Pitcher Gerrit Cole FD 10500 DK 12500 Opponent - SEA (Mike Leake) Park - SEA FD - 42 DK - 22.44 We’ve been saying it basically all season long, but Cole is still coming way too cheap (especially on FanDuel) for the newfound strikeout upside he possesses since coming over from the Pirates. He has the second-best K/9 numbers (12.42 per nine) in the majors after Chris Sale with the sixth-best xFIP among qualified pitchers at 3.04. Even with the Astros beat up on the offensive end (Springer, Correa, and Altuve are all on the DL) Houston still comes in as the highest opening money line favorite of that day at -230. Most of that falls on Cole who is easily the best arm of the slate. He’ll face a Mariners team ranked 17th in the league against righties this season, though it should be mentioned that, as a group, they don’t strike out all that often (20%). Regardless, at these prices on a big slate, I think Cole is easily the cash game play on both sites. Nathan Eovaldi FD 8700 DK 9700 Opponent - BAL (Dylan Bundy) Park - BAL FD - 32.3 DK - 17.08 I think we can call Nathan Eovaldi’s first start in a Red Sox uniform an overwhelming success. He went eight shutout innings against the Yankees, allowing only three hits, striking out four and surrendering only one walk. He doesn’t profile as a big strikeout arm, but he’s been ultra-efficient this season with a 6.9:1 K:BB rate, allowing only nine walks in 72 innings. The Orioles are a bottom-feeding offense this season and traded away Machado and Schoop at the deadline. They’re now trotting out a group that very much looks like a bunch of has-beens and never-will-bes. Eovaldi and the Sox are -175 road favorites in Camden Yards with the Orioles hovering around 3.8 implied runs at open. He’s coming very cheap on FanDuel which becomes interesting if you want to stack...
DFSR’s Daily Fantasy MLB Podcast for FanDuel & DraftKings Wednesday 8/8/18
DFSR's Daily Fantasy MLB Podcast for FanDuel & DraftKings Wednesday 8/8/18 DFSR’s Doug Norrie and James Davis are on the MLB podcast discussing a double slate of action for FanDuel and DraftKings. There’s a lot to like about the afternoon and evening sets of games with some interesting pitching options and some real bums taking the mound as well. They take long looks at Patrick Corbin for the early slate and break down some of Luis Severino’s recent struggles on the later slate. They also discuss Vincent Velasquez, Mike Clevinger, and Clayton Kershaw as options. For stacks, the Mariners look to be in a great spot against Yovani Gallardo in the afternoon set of games. And in the evening the Yankees get Lucas Giolito, the Cubs face Heath Fillmyer and the Brewers look too cheap on FanDuel. Be sure to subscribe...

Pitcher Early Patrick Corbin FD 10000 DK 11100 Opponent - PHI (Vince Velasquez) Park - ARI FD - 42.48 DK - 22.55 From an earned run perspective, Corbin’s last two starts were no great shakes, but he was BABIP-d and LOB%’d hard in both. He still struck out 16 batters in 12 total innings keeping alive the K surge he’s displayed this year thanks to a slight overhaul to his approach. Corbin is working with a slightly different pitch arsenal (reduced the fastball, added a curveball) and it’s producing fantastic results. He’s striking out batters at a 31% clip and the 2.66 xFIP is the best of his career. The Phillies are a bottom-third offense against lefties this season and strike out 23% of the time. Corbin is a modest -150 opening home favorite with the over/under dropping from 8 to 7.5 almost immediately. For the early slate, he’s the best arm going. On DraftKings, I actually don't mind pairing Corbin with Vincent Velasquez in cash games. The latter comes cheap for a guy posting career-high 10.2 per nine strikeout stuff. It's not a great GPP strategy because you negate the win in a matchup against each other, but I think it's in play for cash. Main Luis Severino FD 9400 DK 11900 Opponent - CHW (Lucas Giolito) Park - CHW FD - 44.62 DK - 24.8 It’s something of a concern that Severino hasn’t gone more than 5.2 innings in any of his last five starts. But it was encouraging that he at least went 115 pitches in the last one. The reason I mention it is the Yankees seem to have worked their pitchers less in the short term with quicker hooks. It’s also a little troubling that he’s allowed 23 earned runs in his last 25 innings. He’s just struggled in the short term. On Wednesday though he gets a chance for a bounce-back game. Severino comes in as the day’s best money line favorite at -270 on the road against the White Sox. They rank in the bottom third of the league against righties this season and strike out 26% of the time in that split. The recent performance has Severino’s price way down on FanDuel but you are still paying something of a premium on DraftKings. I’m...
DFSR’s Daily Fantasy MLB Podcast for FanDuel & DraftKings Tuesday 8/7/18
DFSR's Daily Fantasy MLB Podcast for FanDuel & DraftKings Tuesday 8/7/18 DFSR's Doug Norrie and James Davis are back on the MLB podcast after a week off. It's an interesting evening slate of games with some front-line starters taking the mound as well as some real gas cans. They start off talking Max Scherzer in the second game of the Nationals-Braves doubleheader. He's the clear top option. But they also get into Zack Greinke, Andrew Heaney and Carlos Carrasco as viable options as well. For stacks, there are plenty of bum arms with Felix Hernandez and Bartolo Colon making the Seattle and Texas offenses look good on paper. Plus the guys look at the Angels against Andrew Heaney and the Yankees up against Reynaldo Lopez. All of this and more on a full Tuesday MLB podcast. Be sure to subscribe...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Max Scherzer FD 11900 DK 13900 Opponent - ATL (Sean Newcomb) Park - WSHFD - 49.03 DK - 23.1 You can tell Scherzer is pitching on any given day largely based on just checking the top of our pitcher's picks article at this point. With 350+ innings of 12+ K/9 and low 2s BB/9 over the past two seasons Scherzer has repeatedly demonstrated that he's not only one of the highest upside pitchers in the game, but also one of the safest as well. This Braves match-up is slightly below average, with the Bravos clocking in the bottom third of the league in K% vs. RHP while maintaining a league average wOBA. As a -195 favorite, Scherz ranks as the second biggest favorite on the day as well. I'm not sure the DraftKings price winds up leaving enough room for him, but on FD? Get ready for some serious ownership in all formats. Carlos Carrasco FD 10300 DK 11500 Opponent - MIN (Adalberto Mejia) Park - CLEFD - 38.74 DK - 21.16 If there's an argument for pivoting away from Scherzer at any point it might be for going in favor of Carlos Carrasco. He's the biggest favorite on the day at -220, and he has a similar match-up against the Twins strike out a hair more than the Braves but who have a hair better wOBA. Carrasco has also sort of been a Scherzer-lite over the last two years, with 323 innings of 10.1 K/9 and sub 2 BB/9 ball. Vegas has him projected to give up slightly more runs than Scherzer, but you're not playing Carrasco because he's just better straight up - you're playing him because of the discount in cash games or for separation in big tournaments. I think he makes a fine play for either, particularly on DraftKings. Andrew Heaney FD 9000 DK 8800 Opponent - DET (Jacob Turner) Park - LAAFD - 36.85 DK - 19.68 If you wanted to go a hair cheaper for your DraftKings pitcher 2 slot I feel okay about Andrew Heaney. He's far from an elite arm, but an 8.53 K/9 and a 2.35 BB/9 are nothing to sneeze at, and the 6 IP per start he's averaged this year mean you're getting a pretty solid floor here...
