Consumers Energy 400 Michigan International Speedway - Brooklyn, MI Track - 2 Mile D-Shaped Oval Intermediate Welcome back race fans. We witnessed another exciting road course race last week at Watkins Glen where Chase Elliott fought off Martin Truex Jr. to win his first career Cup race. It was also just the second win for the Chevrolet camp and first since the Daytona 500 at the start of the year. Despite a fueling issue on pit road, Kyle Busch made his way through the field to pick up a third-place finish and extend his points lead over Kevin Harvick with just four races remaining until the Playoffs. Speaking of the playoffs, let's take a look at the drivers sitting around the bubble. Jimmie Johnson(563 pts) Alex Bowman(523 pts) Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(461 pts) Paul Menard(451 pts) It appears those drivers on the outside looking in are going to need a win to sneak into the playoffs unless Jimmie and Bowman have multiple catastrophic races down the stretch. We will just have to tune in to see how it all unfolds. This week the Monster Energy Cup Series returns to Michigan International Speedway for the Consumers Energy 400 this Sunday afternoon. Michigan is one of two intermediate tracks(Auto Club Speedway the other) on the circuit that are two miles in length and both are D-Shaped Ovals. The only difference between the two is about four degrees of banking in the corners but overall they are good comps that have me weighing track type a lot higher than last week. When researching, keep in mind that Clint Bowyer's win here earlier this season was a rain shortened race that had just 133 laps. From a fantasy perspective, there will be 200 laps in the race and looking at the five races before the rain-shortened race earlier this year there have been three drivers to lead 100 or more laps. In those five races, qualifying and track position has also proven to be very important as there have been five, seven, eight, five, and seven drivers to start inside the Top 10 and finish there at the...

Go Bowling at The Glen Watkins Glen International - Watkins Glen, NY Track - 2.428 Mile Road Course Welcome back race fans. A week after being bumped out of the way for the win at New Hampshire, Kyle Busch went to Pocono and picked up his sixth win of the season after starting back in the 28th position. With Harvick and the #4 team receiving a 10-point(driver & owner) penalty for failing inspection multiple times last week, Busch now holds the points lead by 48 points. That is very significant as the regular season champion receives an additional 15 playoff points. With just five races remaining in the regular season, let's take a look at the drivers on the bubble for the playoffs. 15th - Jimmie Johnson(547 pts) 16th - Alex Bowman(496 pts) 17th - Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(440 pts) 18th - Paul Menard(440 pts) This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Watkins Glen for the second road course race of the season. Sonoma is the more technical of the two(now three) road course tracks while Watkins Glen is the more speedy of the three. For fantasy, dominator points are downgraded even more than Sonoma as there are only 90 laps in the race and only one driver in the last six races has led over 50 laps. As always, qualifying is huge in determining place differential and it shows as there has been just two and seven drivers to pick up double-digit place differential in the last two races here while there was 10+ in each of the four before that. Stay tuned to my cheatsheet for updated throughout the weekend. With that, let's jump in and take a look at some of the track trends, previous winners, and the pre-qualifying targets. Last Six Winners at Watkins Glen Martin Truex Jr.(started 3rd) Denny Hamlin(started 6th) Joey Logano(started 16th) A.J. Allmendinger(started 6th) Kyle Busch(started 5th) Marcos Ambrose(started 5th) Top 5 Current Track History at Watkins Glen Denny Hamlin has been the man here at Watkins Glen over the last two years as he won the race in 2016...

