Pitcher Early Jacob Faria FD 5500 DK 6200 Opponent - TEX (Cole Hamels) Park - TB FD - 31.66 DK - 16.35 After getting brutalized in his first two starts, giving up nine runs and eight walks in only five and two-thirds innings, Faria bounced back in a big way against the Phillies. He went 5.1 innings, striking out seven and allowing only one earned run. The first two starts look (hopefully) like the outliers and were quite divergent from his first season on the mound. He struck out close to a batter an inning and has flashed major upside potential in the minors. The Rangers are working with something of a makeshift lineup, though they do have lefty power bats like Choo, Mazara, and Gallo to deal with. But as a team, they strike out 25% of the time and Faria is working in one of the best pitcher’s parks around. He’s still coming incredibly cheap on both sites and it’s rare we considering someone in this price tier on FanDuel. Andrew Triggs FD 8000 DK 8500 Opponent - CHW (Carson Fulmer) Park - OAK FD - 32.93 DK - 16.58 Triggs has been dealing to start the season, striking out more than a batter an inning and working a 3.23 xFIP. On Wednesday, he’ll face the White Sox who have a league average wOBA but K the second most in baseball at 25%. The key for Triggs here is Chicago doesn’t have much patience and they walk at a bottom-third rate in the league. Triggs has struggled with the free passes and it’s limited his ability to go deeper into games. That’s the one concern with his profile. But if he can manage the pitch count, there’s big-time upside in this matchup. Consider Cole Hamels. Main Gerrit Cole FD 10600 DK 11900 Opponent - SEA (Mike Leake) Park - SEA FD - 38.68 DK - 20.54 Man, what to make of this guy? After roughly 800 innings with the Pirates that...
DFSR’s Daily Fantasy MLB Podcast for FanDuel & DraftKings Wednesday 4/17/18
DFSR's Daily Fantasy MLB Podcast for FanDuel & DraftKings Wednesday 4/17/18 DFSR’s Doug Norrie and James Davis take to the podcast for a full day in Tuesday baseball. There’s plenty to like about today’s games with a bunch of upper tier arms taking the bump and some offenses in solid matchups. Corey Kluber looks like the clear SP1 on this slate against a Twins team that will strike out near the bottom of the order. He comes in as a huge favorite and has the pitching pedigree we like to see for cash game safety. The guys also spend quite a bit of time discussing Shohei Ohtani and his early season wizardry on the mound. They debate whether or not the performance is in any way sustainable going forward. On offense, the guys discuss the Brewers against Sal Romano, the Rays against Matt Moore and the A's against Miguel Gonzalez. All of this and much more on a full Tuesday MLB podcast for FanDuel and DraftKings. Be sure to subscribe...
Daily Fantasy MLB Basketball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 4/16/18
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/16/18 Monday in baseball comes at us after a crazy day of postponed games the likes of which we've never seen before. The Red Sox Patriot's Day game has already been canceled for Monday and the Yankees' game isn't on the main slate. But we will still find the value and work out some of the better plays on the day. Cole) Park - NYM FD - 38.71 DK - 21.02 We miss the best pitching option on the day in Luis Severino because the Yankee game starts at 6:35 and isn’t on the main slate. So we are left to sort out the rest of the pieces for safety in cash games. deGrom hasn’t maintained the same level of K’s we saw from him last year, but 2017 could end being an outlier on that front. That being said, he’s still striking out a batter an inning and keeping the xFIP in the low 3’s. This isn’t a fantastic matchup, but there’s a dirty of high-quality arms on this slate (they were all scheduled to pitch on Sunday). Washington has a daunting top of the order, highlighted by Bryce Harper. But deGrom is a -171 favorite, the highest on the main slate of games. It’s a bit of a stretch on DraftKings, but the FanDuel pricing leaves plenty of room for bats. Aaron Nola FD 8800 DK 10400 Opponent - ATL (Julio Teheran) Park - ATL FD - 34.95 DK - 18.51 Nola hasn’t been able to sustain the kind of strikeout numbers he flashed in his first two seasons in the majors. He’s putting down less than 6.5 batters per nine in his first three starts of the season. The innings have been there, but he simply isn’t missing bats. I’m drumming it up to small sample size and encouraged that his most recent game against the Red (8IP, 6Ks) was his best of the young season. Atlanta doesn’t K a ton as a team and have been solid on offense this season, but Nola’s pedigree wins out here. The Phillies are -128 favorites which doesn’t leave a lot of breathing room when projecting a win, but Nola should be able to work through the bottom half...
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 4/15/18
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/15/18 It’s a full Sunday in baseball with the weather already wreaking havoc on the schedule. White Sox-Twins and Blue Jays-Indians have already been postponed and some other games might not be far behind. But there’s still plenty of value on this slate with some elite arms taking the bump. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with MLB? Be sure to read our free MLB Ebooks on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Chris Sale FD 11000 DK 12400 Opponent - BAL (Dylan Bundy) Park - BOS FD - 47.61 DK - 26.9 Whenever Sale takes the mound, we need to strongly consider putting him into our cash game lineups. He enters the day as a massive -205 favorite against the Orioles and has picked up right where he left off last season. The 12.18 K/9 rate is among the best you’ll see in the majors, he limits the free passes (1.6 per nine). The Orioles have struck out a ton over the last two seasons against lefties (27% of the time) though it should be mentioned they do have some pop in this platoon with a .351 team wOBA over that span. Sale’s numbers are so elite that he mitigates some of that upside. Keep an eye on the weather, but on a day with a few aces going, Sale stands at the top of the list. Noah Syndergaard FD 10700 DK 10500 Opponent - MIL (Jhoulys Chacin) Park - MIL FD - 41.58 DK - 23.16 It’s not always easy/ correct to go double expensive at starting pitcher on DraftKings, but today it’s completely in play. It was a tough choice between Syndergaard and Strasburg in this slot, but I will give the slight edge to Thor. He’s come out of the gate with a 12.38 K/9 rate (which is likely due for some regression) and the 2.10 xFIP is well below his 3.94 ERA. He’s a -198 favorite at home against the Brewers who’ve struck out 25% of the time against righties over the last season plus. Their 2.9 implied run line is the second-lowest of the day (after the O’s against Sale). Keep an eye out on the weather for this game but stacking Sale and Syndergaard in cash on DK could be the way to go. Obviously consider Stephen Strasburg and Shohei Omani as well. I get that it’s not exactly “sharp” to just flat out recommend all...
