Pitchers Brandon Woodruff FD - P 11800 DK - SP 10400 Opponent - PIT (Chase De Jong) Park - MIL FD - 43 DK - 24.06 Don't get me wrong, fading deGrom in cash in a game with a silly 5.5 total seems silly but hear me out. Woodruff is not only a much larger favorite(-265) here but also gets a much better matchup against a Pirates team that ranks 2nd to last in runs scored and wRC+(81) and dead last in wOBA(.286) on the season. For Woodruff, he has been elite since the short outing on opening day holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in 11 straight starts(1.13 ERA/2.66 xFIP) with a 33% K rate. Add in the $900 discount on DraftKings and he is my top pitcher on this slate. Tyler Mahle FD - P 8500 DK - SP 7900 Opponent - COL (Kyle Freeland) Park - CIN FD - 37.24 DK - 20.71 Up next is my favorite value pitcher on the slate in Tyler Mahle who continues to come in under the $8K mark on DraftKings despite getting off to a career-best start. Outside of two awful starts where he allowed six and seven earned runs, he has held opponents to two or fewer in 10 of 12 starts and enters with an impressive 3.32 ERA/3.62 xFIP. He also gets a plus matchup tonight against a Rockies team that ranks dead last in wRC+(71) which is park-adjusted. No matter which elite arm you are paying up for, Mahle is my favorite SP2 on DraftKings in all formats. Catcher/First Base Matt Olson FD - 1B 3800 DK - 1B 5400 Opponent - KC (Brady Singer) Park - OAK FD - 11.16 DK - 8.27 If paying up at the first, Olson is the clear choice for me for a couple of reasons starting with the matchup. He and the A's face Brad Singer who has given up eight or more walks/hits in five of his last six starts and struggles much more against lefties with a 4.99 xFIP and has given up a .348 wOBA and all four home runs against in the splits. The biggest change for Olson this season has been the patience as he has brought his K rate down to 17% after topping 25% in four previous seasons. This has pushed him to an insane .393 wOBA and 158 wRC+, both among...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Thursday 6/10/21

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Thursday, 6/10/21 Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB and NBA optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! After a huge Thursday slate last week, we're back to a more normal one here. We have a lot of teams traveling, with only six games making up this night slate. The one thing that needs to be monitored is the weather. That's common on every slate, but the San Fran-Washington game definitely has some question marks when we write this on Wednesday evening. If that game has any postponement threat, go ahead and fade it, eliminating 17 percent of the player pool. Pitchers Trevor Rogers FD - P 10100 DK - RP 9000 Opponent - COL (Chi Chi González) Park - MIA FD - 36.56 DK - 19.43 Whenever you have one of the hottest pitchers in baseball facing one of the worst lineups, you have to use them in DFS. Let's kick things off by talking about my Rockies. This team is an embarrassment outside of Coors Field, ranked dead-last in runs scored, OBP, OPS, and xwOBA on the road. They're actually lapping the field in many of those barely averaging over two runs a game. That's horrifying in a spacious ballpark like Marlins Park and even more terrifying against a guy like Trevor. The spectacular southpaw has allowed three runs or fewer in all 12 starts he's made, generating a 1.97 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 10.6 K/9 rate. Just take the guaranteed quality start and build your lineup from there. Frankie Montas FD - P 7400 DK - SP 8100 Opponent - KC (Mike Minor) Park - OAK FD - 34.06 DK - 17.9 This is far from a guaranteed quality start with Montas's volatility, but we like his upside in this spot. What really killed Frankie's numbers is the fact that he allowed six runs or more in two of his first four starts. Since then, he's been a different player, generating a 3.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 9.0 K/9 rate in his other 10 starts. Those two rough outings came against the Dodgers and Twins, which tells you everything you need to know. The Royals are far from those lineups, with Kansas City ranked 17th in runs scored, 22nd in OBP, 19th in OPS, and 21st in wOBA. We also don't mind that Montas gets a home start at Oakland Coliseum, owning a 3.06 and 1.17 WHIP there between 2019-20. Catcher/First Base Vladimir Guerrero Jr. FD - 1B 4400 DK - 1B 5400 Opponent - CHW (Dallas Keuchel) Park...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Wednesday 6/9/21

