Loose Ends – Analyzing Cheap TEs in Week 6
Loose Ends - Making Sense of the TE position in Week 6 I've spent more time complaining about the tight end position in the NFL this season than I have about writing about it, so I figured it was time to just dig into this thing. We're coming off a week where Nick Vannett was in the 2nd overall FanDuel Million lineup with a 3 catch for 43 yard performance, and Vance McDonald was a 75% cash game play just because he was cheap. I think it's pretty safe to say that the tight end situation has never been more dire - but that doesn't mean there aren't a few diamonds in the rough out there that we can consider. In my week 6 cash game article I talked about Ertz, Ebron, and Njoku - but where else might we be able to look this week? Want to see the rest of this article? DFS NFL Talk Week 7 – Game-by-game Breakdown for FanDuel and DraftKings 10/20/17
DFS NFL Talk Week 7 - Game-by-game Breakdown for FanDuel and DraftKings 10/20/17 DFSR’s Doug Norrie and James Davis take the NFL podcast breaking down every game for Week 7 on FanDuel and DraftKings. There’s a lot to look at here with some lower scoring implied totals coming in across the board. That could end up making for a lower scoring fantasy week in general. They discuss the option of stacking Dak and Zeke together on FanDuel and looking at some mid-tier wide receivers. They break down the implications if Demarco Murray were to sit in Tennessee as well as the difference between relative and actual usage for running backs. Other bigger topics include what to do with LeSean McCoy and Julio Jones, what tight ends stand out and some games to just completely avoid. All of that and much more on a full Friday NFL podcast for FanDuel and DraftKings. Subscribe to this podcast on...

At quarterback, they discuss Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson, two guys coming off of bye weeks and in good matchups this time around. At running back they look at the insane usage for Le’Veon Bell and the newfound RB1 role for Mark Ingram now that Adrian Peterson has left town. They also look at the aforementioned AP as well as Leonard Fournette. Wide receiver has them turning to heavy target guys like Larry Fitzgerald and Jarvis Landry as well as the best in the league, Antonio Brown. Quarterback Dak Prescott FD 8400 DK 7300 Opponent SF Proj Points FD - 23.98 DK - 24.82 When I started writing this column, it sure looked like the Cowboys were going to be without Ezekiel Elliott this week (barring some major reversal in appeals) which would have left the nearly full weight of the Dallas offense on Dak. But even with the Zeke stay of execution our system is loving Dak against a well below average 49ers defense. The latter's coming off a week in which they allowed 330 yards passing to Kirk Cousins and just stink in general. Prescott’s sophomore campaign has seen a dip in overall completion percentage (from 67% to 62%) but an increase in TDs per game (from 1.4 to 2.2 per game) as well as a slight bump in passing yards. He’s also adding more points on the ground where he ranks fifth among all QBs despite playing one game less than everyone ahead of him on the list. They haven't been able to rely quite so heavily on the run this season even in plus matchups. I think you can look for a high floor on Prescott even with the Zeke news. Russell Wilson FD 8100 DK 6400 Opponent NYG Proj Points FD - 20.69 DK - 21.45 He’s another quarterback coming off a bye playing a still decimated Giants’ team (I’m reading very little into what happened in Denver last week). Wilson's completion percentage is down a little this year off his career averages, but he's running a ton more than last season thanks to an offensive line letting interior defenders to get into the pocket sooner. It's not a huge fantasy concern seeing as how the running makes up for a lot in the points scoring department. Wilson's on pace for nearly 500 yards on the ground which is such a huge boost in the "fantasy floor" department. It makes up quite a bit of ground on traditional pocket passers and is why you'll see running QBs in these picks more often than not. The Giants are slightly better against the pass than the run this season (20th and 27th in DVOA respectively before last week's shut down of Denver). Vegas...

We've got you completely covered. Devonta Freeman FD 8500 DK 7400 Opponent MIA Proj Points FD - 16.05 DK - 17.05 He checks all of the running back boxes this week with a high implied total (28.5), big home favorite (-11.5) and projects to see a vast majority of the team’s carries. Freeman been steady (if unspectacular) to start the season though he’s quietly averaging more fantasy points per game (FanDuel scoring) than guys like Le’Veon Bell, Melvin Gordon and Ezekiel Elliott. Yup, I’m as surprised as you. This is thanks, in large part, to Atlanta’s commitment to him in the Red Zone. He’s scored 5 touchdowns (most in the league) while playing one less week than basically every other relevant running back. The Miami D’s been ok against the run this season (2nd in DVOA against the run) but again, this is such a good matchup in every other way. In his four games, Freeman has the best consistency rating among all top 10 RBs (.28 coefficient of variation) and it’s really only his salary giving me pause. Samaje Perine FD 4900 DK 4400 Opponent SF Proj Points FD - 14.53 DK - 16.03 With early news reporting that Rob Kelley will sit out Week 6 we get a chance to pretty confidently target Perine in all formats. He’s exactly what we are looking for in a punt play coming at near minimum salaries across the industry. The Redskins, like the Falcons above, are huge home favorites (-10.5), projected for a ton of points (28) and facing a mediocre 49ers defense. Perine’s been handed the reins before with 40 carries between Weeks 3 and 4 when Kelley was banged up. Perine’s issue is he isn’t very good. He averaged only 2.9 yards per carry in those bell cow weeks against below average run defenses in the Raiders and Rams. The price dictates a play of course, and he should see the goal line work as opposed to pass-catching Chris Thompson....
