Pitcher Patrick Corbin FD 10000 DK 11900 Opponent - CHC (Kyle Hendricks) Park - CHC FD - 38.74 DK - 20.5 Our system really likes Patrick Corbin against the Cubs though you can count me as skeptical (and I created the projections) because Chicago is getting healthy in the middle of the lineup and are patient as a unit. That being said, Corbin’s been nothing short of fantastic this season with a 31% K% and 2.57 xFIP which ranks best in the league (you read that correctly). His 5.5:1 K:BB ratio is about as good as you'll see from any starting pitcher and he's made gains this season by getting away from the fastball (only throwing it 20% of the time) while increasing his other offerings, the sinker (29%), slide (41%) and developing a curveball this year (10%) that he hadn't thrown in the past. It's basically made him a new pitcher and he's been able to sustain the peripherals over the course of the season. Chicago comes in with a lower 3.5 implied run line. And while I'm worried about the matchup, pitching is light today and there's no question Corbin is the best overall pitcher going. Tyler Glasnow FD 6000 DK 7900 Opponent - TEX (Adrian Sampson) Park - TEX FD - 32.79 DK - 17.19 The park isn’t doing him any favors here with Globe Life playing about as good in the power department as any stadium not named Coors in the majors. And the Rangers’ offense can do you some damage seeing as how they rank as an above average team against righties this season. But they do strike out 25% of the time in that split and Glasnow is coming super cheap on both sites. Since being ramped up to a starter’s full pitch count, he’s averaging more than five innings per start (and that included the disastrous 0.2 IP, 7 ER game against Toronto) with about a K per inning and isn’t allowing the walks to get completely out of control. I...
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 9/14/18
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 9/14/18 We're entering the home stretch of the baseball season with September call-ups, pennant races and teams with different motivations working to set a (sometimes) murky MLB landscape. But we've got you covered with some value plays for both FanDuel and DraftKings. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Masahiro Tanaka FD 10200 DK 11600 Opponent - TOR (Marco Estrada) Park - NYY FD - 39.28 DK - 21.25 I think this is the first time all year that (when I’ve written the picks) I’ve left off Scherzer on a day where he’s pitching. He’s seemed like (or close to) the cash game lock on so many slates. But the upper tier price point and matchup against an Atlanta team that’s tough to strike out has me really looking elsewhere for Friday. Enter Tanaka facing the Blue Jays and Marco Estrada. The former opens as a huge -265 home favorite against a Toronto team that’s mixing and matching prospects and call-ups along with their *core* guys at this point in the season. Tanaka looks good on paper from a cash game perspective. In addition to the best win expectation numbers on the slate, you also get a guy striking out more than a batter an inning with solid peripherals (4.5:1 K:BB). He averages right around six innings per start with quality starts in four of his last five outings and has a high floor if the pitch count gets above 100. Zach Eflin FD 7200 DK 6900 Opponent - MIA (Wei-Yin Chen) Park - PHI FD - 39.05 DK - 20.41 There are a few middle-tier arms taking the mound in good spots on Friday which do have me feeling okay getting away from Max in cash. It will allow us to spend up a little more on the bats for a big Friday slate. Eflin draws a dream matchup against the Marlins who are basically a AAA team at this point. They rank 28th in wOBA against righties this season while striking out 23% of the time in that split. Eflin is a -165 home favorite against a Wei-Yin Chen and a Miami offense that struggles to put runs across the plate. The 8.45 K/9 is serviceable at this price point and his command is good, allowing less than 2.5 BB/9 on the season. His 4.08...
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 9/12/18
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 9/12/18 Wednesday's MLB action brings us a full day of games with both an early and evening slate on FanDuel and DraftKings. There are a lot of quality (ace-level) pitchers taking the mound both early and late making for some interesting decisions with cash games. Pitcher Early Gerrit Cole FD 10400 DK 12000 Opponent - DET (Daniel Norris) Park - DET FD - 42.9 DK - 23.14 There are some good pitchers going on the four-game early slate, but two of them (Carlos Carrasco and Blake Snell) are facing each other which does limit each of their respective win expectations. That leaves us with Cole, a big-time -245 road favorite against the hapless Tigers. Detroit enters the games ranked second to last in the league against righty pitching and are the only American League team in the bottom five. I mention this because they actually get to use a DH and still can't outhit the worst NL teams. Cole has put together the best season of his career and it isn’t particularly close. He’s averaged more than 12 K’s per nine, put up a 4.25:1 K:BB ration and the 3.00 xFIP is among the best in the league. The only real concern is the Astros have capped him before 100 pitches in six of his last seven games. That does cut into the upside, but it sure looks like he’s the easy cash game pitcher on both sites for the early slate. Strongly consider James Taillon in that second SP slot on DraftKings. It will be hard to go double-expensive with the arms on this slate and Taillon does look ok as an upper-middle tier option even if the matchup isn't ideal. There's also a strong case to be made to pivoting onto Carlos Carrasco on DraftKings. Carrasco is coming about $2K cheaper over there and gets a good matchup against the Rays. Main Luis Severino FD 10000 DK 9400 Opponent - MIN (Jake Odorizzi) Park - MIN FD - 38.27 DK - 20.88 We’ve been on something of a roller coaster lately with Severino. He went through a brutal stretch at the end of July, allowing 18 runs in 14 innings during a three-game stretch. Then, at the end of August, he bounced back with three solid starts in a row, striking...
