Atlanta Hawks at the Washington Wizards Total: 209 Favorite: Wizards (-5) Pace: Atlanta 10, Washington 11 Unsurprisingly, the 4/5 match-up in the East has the smallest spread of the day, with Vegas favoring the Wiz by just 5 points over the Hawks. Both of these teams play an above average pace, but the tight defense of Atlanta and some of the more electric teams going today has this as just the 3rd highest total on the day. That doesn't mean there isn't value to be had, but it might be had in more of the "off the beaten path" variety rather than finding a lot of chalk to hang your hat on. Let's start with the favorites. The Wizards' minutes were all over the place at the end of the season, particularly with the non-Beal, non-Wall starters. So what are we expecting for the playoffs? Well, it's sort of tough to say. I will say that teams in the playoffs tend not to split positions nearly equally among multiple players, much less 3 total positions. I have to believe that the Wiz were just trying to get guys like Oubre and Mahinmi a little more run at the end of the season in case they needed to be called on for the postseason, and that they'll stabilize into the higher minute rotations they showed earlier in the season. With Mahinmi out for at least the beginning of the postseason, it's hard to imagine Gortat in particular playing fewer than 34 minutes a game. This leaves the 'lesser Wizards' squarely in value-town if you believe in the minutes projection. If they play fewer than 30 minutes each like they have recently we'll be pretty disappointed, but it's probably a risk I'm willing to take on this slate. As for the Hawks, there should be a little bit more sanity. We don't have a great recent example of them playing at full strength, but one has to assume that we'll get a full dose of Millsap, Schroder, and Howard here. Millsap is looking like a very solid play considering the discount you're getting on his peak prices and a great match-up with the Wizards' frontcourt. The Wiz gave up the 6th most fantasy points per game to opposing...

Indiana Pacers at Cleveland Cavaliers Cleveland’s late season stumbling and bumbling is well documented as they were able to lose the first seed in the East and with it home court advantage to the Celtics. That’s not a concern here, but could be if both teams reach the Conference Finals. The Caves rested Lebron over the last two games after playing him arguably insane minutes during the course of the regular season. The big story for the Caves (for DFS purposes) is the big three of Lebron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Lebron stands to see the most minutes of any player on this slate and probably has the highest floor. Barring a blowout (which hasn’t come easy for the Caves this season) Lebron likely pushes up to 40 minutes and is able to contribute in all facets. Irving has been more of a tournament play on his prices this year though will draw well below average D in Jeff Teague throughout the series. Love also finds himself in a plus matchup considering Thad Young’s value add for the Pacers isn’t on the defensive end. On the Indy side of the ball, Paul George has played major minutes down the stretch run, logging close to 40 minutes on average over the short term. In their final regular season meeting, an OT game, George chucked up 33 shots and finished with an insane 43/9/9 line. That’s somewhat of an outlier, but it’s clear the Pacers will run him as much as needed in this series. Myles Turner is also in a good spot against a Cavs team who doesn’t defend the center position all that well. Jeff Teague gets Kyrie’s matador D, making him a value play as well. Milwaukee Bucks at Toronto Raptors The Raptors come in as -7 favorites for this first game and got Kyle Lowry back from injury just in time for a playoff push. The Raptors are basically driven by Kyle Lowry and Demar Derozan, with the latter coming as a very solid DFS value on FanDuel. While his usage isn’t quite as high with Lowry back in the mix for the Raptors, he should be able to exploit some of the Bucks wing defense. It’s safe to assume we see...
DFSR’s Daily Fantasy NBA Podcast for DraftKings and FanDuel Friday 4/14/17
DFSR's Daily Fantasy NBA Podcast for DraftKings and FanDuel Friday 4/14/17 The DFSR crew of James Davis and Doug Norrie take to a Friday NBA podcast to discuss Saturday’s first round playoff matchups. There’s a lot to unpack here with teams rounding out their rotations after a late season of uncertainty in the league. They go game-by-game starting with the Pacers and Cavs and whether Lebron James and Paul George are simply overpriced on this small slate of games. Then there’s talk about how the Bucks could use Giannis in this matchup against the Raptors and whether low 40’s minutes is out of the question. Finally, it’s a lot of talk about Kawhi Leonard and when we can throw matchups out the window in DFS. All of this and more on a packed Friday NBA playoff podcast. Subscribe to this podcast on...

