Quarterbacks Deshaun Watson FD 8300 DK 7100 Opponent JAXProj Points FD - 24.52 DK - 25.36 The Texans’ season hasn’t gone exactly to plan which is something of an understatement. They are 1-6, have already fired their coach/GM and there’s not a lot of hope on the horizon. But there is reason to suspect Watson can put up points in this matchup. He’s getting to face the worst defense in football in the Jacksonville Jaguars who rank 32nd overall and 32nd against the pass as well. This is the dream matchup for Watson who has been (fantasy-wise) awesome since O’Brien exited. Over the last four games, Watson is averaging 326 passing yards and 2.75 passing touchdowns per while also getting out for 25 yards on the ground. He’s right back to being one of the elite fantasy quarterbacks, something we didn’t see over the first few weeks of the season. Considering how bad the Jaguars are on D, this would be a tough fade in cash games. Kyler Murray FD 8600 DK 7800 Opponent MIAProj Points FD - 23.78 DK - 24.55 To be clear, I think Watson is the clear choice for cash games this week considering the matchup and just what he’s been able to do under the coaching regime. That being said, I think there’s going to be enough value elsewhere to almost have to pay up for one of these top-tier quarterback options. Murray definitely fits that bill this week. On the season, he’s the second overall FanDuel points-per-game scorer and gets it done in every phase of the game. He leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards (437) and rushing touchdowns (7) which helps make up for being merely middle of the pack when it comes to passing touchdowns. Miami has been an above-average defense on the season and is much better against the pass which gives Watson the matchup edge this week. But Murray has as high a floor as any player in the game right now and has been remarkably consistent to start the season. Justin Herbert FD 7900 DK 6800 Opponent LVProj Points FD - 21.1 DK - 22.13 Again, just to reiterate, I don’t want to pivot too hard off of Watson. But if you are looking for a slightly different direction to go at a bit of...

Quarterbacks Russell Wilson FD 8700 DK 7800 Opponent SFProj Points FD - 23.83 DK - 24.31 From a fantasy perspective, Russell Wilson has a couple of things going for him right now. First and foremost, he’s incredible. That’s the most important thing. But not too far behind is that because Seattle’s defense is an absolute sieve, he’ll always have a chance to keep his foot on the gas in the offense. Wilson is the number one per game DraftKings’ scoring player on the season so far, leading Kyler Murray by about 2.5 per. He’s also been remarkably consistent with the lowest coefficient of variation of anyone in the top group. The issue this week is the matchup against the Rams isn’t exactly ideal considering they allow the third-fewest opponent plays per game and have a top-10 defense. But the position is a bit problematic for a variety of reasons this week and you get so much safety with Russ. Ryan Tannehill FD 7500 DK 6800 Opponent CINProj Points FD - 21.13 DK - 21.93 It’s funny to say, but through six games this season, Tannehill is a Top-7 DraftKings per-game quarterback, even edging out Aaron Rodgers who is $800 more expensive ($700 on DraftKings). And this week Tannehill is handed one of the better matchups on the main slate against the lowly Bengals. Cincinnati made Baker Mayfield look like an absolute superstar in Week 7. They are a bottom-third defense and worse against the pass on the season. Tannehill has completed 69% of his passes this season with a 15:2 TD: INT rate. Plus, with AJ Brown back and fully healthy Corey Davis, Tannehill has a full complement of weapons. If you don’t want to spend all the way up for Russ, this is the first level pivot down. Derek Carr FD 7300 DK 5500 Opponent CLEProj Points FD - 18.58 DK - 19.21 Don’t look now, but Derek Carr is putting together a nice season. He’s completing 72% of his passes, good for third overall in the league with a respectable 13:2 TD: INT rate. He’s starting to take more shots downfield but is also a good intermediate passer that allows him to stay away from big mistakes. And yet he’s priced as QB19 (out of 22) on DraftKings this week. That is just a...