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 9/10/18
Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 9/10/18 Happy Monday everyone! Here's to hoping no one has too heavy a football hangover because we're rolling back another MLB slate. There are some *early* 6PM EST games which actually have some interesting plays on both the mound and at the plate. But for this piece, we'll focus mostly on the Main slate of games. We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Jacob deGrom FD 11800 DK 13500 Opponent - MIA (Jeff Brigham) Park - MIA FD - 38.04 DK - 21.01 Hopefully, you were mostly focused on football yesterday and didn’t have time to notice deGrom’s start get scratched well after lock because of the extensive rain delay. It was an enormous bad beat though the weather concerns at least put out some caution in rostering him on Sunday. He’ll instead take the mound on Monday in a much, much better matchup against the Marlins. They third-to-last in team wOBA against righties on the season and strike out 23% of the time in that split. deGrom is one of the best pitchers in the game with 11 K’s per nine and a 5:1 K:BB ratio. His biggest knock is that he plays on the Mets, who stink. He’s just a -150 home favorite against a brutal Marlins team. It speaks more to the Mets offense than anything. The lack of win expectation does make running him in cash games a little dicey because of the price. But he does top out as the best big-money arm. Sean Newcomb FD 6900 DK 7300 Opponent - SF (Dereck Rodriguez) Park - SF FD - 31.74 DK - 16.02 Newcomb’s been something of an enigma this season, turning in some amazing starts but then in others having you watching through your fingers as he racks up walks along with big pitch counts and struggles to make it through five innings. He’s set up for a good game on Monday against a Giants’ team that’s basically playing with its farm system after trading Andrew McCutchen, losing Buster Posey to injury and swapping around the deck chairs on the Titanic of their batting order. The Giants rank 26th against lefty pitching this season with a .292 wOBA and 23% K...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Blake Snell FD 10700 DK 12400 Opponent - BAL (Dylan Bundy) Park - BAL FD - 43.42 DK - 23.02 After basically dominating at every level of the minors only to come to the majors and struggle with his control for a couple of seasons, Snell has finally put it all together in 2018. He’s striking out 10.5 batters per nine and the walks are relatively in check at 3.2 per nine. To be fair, he isn’t nearly as good as the 2.02 ERA would suggest considering the 3.36 xFIP is more than a run higher. He’s been very (very) lucky running a super low BABIP and high 87% LOB%. But he’s still a very good arm and comes in as a fantastic cash game play on Friday. He opens as a -240 home favorite, easily the best win expectation odds of the main slate. Baltimore is just trash. They rank 28th in wOBA against lefties this season and that number even includes time when they had Manny Machado on the team. They are playing with a skeleton crew of has-beens and never-will-be's. Plus they are coming into a pitcher’s park against a high-K arm. This is a dream spot for Snell and I suspect he’s the chalk cash pitcher on FanDuel. It’s closer on DraftKings where he’s priced rather aggressively. Chris Archer FD 7400 DK 7300 Opponent - MIA (Dan Straily) Park - PIT FD - 34.71 DK - 18.43 Archer has been all over the place since coming to the Pirates at the trade deadline. He turned in a solid game against Atlanta last time out, striking out five and walking only one in six innings. But he got rocked the game before and has made it to six innings exactly once in his six Pirates’ starts. It’s led to quite the tip in price and he’s coming about as cheap as one could imagine for a guy with his strikeout stuff. He lines up as the second-best money line favorite (-200) on the day against the Marlins who rank 28th in wOBA against righties this season. I want to be bullish on Archer going forward, but I admit there is at least some cause for concern considering the erratic nature of his starts. But this matchup...