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Gerrit Cole FD - P 11500 DK - SP 11200 Opponent - MIN (Randy Dobnak) Park - MIN FD - 42.63 DK - 24.07 Cole has gotten wrecked for earned runs in two of his last four starts but I am not at all concerned, especially considering the lack of pitching on this slate. Outside of those two duds, Cole has been elite this season holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in 10 of 12 starts, good for a 2.26 ERA/2.34 xFIP, and has not only has he been consistent but also provides a ton of upside with a 36.5% K rate. The matchup is nothing to write home about as the Twins are slightly above average in the split vs. righties(105 wRC+) and overall on the season(106 wRC+) but Cole is still easily the top pitcher on this slate. Austin Gomber FD - P 9500 DK - 6000 Opponent - MIA (Undecided) Park - MIA FD - 32.99 DK - 16.3 Stacking Cole with multiple big bats shouldn't be an issue on this slate given the two rookie pitchers who have been terrific lately and both in the $6k range on DraftKings. I will take the cheaper of the two and roll with Austin Gomber who is massively underpriced relative to his FanDuel price. He has definitely had some bumps along the way(gave up 5+ ER twice in three starts) but has been rolling lately holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in five straight starts and three of those came at home in Coors Field. Tonight he gets a huge park factor upgrade getting a start in Miami vs. the Marlins who have a 88 wRC+ and 28% K rate against southpaws. Also Consider: Lance Lynn(CHW) who has been terrific all season(2.26 ERA/234 xFIP) but gets a tougher matchup vs. the Jays so is a GPP only play for me tonight Catcher/First Base Yuli Gurriel FD 3200 DK 4400 Opponent - BOS (Nathan Eovaldi) Park - BOS FD - 9.95 DK - 7.63 This game has the highest total(9.5) on the board tonight and a great spot to turn to in all formats. If you are not punting SP2 on DraftKings a balanced approach at the first base is in the cards and it starts with Yuli Gurriel. In the short term, he has been scorching hot with hits in five straight including four multi-hit...

Pitchers Tyler Glasnow FD - P 11000 DK - SP 10000 Opponent - WSH (Jon Lester) Park - TB FD - 45.83 DK - 25.72 After a quiet Monday, we are back with a full 15-game slate tonight and three ace pitchers sitting right at the top of the salary. The system has Glasnow sitting atop the PTS/$ rankings and I have to agree here as he comes at a discount from Bieber in a very similar matchup and has been more consistent(2.85 xFIP) with more upside(35% K rate) than Buehler. He also catches the Nats at the right time as they have lost eight of their last 11 while averaging just three runs per game and striking out 25% of the time. All things considered, Glasnow is my top pitcher in all formats tonight. Chris Bassitt FD - P 9700 DK - SP 8800 Opponent - ARI (Jon Duplantier) Park - OAK FD - 38.93 DK - 21.11 The chalk builds on DraftKings are very likely going to contain some combination of two top pitchers tonight and I wouldn't at all be surprised if Bassitt was the highest owned at a price under $9K. He is coming off his shortest outing(4 IP, 4 ER) of the season but overall has been very consistent holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in eight of 12 games and enters the night with a 3.53 ERA/3.65 xFIP. What stands out the most is the matchup vs. the struggling D-backs who have lost 19 of their last 21 games while averaging just 3.1 runs per game and striking our 26% of the time. Lock and load in all formats on DraftKings and he makes a projected low-owned GPP pivot on FanDuel. Catcher/First Base Matt Olson FD - 1B 3900 DK - 1B 5200 Opponent - ARI (Jon Duplantier) Park - OAK FD - 12.38 DK - 9.18 The A's lead all teams in implied runs as of writing this and are easily my favorite team to target on this slate. Not only have they been red-hot lately(.362 wOBA/138 wRC+ last 7 days), they get an elite matchup vs. Jon Duplantier who has given up 11 hits and nine earned runs(4 HR) through his first two starts. For Olson, he comes into the night with a six-game hit streak that includes four multi-hit efforts, three doubles, and two home runs. He is having a...

START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW!   Pitchers Kevin Gausman FD - P 11200 DK - SP 8900 Opponent - CHC (Kohl Stewart) Park - SF FD - 35.45 DK - 18.81 A highly touted prospect, Gausman is the definition of a late bloomer. Critics will point to the small sample size over the last couple of years, but digging a little deeper shows that these improvements are legit. Gausman dramatically changed his pitching repertoire last season to great effect, and this year's 3.05 xFIP is nearly identical to last year's 3.06 number. He's maintained his double digit K/9 while improving on his already solid control, and certainly qualifies as an ace in today's game. The Cubs are far from an easy match-up, but they do own a top 10 K rate this season. At -165, Gausman is the most heavily favored pitcher on the main slate, and is a great cash game option. Jacob deGrom FD - P 11500 DK - SP 11100 Opponent - SD (Joe Musgrove) Park - SD FD - 46.84 DK - 26.77 It would be tough to heap enough superlatives on Jacob deGrom given the pitcher he's become, and he's going to be an obvious cash game option any time he takes the hill. The Padres are projected for fewer than 3 implied runs here, which is pretty astounding for a lineup that solid. The only thing holding us back from running deGrom in cash games is the combination of the price and the match-up. As just a -130 favorite against Musgrove and the Padres, you could get screwed playing deGrom even if he's as good as ever. Also considered: Clayton Kershaw. I wrote these guys up by accident before seeing there were two slates, so please enjoy these bonus pitcher picks for the early slate: Lucas Giolito FD - P 11600 DK - SP 9500 Opponent - DET (Tarik Skubal) Park - CHW FD - 41.18 DK - 22.37 After three straight years, I think we can pretty safely say that this is who Giolito is at this point: a mid-3s xFIP guy with 11+ Ks/9, and a nightmare for opposing batters. He's a -200 favorite against the hapless Tigers, who enter this game with the league's worst wOBA and highest K rate. It's very rare to get a pitcher this good in the best possible match-up, and you can believe cash game players will be all over him here....
