Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 1/16/17 Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! We can celebrate one of the great civil rights heroes of all time by playing one of the best games of all time - daily fantasy basketball! Today features absurdly constructed and seemingly random DraftKings slates, and a couple of slates on FanDuel. I won't be giving you plays to fill out your rosters for all slates - you'll need to grab a free three day trial of the lineup optimizer to do that - but here are a couple of guys I'm looking to build around today. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NBA optimizer, our NFL Optimizer, and our new NFL player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. Point Guard   Elfrid Payton FD - $6000 DK - $6200Opponent - DENProj Pts FD - 32.27 DK - 34.14 With Fournier already ruled out for Monday, leaving the Elf on the shelf is looking like a worse and worse idea. What's that? You bet your sweet ass I opened this article with a terrible pun. The Magic have seemingly out of nowhere committed to more solid rotations, which leads to a weird daily fantasy situation where you can consider a lot of their guys almost regardless of match-up. Payton has played 35 and 39 minutes in his last two games, and averaged 45 fantasy points in that short stretch. It's a small sample size of course, but given that he put up his best game of the season in the worst possible match-up in Utah has to be very reassuring. He's got no such match-up issues with the Nuggets today - they've allowed the 2nd most fantasy points to opposing point guards this season. He looks like a terrific play in all formats until the Magic lose their minds again. Kemba Walker FD - $7900 DK - $7900Opponent - BOSProj Pts FD - 41.34 DK - 43.98 A couple of uninspiring performances recently have caused Walker's price to drift downward, but this just looks like a buying opportunity to me. He'd been steadily paying 5x points per dollar on these prices, and the dip in performance can be attributed to A) a game against the Spurs and B) a 7/23 shooting performance against the 76ers. Well, tonight he's not playing the Spurs, and it seems a little shortsighted to think he'll keep shooting at less than 30% from the field....

Point Guard   Early Malcolm Brogdon FD - $5400 DK - $5700 Opponent - ATL Proj Pts FD - 25.2 DK - 26.76 Malcolm Brogdon got his first real opportunity when Matthew Dellavedova went down 2 weeks ago, and he has fully taken advantage of it. Over his last 8 games, he has been over 30 fantasy points in 6 of them. He hasn't had great match ups either, scoring over 30 against both the Spurs and Heat. The Hawks are a phenomenal match up, giving up the 4th most fantasy points to point guards. Brogdon hasn't seen a huge price increase, still sitting below $6k on both big sites. The PG spot is pretty ugly on this early slate, so Brogdon is basically a must play for me. His floor is sitting around 25 for me, and his ceiling has to be around 45. This game projects to be competitive and somewhat high scoring. Make sure you got some Malcolm Brogdon exposure in both cash games and tournaments. Main Mike Conley FD - $7600 DK - $7200 Opponent - CHI Proj Pts FD - 38.48 DK - 40.72 Point guard is pretty ugly on both slates today, and you have to take who you can. Conley has been phenomenal lately, hitting over 34 in 6 of his last 7 games. He has been over 42 in two of them, so the upside is definitely there. He will see Both Carter-Williams and Rondo, and neither of which are great defenders. We will touch on Westbrook in a minute, but his price is just insane. Harden has a much better match up, so I would rather go there, and you really can't fit both of them while having a +EV lineup. Conley can be played in both cash games and tournaments. The Bulls have given up 45.5 fantasy points per game to point guards, which ranks as the 8th worst in the NBA. I don't see too many ways around rostering Mike Conley here.   Patrick Beverley When Beverley is coming in as the number 2 PG on the slate, you know the pickings are slim. With that being said, he is playing the Nets. They are by far the worst defense in the league, and they play...

