I don't think I've gone through our projection system so quickly and found the guys who I wanted instantly. It feels like we have a ton of great hitters in some fantastic spots and it stuck out like a sore thumb. A lot of those guys are reasonably priced, too, and it makes for an incredible slate. The only real question mark is the pitcher position, but we feel like we have two strong guys to lean on. With that in mind, let's start there! Pitchers Zack Wheeler FD - P 10700 DK - SP 10400 Opponent - BAL (Keegan Akin) Park - PHI FD - 51.36 DK - 28.36 Zack Attack is the highest-priced player on the slate, and rightfully so. We're talking about a dude with a 2.83 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 31 percent K rate. That has turned him into one of the best pitchers in baseball, averaging 23.5 DraftKings points per game. The reason we expect that average to be his floor here is this matchup. Baltimore currently ranks 25th in OBP, 22nd in wOBA, and 26th in runs scored. They literally have 48 wins! How is that even possible? All of that tells us that Wheeler likely has a win headed his way, too, entering this tasty matchup as a -300 favorite. Cole Irvin FD - P 8200 DK - SP 5800 Opponent - SEA (Chris Flexen) Park - OAK FD - 31.37 DK - 15.93 What is going on with this DraftKings pricing? Most players sitting below $6K are minor leaguers or relievers on limited pitch counts, but Irvin is far from both of those. Irvin has thrown at least five innings in 23 of his 29 starts, generating a 2.99 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in those outings. That'd be a fantastic game from a sub-$6K player, and we certainly think he can have another one of those against the Mariners. Seattle sits 27th in OPS, OBP, and wOBA, with Irvin entering this matchup as a -140 favorite. Just use him as your SP2 in every lineup you make on DraftKings for your late-night hammer! Joe Ryan was nearly perfect in his last outing and could continue that success against a calamity like the Cubs. Catcher/First Base Paul Goldschmidt FD - 1B 4200 DK - 1B 4600 Opponent - MIL (Brett Anderson) Park - MIL FD - 11.28 DK - 8.48 The Cardinals have...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Tuesday 9/21/21 – Main Slate

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Brandon Woodruff FD 10200 DK 10400 Opponent - STL (Jake Woodford) Park - STLFD - 39.82 DK - 22.83 Woodruff is in a good spot here on Tuesday against the Cardinals, coming in as a -225 home favorite. The Brewers have a playoff spot locked up, but that didn’t stop them from throwing Freddy Peralta 96 pitches on Monday, meaning they aren’t exactly treating the starting pitchers with kid gloves heading into the post-season. That’s a good sign in considering a pitcher for cash. Woodruff has had a masterful season, striking out batters at a 10.5 K/9 clip and rocking a 2.55 ERA (3.05 xFIP). He’s been able to average more than six innings per start on the season and has a high floor in this matchup. He is likely to be the chalkier play on the slate. Jordan Montgomery FD 8800 DK 8300 Opponent - TEX (Dane Dunning) Park - TEXFD - 35.66 DK - 18.87 The Yankees are in the final week of the season battling for a Wildcard spot in the American League. It’s going to come down to the wire with them, the other teams in the AL East and maybe even some AL West teams as well. Montgomery faces the lowly Rangers in this one as a -262 home favorite, currently the best win odds on the slate. He’s had a solid season with a 3.91 xFIP and a strikeout rate more than a batter per inning. You’d like to see the 2.94 BB/9 rate come down a bit, but beggars can’t be choosers here. Considering the opponent and the odds, he makes for a very good SP2 on DraftKings where he is reasonably priced. Catcher/First Base Max Muncy FD 4100 DK 5800 Opponent - COL (Antonio Senzatela) Park - COLFD - 16.28 DK - 11.99 Look, we are going to be working overtime to get Dodgers’ bats into our lineups on Tuesday, with them making their way into Coors Field for a series. They start things off facing Antonio Senzatela, who is among the weaker arms in the league. And Los Angeles has, by far, the highest implied run like at 6.6. It is going to cost of course, but we will try to find cheaper options in some other spots when it is all said and done. Muncy has had another excellent season with a .909 OPS and is closing...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Robbie Ray FD - P 11000 DK - SP 10200 Opponent - TB (Shane Baz) Park - TB FD - 35.29 DK - 18.54 With Gerrit Cole getting peppered on Sunday, this is a huge opportunity for Ray to get a stranglehold on the American League CY Young. He is the most expensive pitcher on this slate but has, by far, the biggest leash of the top pitchers. He has been dominant all season and especially against Tampa Bay giving up just seven earned runs in five starts vs. the rays with a 46:3 K to walk ratio. The Rays also strike out the third-most(25.5%) against southpaws this season. Fire up Ray in all formats. Ranger Suárez FD - P 9000 DK - SP 6500 Opponent - BAL (John Means) Park - PHI FD - 28.84 DK - 15.18 In terms of an SP2 on DraftKings, I am very puzzled by the price on Suarez considering how good he has been since joining the rotation. His first few starts were fairly limited as they stretched him out but over his last five starts, he has held opponents to just five total earned runs while topping 19 DK/34 FD points in each of those starts. He now faces a struggling O's team that has dropped eight of their last nine and struck out 32% of the time over the last seven days and 25% over the last 14. Suarez is easily my top SP2 option tonight alongside Ray. Catcher/First Base Yuli Gurriel FD 3000 DK 4100 Opponent - LAA (Jaime Barria) Park - LAA FD - 13.91 DK - 10.67 After a day off on Sunday, Gurriel should be back in the lineup tonight and continues to come at a tremendous PTS/$ value on both sites. We have talked about it all season and nothing changes down the stretch as he enters with multi-hit efforts in five of his last seven games pushing his average up to .314 for the season. His power upside comes against lefties but he has still been solid against righties with a .349 wOBA and 126 wRC+. At these prices, he is my top play at first base and easily stackable with multiple teammates. J.T. Realmuto FD 3300 DK 4400 Opponent - BAL (John Means) Park - BAL FD - 12.2 DK - 9.23 The Phillies are thick in the playoff race down the stretch and...