What We Know Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Tony Snell will all sit against the Celtics Malcolm Brogdon and Greg Monroe are the only 2 guys with any talent left on this team so you have to like them. Michael beasley could also see a ton of run and he has unlimited upside. John Wall, Brad Beal, and Markieff Morris are all listed as out With Otto Porter back, you can expect him to shoot a ton. Brandon Jennings and Jason Smith could also see some minutes and shots. Jennings is my favorite of the two. Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony will sit against the 76'ers Maurice Ndour has been playing big minutes and he becomes an interesting play tonight. Guillermo Hernangomez is also pretty safe against a horrible 76'ers interior. Brook Lopez and Jeremy Lin will sit against the Bulls Lopez and Lin are the only 2 guys who have been shooting a lot lately, so it'll be interesting to see how this works out. Still, I don't love anyone. The Nets play a ton of guys and I think they just play everyone 22-24 minutes. Trevor Booker is an interesting GPP play. Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala will be rested against the Lakers The Warriors have nothing to play for, so I don't love anything here. With Durant back, the usage is a bit more spread out. Matt Barnes could see some minutes at 3/4 and be a good tournament play. Curry and Thompson always have the upside as well. Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins will both rest for the regular season finale Alexis Ajinca and Cheick Diallo are my 2 favorite options here down low. They should each see 25 minutes and hit value. Jordan Crawford and Jrue Holiday will both see an uptick in usage. Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, and Allen Crabbe are all out tonight Shabazz Napier will once again see big minutes and be a phenomenal play. Connaughton and...
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 4/12/17
Daily Fantasy NBA Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/12/17 Well, the regular season draws to a close tonight. What a long strange, minutes-laden trip it's been. If the average night in the NBA is a beautiful dance to determine who gets the most run and usage, tonight is the mosh pit that throws the whole thing into anarchy. Outside of just a few teams playing for something, we have a ton of uncertainty. It's going to get weird. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NBA optimizer, our MLB Optimizer, and our new MLB player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. Point Guards Goran Dragic FD - $7900 DK - $7200 Opponent - WAS Proj Pts FD - 35.56 DK - 38.44 There aren’t many teams with something to play for tonight, but the Heat are one of them. They need to win and the Bulls to lose to the sneak into the 8th seed in the playoffs. Considering (basically) all of the games kick off at 8PM you can assume Dragic sees his full compliment of minutes and the Heat really shortened up their rotations last game. Dragon played 40 minutes last game though he was a little underwhelming on the offensive end. Expect to see him with a ton of run tonight against a Wiz team with really nothing to play for. On this last night of the regular season we are only looking for players with minutes’ safety because of the win motivation. Dragic is in that category. Jerian Grant FD - $4300 DK - $5000 Opponent - BKN Proj Pts FD - 23.23 DK - 24.5 The Bulls are in the same boat, duking it out for the last seed in the East. Grant’s been playing minutes with Rondo out and the latter is doubtful for tonight’s game. Of course if Rondo were a full go then we could eliminate Grant (figuratively, not literally) but dude’s been money since entering the starting PG for the Bulls. He went 17/11 in only 28 minutes against the Magic on Monday night and has been a solid scorer and producer over the last three games. Keep an eye on Rondo news and use Grant liberally if he’s the starter tonight. T.J. McConnell FD - $5800 DK - $5800 Opponent - NY Proj Pts FD - 29.41 DK - 31.27 Sixers don’t have a thing to play for but that hasn’t effected McConnell’s minutes much in the short term....
