A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there! Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.   Stack Targets   Early Slate Toronto Blue Jays vs. Pat Dean(Twins) If you're looking for some serious firepower then this is the stack for you. The Blue Jays rank 8th in the league in home runs hit off of left-handed pitchers, and they've got plenty of guys who know how to crush bad pitching. Speaking of bad pitching, let's take a look at Pat Dean, who will be making his first big league start this afternoon. Although he's got a K/9 of 7.88 right now, prior to being called up to the majors he didn't have a K/9 much above 5 since he was in single A all the way back in 2011. This is big for the Blue Jays, who have a tendency to strikeout at a rate above the league average. For this particular stack I like the usual suspects in Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki, and Jose Bautista, and these three guys can be paired with either Justin Smoak or Russell Martin (depending on who's hitting in a more advantageous lineup spot, although I tend to lean...

You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.   Stack Targets   Cleveland Indians vs. Tim Adleman(Reds) My favorite stack of the day has to be the Cleveland Indians offense going up against the inexperienced Tim Adleman in the hitter's haven that is Great American Ballpark. Adleman has only thrown 16 big league innings in his career, and while his numbers suggest he's doing a decent enough job, there are definitely areas in his game that can be exploited (namely his struggles against left-handed hitters). Although it is a small sample size of only 29 batters faced, Adleman is allowing lefties to hit .346/.414/.615 against him, and has already given up two home runs. Because of this, I would suggest stacking as many left-handed Indians as you can. Our system likes Carlos Santana (OPS of .874 vs right-handed pitching), Jason Kipnis (.909 OPS vs right-handed pitching), Tyler Naquin ( .316 batting average vs right-handed pitching), and Francisco Lindor (who is better against southpaws, but still good against righties). Combine all of that with the fact that Great American Ballpark is second only to Coors Field in terms of...

I promise that we don't have anything personal against the guy, he's just really not what we consider to be a serviceable big league pitcher. What you need to know about Pelfrey is that he's got an ERA and an xFIP closing in on 6, he's allowed almost as many walks as he has strikeouts, and has already given up 6 home runs this season. I know he had a decent outing against Baltimore his last time out, but I think that was more of a fluke than a sustainable trend. Comerica Park is actually an above average hitters park (which surprised me), and for what it's worth Pelfrey's ERA balloons to 7.04 when he's at home. For the Twins stack, our system really likes Joe Mauer, Brian Dozier, Trevor Plouffe, and Miguel Sano. Each of these guys has struggled a bit this season, but who better to have a break-out game against than one of the worst big league starting pitchers?...

You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.   Stack Targets   Baltimore Orioles vs. Mike Pelfrey(Detroit) This is far and away the best stacking option of the night. We've got the team with the second highest slugging % and OPS against right-handed pitching going up against a guy who's allowing lefties to hit over .400, has an xFIP of over 5.00 and has as many walks as strikeouts on the season. Did I mention the game is in Baltimore, one of the more hitter friendly parks in baseball? Talk about a recipe for disaster (at least for Pelfrey that is). Because of the splits, I would go ahead and plug Matt Wieters and Chris Davis into your lineups to take advantage of Pelfrey's inability to get left-handed hitters out (you can go Alvarez over Davis if he gets a start, but I personally like Davis more). From there you can really go a number of different ways as our system really likes Jonathan Schoop, Manny Machado, and Adam Jones quite a bit. If you can afford it, I'd personally pay up for Machado and Jones, both of...

Stack Targets Note - The Rockies and Diamondbacks are in Coors Field and are the top 2 stacks on the board. Let's look at some stacks that will go a lot less owned. New York Yankees vs. Kris Medlen (Royals) Park - Yankees Stadium Very similar story in this one as yesterday, as we have some strong left-handed hitters playing in a hitter friendly ballpark against a right-handed pitcher who gets hit hard against lefties. Kris Medlen has been nothing to brag about this year, sporting an ERA close to 7 and has walked nearly as many hitters as he's struck out. Diving a little deeper into the numbers, Medlen has an xFIP of 5.28 and a BABIP of .324 (which is great since he doesn't strike a lot of guys out). Moving into the splits, Medlen has struggled quite a bit against left-handed hitters, which is something the Yankees are not in short supply of. Medlen has an xFIP of 5.89, a BB/9 of 6.17 (yes you're reading that correctly), and a FB% of nearly 45% against lefties this season. All...