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! If you love strange slates, this one's for you! This marks the two-week line until the final day of the season, and it feels like we just started playing a month ago. That's what can be genuinely bizarre about baseball because it felt like we were four months in come May. We're motivated to have some big nights before the regular season commences, and we truly feel like our projection system is speaking on this slate. It likes two of the stud pitchers to build around, so let's kick things off there! Pitchers Gerrit Cole FD - P 11500 DK - SP 10900 Opponent - CLE (Eli Morgan) Park - NYY FD - 49.77 DK - 28.26 Anytime the AL Cy Young favorite is taking the mound, he needs to be taken into consideration for DFS. What makes him an enticing option here is the matchup with Cleveland, with the Indians ranked 27th in OBP, 23rd in wOBA, and 24th in OPS. All of that doesn't matter when it comes to a pitcher like this, with Cole leading every player with 25.4 DK points per game. No other starter is even above 20, and it's a good indicator of how far above the field this guy is right now. Vegas loves him too, with the Yanks entering this matchup as a -300 favorite and Cleveland projected for about 3.5 runs. Sandy Alcantara FD - P 10800 DK - SP 10200 Opponent - PIT (Undecided) Park - MIA FD - 35.62 DK - 19.04 It's crazy that Alcantara is not the second-highest pitcher on both of these sites. To put it simply, he's been one of the best pitchers in the NL for nearly two months. Sandy surrendered 10 runs in Coors Field on August 6 but has a 1.55 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and 11.0 K/9 rate since then. We can omit that Coors Field game because of all the nightmares it gives opposing pitchers, and it's far from the tasty spot he has here. Not only is Miami one of the most pitcher-friendly ballparks around, but Pittsburgh also ranks 28th in xwOBA, 29th in wOBA, and dead-last in runs scored. Catcher/First Base José Abreu FD - 1B 4000 DK - 1B 4700 Opponent - TEX (Jordan Lyles) Park - TEX FD - 13.53 DK - 10.23 I don't understand this pricing on DraftKings. Abreu received an AL MVP last season for his heroics and...

Pitchers Early Max Scherzer FD 11300 DK 10700 Opponent - CIN (Sonny Gray) Park - CINFD - 39.92 DK - 22.56 Scherzer is the most expensive arm on the early slate and for good reason. He’s hands down the best pitcher going here early and it isn’t particularly close. He gets a tough matchup with the Reds for sure, and you hate that he’s going in Great American Ballpark which plays as well for hitters as any place in the majors not named Coors. Scherzer is having another lights-out season with a 12.17 K/9 rate and a 3.12 xFIP that is about a run higher than his 2.17 ERA. He’s a moderate -184 favorite against Cincy here, but on the early slate, I think he will be a tough fade. For a DraftKings SP2, I like Nick Pivetta (FD $7700 DK $8100) and Ryan Yarbrough (FD $6000 DK $5700). The latter is coming very cheap and allows you to stack some of the bigger bats. Evening Corbin Burnes FD 11200 DK 10500 Opponent - CHC (Justin Steele) Park - CHCFD - 49.09 DK - 28.25 Oh boy, is this one ever easy. Burnes is in the driver’s seat for the NL Cy Young Award this season thanks to just some filthy numbers. He has a 35% K rate on the season, sick peripherals with a 7.2:1 K:BB ratio, and a 2.30 xFIP. He faces the rebuilding Cubs as a -291 home favorite, easily the highest of the slate. This is a slam dunk for cash games and he will likely be the chalk play. It’s worth paying all the way up for Burnes here even with some other strong arms on the slate. Lance Lynn (FD $10300 DK $8700) is just cheap enough on DraftKings to pair with Burnes here. He’s facing the Rangers on the road as a heavy favorite. Catcher/First Base Early Bobby Dalbec FD 3400 DK 3200 Opponent - BAL (Zac Lowther) Park - BALFD - 13.42 DK - 10.03 Dalbec should hit around the 6th or 7th spot for the Red Sox on Saturday and was a chalkier play on Friday in a similar situation. He’s significantly better against lefties for his career with an .868 OPS and .362 wOBA in that split. The Red Sox mostly use him in a platoon when they are facing lefties, one of the reasons his...
