations in spite of point spreads, but they finally yielded to their back-ups when the yield was firmly cemented in the 20s in game three. Cash game stalwarts like OG Anunoby (FD $4700 DK $4500), Fred Vanvleet (FD $7800 DK $7700), and Kyle Lowry (FD $8200 DK $8100) are still playable in what remains a great match-up, but only Lowry paid value before the starters were pulled in game three. If you think the Raptors keep the pedal down to end this series you might sneak a few more minutes out of them here, but the blowout risk at least has to be considered. On the Nets side of the ball, I think you can get a lot more safety. We saw the starters play their full run of minutes in game three, and with plenty of time to rest if they get eliminated I believe Jacque Vaughn will see this game as the final item on his resume to get the Nets' head coaching job for next season. I'd be comfortable playing Caris Levert (FD $8200 DK $8200) in cash games if need be, and love him as a part of a two man game script stack with VanVleet at a position where they aren't likely to be the chalk plays. Elsewhere I'm happy to mix and match Nets where I need to fill...

FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Friday, Saturday, 8/22/20 With the playoffs starting to get a bit repetetive with how plays break down, we are going to start going game-by-game with values and considerations. We've got you completely covered. Bucks (-12) vs. Magic (+12) Well, somebody woke up the Bucks. After the Magic stole game one it tentatively looked like this could be a series where we could glean some reliable DFS value, but game two quickly dispelled me of that illusion. There is still some value from this series, but it's going to be a risky one to target. Nikola Vucevic (FD $8500 DK $9100) still managed to scrape some value together in spite of the Magic getting blown out, and it looks like he could still be playable in spite of this series leaning in a one sided direction. He's the only realistic offensive option for the Magic, and as good as the Bucks are defensively they haven't had an answer for him yet. He's still cheap on FanDuel, and still a cash game option. Outside of Vuc? Eek. Evan Fournier (FD $5300 DK $5200) is the only guy that I can imagine running in cash games. He played 35 minutes in a one sided game, and his 13 shots were second among starters. I don't give credit to Terrence Ross, who got most of his attempts up in the Magic's desperate comeback attempt. Fournier still paid 5x points per dollar on his relatively cheap prices, though, and on smaller slates you can't rule him out. As we swing over to the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo (FD $11300 DK $11000) chased himself off the court by going into superhero mode in game two, and if he can get the extra 4 minutes he should in close games these prices are a joke. Our system is also intrigued by Brook Lopez (FD $5700 DK $5300) in particular, who the Bucks are priced into keeping on the court as the only guy who can sort of defend Vucevic. He played 33 minutes in game two, and supplied 20 points from the field. Our system frankly thinks any of the Bucks' non-Wesley Matthews starters are in play here, and even gives a nod to George Hill...