With a number of pieces of potential injury news still outstanding, this podcast contains a lot of "if this, then that" scenarios. The trickle-down effects of certain injuries are just enormous. To cherry-pick one example: if Michael Thomas sits, Alvin Kamara likely becomes the best running back play, but there also become solid cheap WR options in Tre'Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway. Having this kind of savings means more expensive plays at other positions become more relevant. If Emmanuel Sanders returns from the Covid IR, however, these plays become less relevant. And this is just an example of one team! There's a similar situation in Seattle, where both Carson and Hyde have questionable tags early in the week. This week is so nuanced that you're just going to have to hear the discussion in order to really wrap your mind around it. Be sure to keep an eye out for DFSR's injury article later in the week, since this week more than any other so far this season really requires you to have your finger on the pulse of multiple injury situations. There are other exciting possibilities to dream about this week as well. Could Tua explode onto the DFS scene? Should we be excited to run it back with Gio Bernard or Jamaal Williams, or has their price come up too much? The DFSR team discusses all this, and more. Love the DFSR podcast? There are a number of unknown factors that make it impossible to fully project what cash game lineups will look like for week 8, but there is still quite a bit to talk about here. Quarterback looks like it's going to come down to a decision between Russell Wilson and some cheap options in Ryan Tannehill and Derek Carr. If we wind up getting cheap options at other plays (like running back) we will wind up paying up. If we don't, we might need to go cheaper this week. Running back could go in any number of directions this week. Can we afford Derrick Henry? Perhaps, if we can get punt plays like Carlos Hyde going this week. There are several known question marks this week, with the status of Joe Mixon, Dalvin Cook, Aaron Jones, Chris Carson, and even Carlos Hyde up in the air. This is a position we'll need to revisit later in the week. Wide receiver has its own interesting discussions. What do we make of Tyler Lockett's 20 target week? How about Davante Adams' return to greatness? Can we roll it back with Marquez Callaway if Michael Thomas misses another game? Is Keenan Allen an easy play in spite of his ongoing touchdown issues? The guys break all this down, and more. Tight end is a mess, as usual, and we're hoping to be able to pay up for George Kittle. That will likely depend on getting cheap plays elsewhere, though, so for now we're standing by. Love the DFSR podcast? Go ahead and subscribe and listen wherever you get your daily podcasts. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Los Angeles Chargers Opponent DENChargers -3 The Chargers didn’t make it always look easy, but they did end up with a 10-point road win over the lowly Jaguars on Sunday. It was their first win since Week 1 and Justin Herbert’s first W since taking over behind center for Tyrod Taylor. The team’s offense has looked more than confident over the last three weeks with close losses to very good Buccaneers and Saints teams in Weeks 5 and 6 respectively. But don’t overlook the defense, while the losses point to a unit looking for an identity, the schedule has been on the tougher side. This defense ranks 12th in defensive DVOA on the season even though the record would seem to point a different direction. This week, they’ll get the Broncos in Denver which has historically been a tough place to travel. But like we said last week with the Chiefs, this Broncos teams’ deficiencies more than offset any downgrade teams get going into the Mile High air of Denver. They got destroyed by the Chiefs last week following two straight wins, but those were over the Jets and the increasingly suspect looking New England Patriots. While the defense has looked competent at times, last week notwithstanding, the offense has been horrific no matter who’s been under center. Sure, it’s been a shaky ride with Lock out of the lineup for some games and the running back situation is hit or miss because of injuries (and otherwise). But this is a team without a ton of hope for improvement on the offensive end. They rank 31st in offensive DVOA. Meanwhile, I still think there’s room for growth on the Chargers’ end as Herbert becomes increasingly more comfortable. Even heading out on the road, it’s hard to imagine the Denver offense getting much of anything going here. Tampa Bay BuccaneersOpponent NYGBuccaneers -10.5 We are starting to get to the point of the season where the separation between the haves and have nots becomes increasingly glaring. Such is the case with the Bucs and the Giants. While 10.5 is a huge number to give on the road, it’s worth noting that this season road teams are slightly outscoring home teams so the advantage of...