Daily Fantasy NBA News and Injury Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 1/13/16 Welcome to the daily updates and injury news article. We'll try and update it right up to line-up locks with as much information as comes across our desks. Let's get to it! Last night's picks can be found here, so you can wrap your mind around what you need to be looking at before lineups lock tonight. By the way - we keep our projection system updated with all of the changes as they occur throughout the day right up until lineup lock. Every day. If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below! START YOUR FREE TRIAL! What We Know Avery Bradley has been ruled out against the Hawks Bradley won't return for at least another game here, so we can still look at a couple of these guys. Marcus Smart will get the start, and he will definitely be in play. I like him in both cash games and tournaments. Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder will also pick up some usage, and both are good options against the Hawks. I think Tim Hardaway Jr. also gets a bump, as he won't be forced to see Avery Bradley standing in front of him. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been ruled out tonight This puts Stanley Johnson firmly in play. He came in and played 38 minutes last night, and I would expect similar minutes tonight. The Jazz are one of the slower teams in the league, but Johnson is so cheap and doesn't need to do much to even destroy value. Johnson does get himself involved on offense, and I see him as close to a must play tonight. Darrun Hilliard will also pick up some minutes, but not enough to get my interest. Nicolas Batum will return & Jeremy Lamb will sit out Batum will come back and Lamb will take his spot on the end of the bench. I assume Batum is close to 100%, so I don't mind him coming off of injury in a great match up. Marco Belinelli will also be the main SG off the bench, but is nothing too special tonight. What We're Waiting to Know Zach LaVine is a GTD against the Thunder LaVine missed last game, and it resulted in Shabbazz Muhammad getting some extra run. He definitely took advantage, finishing with 30 fantasy points. He may not have crazy upside, but the safety is there in a fast paced match up with the Thunder. They give up a ton of points on the perimeter, and Muhammad excels in fast paced games. He can be...

Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 1/13/17 Friday the 13th! Ooooh. Anyone feeling a little off today? Thinking there's something creeping around in the shadows or the air feels a little different? That's because it's a made up bad luck day that has no real bearing on anything in the real world. Unless of course these picks turn out bad. Then I'm blaming the day. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NBA optimizer, our NFL Optimizer, and our new NFL player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with NBA? Be sure to read our free NBA Ebook on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. Point Guards Isaiah Thomas FD - $9000 DK - $9000 Opponent - ATL Proj Pts FD - 47.74 DK - 50.75 Marcus Smart FD - $5600 DK - $6300 Opponent - ATL Proj Pts FD - 29.62 DK - 31.74 Avery Bradley’s already been ruled out for Friday leaving a lot of backcourt minutes again up for grabs. Smart and Thomas played 36 and 38 respectively last game with IT3 really lighting it up in the second half on his way to a show-stealing 38/6/5 line against the Wolves. He’s the primary usage uptick when Bradley’s off the court and dude didn’t disappoint, chucking up 29 shots. Both have seen moderate price hikes just in the last couple of days because of the opportunity with Bradley off the court, but I still think we are getting value on them figuring they play major minutes against the Hawks. Note that Atlanta’s slightly above average defending opposing backcourts this season so these guys aren’t getting a crazy great matchup. But the projects as close and the Celts should be able to score here. Smart is likely a chalkier play than Thomas simply because there’s other PG value in the latter’s tier. But folks might be turned off to Smart with him not hitting value against the Wiz as a chalk play on Wednesday. Kemba Walker FD - $8100 DK - $8300 Opponent - PHI Proj Pts FD - 41.03 DK - 43.45 Even with Nic Batum set to return tonight, it’s hard not to love Kemba in this spot. Walker’s shouldering much more of the offensive burden this season as evidenced by an uptick in his per minute shot attempts and a big spike in his three point shooting. He’s hitting 42% of shots from beyond the arc, up from a 35% career average. That’s a noticeable increase. And while it could be some run good over the short...

If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below! START YOUR FREE TRIAL! What We Know Jimmy Butler and Nikola Mirotic are out against the Knicks   Both Butler and Mirotic play big minutes, and Butler is obviously the main scorer on the offense. Dwyane Wade will step up as the main scorer, and the forwards will all play some extra minutes. The Knicks are a very average defensive team, so you can consider anyone in the starting lineup here. Keep an eye on the news for Rondo, as he could mess up the rotation a little bit. Jon Leuer will miss at least the next 3 games   Leuer usually starts at the PF spot for the Pistons, and he leaves behind about 30 minutes. Tobias Harris and Marcus Morris will gain the most, and both are viable plays right here. Drummond should also pick up some more boards, and he will have his minutes solidified. Andrew Bogut is out against the Suns   Bogut is a minutes guy, but has only played about 26 minutes per game. Dirk should see his 25 minutes, but Tyson Chandler is the guy who will benefit most. He will have an easy path to rebounds, and no big bodies to stop him. LaMarcus Aldridge is going to play against the Lakers   Aldridge missed last game, and his return clouds up the rotation. Leonard and Aldridge are both still good tournament plays. I will be off of both in cash, as I think the usage will be very spread out. This also hurts David Lee, who will lose the bulk of his minutes.   What We're Waiting to Know Anthony Davis is questionable to play If Davis plays, he is an every lineup guy. We will talk about him in a second. If he misses, Donatas Motiejunas and Terrence Jones will get huge bumps, as well as Jrue Holiday. You could also argue for the role players, but I will keep my exposure to the actual good players. The "Every...