Gander Outdoors 400 Pocono Raceway - Long Pond, PA Track - 2.5 Mile Tri-Oval This week the Monster Energy Cup Series travels back to the Tricky Triangle for the Gander Outdoors 400 this Sunday afternoon. Pocono Raceway is one of the most unique tracks in NASCAR with three turns, all different from one another with anywhere from six to 14 degrees of banking. What makes it the most difficult for crew chiefs and teams is the balanced setup that is needed for a driver to have a good car throughout all the turns which makes for some exciting racing. From a fantasy standpoint, this week is much more about track position than anything else. There has been only one driver to lead 50 or more laps in five of the last six races and no more than five to pick up double-digit place differential points in three straight races here at Pocono. On the flip side, there have been five or more drivers to start and finish inside the Top 10 in all six of those races(seven drivers three times) and just six total drivers to come from a starting position outside the Top 20 to finish inside the Top 10(10%). It will be key to pay clsoe attention to practice and qualifying but if you can't, be sure ot check my sheet on Saturday for updates following each session. My top targets will also be added following the qualifying session. Let's now dig in and take a look at some track trends and pre-qualifying targets. Last Six Winners at Pocono Raceway Martin Truex Jr.(started 4th, led 31 laps) Kyle Busch(started 1st, led 74 laps) Ryan Blaney(started 4th, led 10 laps) Chris Buescher(started 22nd, led 12 laps) Kurt Busch(started 9th, led 32 laps) Matt Kenseth(started 7th, led 2 laps) Top 5 Current Track History at Pocono Raceway Despite not winning here since back in 2011, Brad Keselowski has been the most consistent driver at the track with Top 5 finishes in each of the last five races with a 4.0 average finish. Kevin Harvick is still searching for his first win at...

Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 New Hampshire Motor Speedway - Loudon, NH Track - 1.058 Mile Oval Intermediate Another week, another "Big 3" win as Martin Truex Jr. dominated the race in Kentucky winning stage one and two, leading 174 laps and picking up his fourth win on the season. Just to put into perspective how dominant the Big 3 have been, they have a combined 14 wins in the first 19 races, all seven on mile and a half tracks. Clint Bowyer is the only other driver to win multiple races(wins at Martinsville and Michigan) and Logano, Jones, and Dillon have picked up wins at the plate races. Some people would love to see an old-school approach to the series champion where points determined the champion but the new playoff structure ensures that Busch, Truex, and Harvick are not mortal locks to win as anything can happen once the elimination rounds begin. This week the Monster Energy Cup Series travels to Loudon and New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 this Sunday afternoon. New Hampshire is classified on some sites as a one-mile intermediate but races a lot like a short track and is one of the flatter tracks on the circuit. This makes it difficult to pass putting a ton of emphasis on track position and for fantasy leading laps. There have been two drivers to lead 95 or more laps in each of the last four races here and each one of those drivers started inside the Top 10 starting positions. To further the point, of the drivers finishing Top 10 at the end of the race, six of them have started Top 10 in five of the last six races and only 10 drivers in those six races finished Top 10 after starting outside the Top 20(17%). Even with the introduction of stage racing, place differential has been tough to come by as last year saw just two and four drivers pick up double-digit place differential here. Let's now jump in and take a look at some of the track trends and...
Daily Fantasy NASCAR Race Preview & Picks for DraftKings – Quaker State 400

Quaker State 400 Kentucky Speedway - Sparta, KY Track - 1.5 Mile D-Shaped Oval Intermediate(14° of Banking) It was a wild and crazy race at Daytona that saw half the field hit the garage early due to crashes. That included a ton of big names like the Busch brothers, Keselowski, Larson, Johnson, Harvick, Elliott, Almirola, Hamlin, Logano, and Blaney to name a few. The highlight of the race, at least for me, was seeing Erik Jones pass and hold off Martin Truex Jr. for his first career win. I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing him at the Daytona 500 media day and he is not only a great driver but a great person as well. For fantasy, if you played it contrarian last week and I mean "contrarian" you likely came out way ahead. Looking at the winning lineup from the $3 Slingshot on DraftKings, Erik Jones($8,100) was the highest priced driver in that lineup and there was $14,300 left over in salary. Whoa!! Let this be a lesson for the next plate race at Talladega. This week the Monster Energy Cup Series head to Kentucky Speedway for the Quaker State 400 and for the second straight week the race will be under the lights on Saturday night. The Cup series has only been racing here since 2011 and with just one race per season here, there is somewhat limited data which has me leaning on the track type data a little more this week. It is the seventh 1.5-mile intermediate race of the season and as you will see below, they have been dominated by Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick who have split them with three wins apiece. For fantasy, we are back concentrating on dominator points as there has been at least one driver lead 100 or more laps in each of the seven races here and two or more drivers to lead 50 or more laps in all but two races here. With that let's jump in and take a look at the track trends and some pre-qualifying targets. Last Six Winners at Kentucky Speedway...
