The Pirates are way better against left handers, and they've managed just a .282 wOBA against righties while also walking the fewest times of any team in the league. AJ Burnett isn't a a bad pitcher (and probably makes a fine play for GPPs), but St. Louis' bats have been so much better than Pittsburgh's that I like them to give the Cards the edge in helping Lynn get a win. Max Scherzer - FD 10500 DK 12000 DFSTR 11100 Matt Harvey - FD 10300 DK 11200 DFSTR 8800 It's pretty brutal that the two best pitching plays of the day (by far) are facing one another. There's probably some argument to just split your double ups and 50/50s with these guys and be done with it. The Mets and Nats are 22nd and 23rd in the league in wOBA vs. right handed pitchers, which makes each a plus match-up for a hard throwing righty. Both Scherzer and Harvey are positively transcendent. The problem here is that only one of them can win, and there's some chance that neither of them will win. Still, though - either would be the play of the day if the other wasn't pitching, so it felt like I should include them here. Ian Kennedy - FD 7300 DK 8200 DFSTR 6900 Well, Kennedy's first start was about as bad as it gets. And he's facing the Rockies? What's he doing here!? Well, a couple of things. First, he was kind of underratedly great last season - striking out 207 guys against 70 walks in 203 innings pitched. Next, San Diego is the best place to pitch in the majors. I'm not saying this is a cash game play, but the Rockies actually have the second fewest walks against righties this season, and their free-swinging ways might not translate to the large confines of Petco. Also considered: AJ Burnett, for GPPs. K per inning guy for a bargain.   Catcher Salvador Perez - FD 2700 DK 3600 DFSTR 5400 Perez's price still isn't where it should be, as he's a sub $3,000 player on FanDuel in spite of showing plus power and average for the position. He's .45 wOBA points better against left handed...

And a fine call that is, to get. The Reds have the 6th lowest wOBA in the majors against right handed pitching, which is not very good. Arrieta gets little credit for being ace caliber, but we're looking at 28 starts in the majors in the last two years with a 2.73 xFIP, which is awfully good. It's not totally clear as of this writing if DeSclafani or Marquis will get the start, but either way Arrieta should be a significant favorite to pull a win in a very nice match-up. Lance Lynn - FD 8400 DK 8800 DFSTR 8100 It's a gruesome day for pitching, my friends. To that end, Lance Lynn stands out from both a safety perspective. He's better than a K an inning so far this season, had a solid outing against the Brewers the first time they met, and Mike Fiers has struggled to keep opposing hitters in the park this season. In a slate that's devoid of any real ace, Lynn's the best we can grab after Arrieta. Brandon Morrow - FD 6200 DK 6800 If Lynn's the standard for safety for tomorrow, I'll submit Morrow as his upside based counterpart. The overall line isn't going to blow you away, but this early int he season, pitcher lines demanding additional parsing. Morrow was fantastic against the Giants, good against Arizona, and then pretty bad against Colorado in Coors. All told - that's a great start to the season. The Dodgers have been fantastic in their own right, but this is a great park to pitch in, and a nice price to boot. The real deal sweetener is the opposing pitcher. Scott Baker was decent in the minors this year, but last pitched effectively in 2011. Nice spot for a win, and potential other goodies as well. Catcher Buster Posey - FD 3800 DK 4800 DFSTR 7200 SpTradeX B These are the DFS moments that you wait for. Posey's price is depressed by some bad BABIP luck to start the season, and his peripheral stats (more walks than Ks, for instance) suggest that these trends won't last. Furthermore, he'll get literally his perfect match-up. Posey has put up a ridiculous .961 OPS against left handed pitching over the course of his career spanning...

In this contest he gets the double dip of facing a bad offense and a bad pitcher, and I think this will be his much awaited turnaround. The Phillies were the 4th worst team in the majors against right handed pitching last season (a meager .294 wOBA) and are a year older with no fresh faces to make things better. It's odd to say of a guy who's kinda sucked so far this year, but Stras looks among the safest plays available today. Adam Wainwright - FD 9400 DK 9500 DFSTR 3100 Wainwright has flashed his characteristic fantastic command of the zone this year in a small sample size - putting up 10 Ks against just the 1 BB. And for their supposedly great left handed bats, the Reds were just behind the Phillies when it came to producing against right handed pitching last season. If you're spooked by Stras' first two starts, I could totally see a case for putting Wainwright in the #1 overall slot, but I gave the nod to Strasburg because while Wainwright's opposing pitcher (Mike Leake) is real bad, Dave Buchanan is a transcendent fantasy match-up. Also considered: Matt Harvey. He's been the best of these three this season, but I'll take the other two on the basis of match-up. Random upside play: Brandon McCarthy. It'd be easy to miss what he's done from a peripheral standpoint this season because the ERA is a mess, but homey has 19 Ks against 1 BB in just 12 innings. Now, the Rockies are a damned bad match-up, but LA was the 5th hardest place to hit in the league last year (compared to Coors, which was the easiest). Some chance for a big game here, and I doubt many will play him.   Catcher Brian McCann - FD 3100 DK 3800 DFSTR 5900 McCann has been roughly .25 wOBA points better against right handed pitching over the course of his career, and Matt Andriese posted a 4.24 FIP in the minors last season. I'm sure he's a better pitcher than, say, I am, but our projection system isn't sure he'll be able to hold up against the lefty-heavy Yankee lineup. Could be a...

Madison Bumgarner - FD 10500 DK 10500 DFSTR 3100 Bumgarner got hit around a little bit in his first start, but it looks like noise to me. The 7 Ks to 1 BB were solid, and these things happen some time. We all know the story from last season for the Giants' ace: the 219 Ks against 43 BB speak for themselves. What you really have to like about Bumgarner today (especially for cash games) are the match-up and the park. The Giants' home park depresses power hitting quite a bit, and the Diamondbacks managed just a .299 wOBA against left handed pitching last year. He's the only clear ace going today, and investing this much salary on a high multiplier in a game where the Giants should be favored is looking pretty good, to me. Archie Bradley - FD 7400 DK 6400 DFSTR 3000 If you're looking to just go off board for an interesting punt play, Archie Bradley is somewhat fascinating. He's clearly a dog to register the win here, but the park is great, the Giants aren't exactly teeming with pop, and he posted some pretty nice K rates in the minors. There's absolutely a scenario in which he posts the highest points per dollar performance of any pitcher on the board. Big Gap Also considered: It's tough to give you any other pitcher in good faith, today. Our projection system thinks Dillon Gee is an interesting play in a good park against a team that strikes out against righties a ton, but I would have a heck of a hard time pullingt he trigger there. It also like Cole Hamels, but he looks like a poor man's version of Bumgarner to me, so I'm not sure why you'd do that.   Catcher Wilson Ramos - FD 3000 DK 3400 DFSTR 6000 Our top catcher selection from yesterday stuffed the stat sheet against Boston, going 2/5 with 2 runs and 3 RBI, and generally sent ripples of delight throughout the industry. Tonight's match-up is decidedly less rosy, as Cole Hamels is no slouch. But Ramos is simply good against left handed pitching - posting a .355 wOBA against southpaws last season.
