It is the third event of the 2022-23 season and one of my favorite times of the year as we get an influx of young players coming from the Korn Ferry Tour looking to make their name on the big boy tour. The TPC Summerlin course has been a staple for this event going back to the early 90's when it was a Par 72 setup. It was changed over to a Par 71 after the 2008 events and stretches out over 7,200 yards. It has four par 3's ranging from 168 yards up to the monster 239-yard 8th hole. There are 11 par 4's this week but the range to target will be the 400-450 yard range as seven fall in that range with two in the sub-400-yard range and just two that stretch out over 450 yards. Two of the three par 5's are standard distance(563, 560) with par 5 13th hole stretching out over 600 yards. The fairways provide generous landing areas and the greens are well above average in size and this will put a ton of reliance on the irons and putter. The winning score has been in the -20's in four straight and eight of the last 10 trips to TPC Summerlin and with an early forecast of heat and no wind, we can expect it to get there once again....

The Course Country Club of Jackson Par 72 - 7,460 Yards Greens - Bermuda **Click the image above to see a hole-by-hole breakdown from PGATour.com** Previous Five Winners(by season) 2022 - Sam Burns(-22) 2021 - Sergio Garcia(-19) 2020 - Sebastian Munoz(-18) 2019 - Cameron Champ(-21) 2018 - Ryan Armour(-19) After another USA victory in the President's Cup, the 2022-23 PGA Tour season continues with a trip to the Country Club of Jackson for the Sanderson Farms Championship. The course is a Par 72 with some length as it is listed at 7,460 yards on the scorecard. Despite that, it has played as one of the easiest courses on tour ranking 45th out of 50 courses during the 2022 season and has not ranked inside the Top 25 in any season. It does have some of the narrowest fairways on tour but the rough is only around 2" tall on average and doesn't present much of a challenge. Right off the bat, this elevates SG: Approach in my model and breaking that down further, I like to look at Good Drive % and Rough Proximity which take into account a low fairways hit % in the 50-55% range. What I find, however, in these early season events is that stats models can be a bit misleading with an influx of Korn Ferry Tour players who have a very small or no sample size on the PGA Tour. With this, I will be looking at a lot of different data to come up with my player pool and favorite plays which you will see below. Let's get started. Top Targets Sahith Theegala World Golf Ranking (#51) Vegas Odds (20/1) Draftkings ($10,400) FanDuel ($11,600) Theegala is coming off a very successful rookie season on Tour where he made 26 of 32 cuts(81%), came close to winning the Travelers Championship(T2), and...

Quarterbacks Jalen Hurts FD 8100 DK 7600 Opponent WASProj Points FD - 24.1 DK - 24.89 Jalen Hurts is QB4 in DraftKings scoring on the season and leads the position with 147 rushing yards through two weeks. He’s coming out of the gate slinging and the Eagles are coming off a big blowout win over the Vikings on Monday night. The rushing ability gives him such a high floor and this game has the third-highest over/under of the slate (50). I like Hurts as a cash game option because it’s clear the Eagles will keep their foot on the gas on offense and he has big touchdown equity considering how they use him in the running game. Josh Allen FD 9000 DK 8200 Opponent MIAProj Points FD - 23.33 DK - 24.13 Through the first two weeks of the season Josh Allen is QB2 on DraftKings and is tied for the league lead with seven throwing touchdowns. His ranking on the list is even more impressive considering the Bills haven’t even really been in close games and have been able to take their foot off the gas late in both. This game’s 54 total is the highest of the main slate and we could be looking at another shootout similar to what ended up happening last week between the Fins and the Ravens. Give me all of Josh Allen if that were to be the case and spending up here makes sense. Running Backs Joe Mixon FD 8200 DK 7600 Opponent NYJProj Points FD - 17.96 DK - 19.86 After two weeks, Joe Mixon leads the league in running back usage with 59 touches (rushing attempts + passing targets). That’s eight more than the next-closest guy (Leonard Fournette) and it’s something we can lean into this week. The Bengals are road favorites again the Jets who have been the league’s worst defense in terms of DVOA through the first two weeks. Mixon’s price isn’t out of control for the amount the team is leaning on him in the offense. Austin Ekeler FD 8700 DK 8000 Opponent JAXProj Points FD - 18.74 DK - 21.72 With Keenan Allen out in Week 2, more of the passing down work went Ekeler’s direction and he finished with 10 targets, turning it into 9 catches and 55 yards. He also...

The Course Wilmington Country Club Par 71 - 7,534 Yards Greens - Bentgrass **Click the image above to see a hole-by-hole breakdown from PGATour.com** The first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs wrapped up on Sunday night with Will Zalatoris beating out Sepp Straka on the third playoff hole. Pretty incredible for Willy Z considering he was closer to the bottom of the leaderboard than the top after a 71 in round one. The win moved him from 12th to 1st in the standings and he and 67 others will now head to the BMW Championship where the field will be cut down to 30 for the final event, the Tour Championship. The BMW Championship has alternated courses each year for the playoffs and this year will be hosted at Wilmington Country Club. While we don't have course history to go off of this week, it is not hard to tell the players will face a U.S. Open-like challenge in this Par 71 that stretches over 7,500 yards. On top of that, it has tree-lined fairways with strategic bunkers placed in key landing areas on both sides of the fairway, some blind tee shots, and doglegs which can also create some problems as missing the fairway means dealing with around 4-inch bluegrass rough. On approach, the golfers will see very large bentgrass greens that are expected to be firm and fast. Statistically, my top stat is going to be SG: Approach as a whole with some added weight on long-iron proximity. Now let's jump into the picks. Top Targets Justin Thomas FedEx Cup Rank (#10) Vegas Odds (14/1) Draftkings ($10,100) FanDuel ($11,200) Thomas made his first start in the USA since a rough stretch overseas where he missed the cut at the Scottish Open and finished T53 at the Open Championship. While the irons were not exactly sharp(+.8 SG:...

Poston(-22) 2018 - Brandt Snedeker(-21) 2017 - Henrik Stenson(-22) Top Targets Sungjae Im FedEx Cup Rank (#15) Vegas Odds (18/1) Draftkings ($10,500) FanDuel ($11,300) Im appears back in form after a runner-up finish at the 3M Open where he combined some elite ball-striking(+10.7 strokes gained) with a hot putter(+3.8 strokes gained). He now returns to Sedgefield CC where he has enjoyed nothing but success with a T24, T9, and T6 in three trips and what really stands out is the fact he leads the outright odds market yet is fourth in fantasy pricing on FanDuel and DraftKings. All things considered, Im is my favourite top-tier DFS play this week in all formats. Denny McCarthy FedEx Cup Rank (#40) Vegas Odds (35/1) Draftkings ($8,900) FanDuel ($9,800) I am high on a balanced approach this week and will have a lot of exposure to both Si Woo and McCarthy but if choosing just one, I lean toward the latter for a couple of reasons. First of all, both are in play for cash and I will likely pair them together but for GPP, in my opinion, we are going to get an ownership discount on Denny after missed cuts in two of his last three events including last week at the Rocket Mortgage where he was higher owned. I am not concerned as he surrounded those MC's with three Top 10 finishes and has made 19 of his last 22 cuts overall. While he hasn't had the same success as Si Woo here at Sedgefield, he has still been good making the cut all four trips with a Top 10 and three Top...
