There just isn’t likely to be a ton of savings around the rest of the positions so you’ll need to make some tough choices. The Hawks have, easily the highest implied total (120.75) of the slate, five points higher than the next-closest team. Considering the elimination style of this game, I think it’s likely we get 40+ minutes out of Trae in this one and the upside on that kind of run is enormous. Over the last seven games of the season, Young averaged 32 points and 10 assists while grabbing the occasional rebound (or three). He’s one of the unique offensive forces in the game and that should be on display in an up-and-down game against the Hornets. LaMelo Ball FD - $9000 DK - $9700Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 49.02 DK - 53.29 LaMelo is coming cheaper than Trae Young and Dejounte Murray for a reason, but that is likely to help us here when constructing lineups. When he’s given full run (not a guarantee) he can put up numbers with some of the best in the game. But it’s been inconsistent at times, and that does have me a little worried. But it’s also the thing that keeps the price in the next tier below, allowing for slightly easier lineup construction. Ball is a triple-double threat when everything is cooking, and that should be the case in this elimination game with the Hawks. The FanDuel price is particularly advantageous. Dejounte Murray FD - $10600 DK - $10800Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 56.4 DK - 59.46 From a fantasy perspective, Dejounte Murray is the best of these three games, but there are things working against him here that have him third on the list on this slate. Point Guard / Shooting Guard Darius Garland FD - $8900 DK - $9600Opponent - BKNProj Pts FD - 51.45 DK - 56.48 The Cavaliers might be incentivized to play Darius Garland all 48 minutes in this game, or at least a number very close to that. They will need every bit of his scoring to make it past the Nets and secure a spot as the seventh seed in the playoffs. He ran 41 against them just four days ago, scoring 31 points on 12-24 shooting. The issue in that game was that he really didn’t do much else, not tallying a rebound and recording only three assists. But the lack of those other stats does feel more like an outlier than anything else. There are a few different big money plays on this slate, but Garland is coming just a tick below that top group in terms of pricing. But he has as much upside as anyone else going. Reggie Jackson FD - $5700 DK - $6600Opponent - MINProj Pts FD - 35.43 DK - 39.16 The Clippers got a little wonky with their minutes down the stretch of the season, resting guys all over the place and playing odd rotations when it became clear that the play-in game was in their destiny. But this game will see the end of that and I think we can expect a heavy workload from Reggie Jackson. Though Paul George returning to the lineup full-time clearly cuts into the usage rates for Jackson, the latter was still able to find plenty of opportunity in the offense, getting up 19 and 24 shots respectively when the two played a full game’s worth of minutes just a week or so ago. The price is just too cheap on FanDuel especially. Giannis and the rest of the crew are going to sit so this should be an easy win. But for the Cavs’ sake, it would make sense to keep everyone going as long as possible in order to secure the win, and from that perspective, it makes sense to play Garland here. There aren’t a ton of big money plays on this slate and plenty of ways to save so this is a cash game way to go. Luka Doncic FD - $11600 DK - $12200Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 58.32 DK - 62.38 There is still a world in which the Mavericks really want to play for seeding and if that’s the case then Luka is basically a must-play on this big slate. Again, we are in weird waters here with not knowing where everyone stands. But this is also a guy averaging 33 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds over the last six games. That’s as good as a line as you’ll see from anyone in the game and when he’s dialed up the fantasy output is at an all-time level. Again, we are going to need to wait to hear on starting lineups here, but Luka avoided a suspension for this game with his 16th foul so we should have him going full in this game. Most teams are just treading water until the playoffs or their season is well over. But the 76ers still have a chance to make it to the three seed in the East if they want and that should be enough motivation to play the starters at least moderate minutes. Sure, they are likely to completely demolish the Pacers who have been trying to lose with a fury over the last month, but Harden’s floor should be high enough in this one to justify the expense. And seeing as how there will be plenty of cheap plays in other places we are likely to just pay up for him and Embiid and call it a day in that tier. Jordan Poole FD - $7900 DK - $8000Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 39.86 DK - 41.99 It’s hard to know how much the Warriors value the three seed in the West though one has to assume they still see this as a very winnable game considering the Spurs have chosen to sit basically their entire starting five. Even in limited minutes Poole could be in for major usage considering Stephen Curry is already out and Klay Thompson is going to sit as well. This scenario played out two games ago against the Kings and Poole ran 34 minutes, putting up 15 shots and dropping 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists. He and Wiggins should lead the way in usage with the only question becoming if they play enough minutes to hit value. Tre Jones FD - $6500 DK - $5400Opponent - GSProj Pts FD - 30.49 DK - 30.46 The Spurs are sitting basically everyone out for this game including Dejounte Murray, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Jakob Poeltl. With a lot of uncertainty going into this slate of games because of different teams’ motivations, I do think there is at least some moderate safety in this play. Dallas is huge favorites over a lowly, and tanking, Portland team but Luka at least has a solid floor if the Mavs are motivated to put a stamp on this one early. Luka has scored 30+ points in five of his last six games with double-digit assists in each of his last four. LaMelo Ball FD - $8800 DK - $9100Opponent - CHIProj Pts FD - 49.9 DK - 54.36 Though they are probably going to be the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference, that isn’t a certainty yet and the Hornets have the motivation to keep really trying at least through Friday’s games. Though the game on Thursday against the Magic turned into a blowout, we saw the willingness to play LaMelo a lot of minutes and that should be the case again here against Chicago. In closer matchups, Ball should push 36-37 minutes which with his fantasy profile is more than enough to justify these prices. In fact, they look like total bargains all things considered. Over the last six games, he’s averaging 22 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and 2.5 blocks. The FanDuel price is basically a lock on this slate. Zavier Simpson FD - $4700 DK - $3900Opponent - LALProj Pts FD - 37.26 DK - 39.54 Hilariously, this slate is probably going to come down to moderately stacking this entire game, which is featuring a laundry list of scrubs.
