A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there! Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.   Stack Targets   Philadelphia Phillies vs. Mike Pelfrey (Tigers) Because the Phillies offense has been up and down for most of the season, I'm sure this seems like a strange suggestion. That is until you see who they're up against. Mike Pelfrey is one of those guys that our system loves to hate, and it seems like every time he's on the mound I'm stacking against him. Here's why. Pelfrey has been horrendous this season against left-handed batters, allowing a line of .378/.433/.598, a wOBA of .437 and a BB/9 of 3.66. Heck he's even been pretty bad against righties too, nearly walking as many batters as he's struck out. But clearly the value here is stacking left-handed bats, and the Phillies have plenty of guys to choose from. Our system is really big on guys like Cesar Hernandez, Maikel Franco, Freddy Galvis, and Odubel Herrera. The system also really, really likes Ryan Howard (he's got a career line of .356/.463/.600 against Pelfrey in 45 career AB), but he's been struggling so much this season that he's a risky...

You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.   Stack Targets   Seattle Mariners vs. Alfredo Simon (Reds) I personally stack against Alfredo Simon every time he pitches, so I really like the Mariners matchup today. The guy is basically out there throwing batting practice, as evidenced by the fact that he's allowing lefties to hit .400/.455/.750 and righties to hit .337/.433/.524 against him. Those numbers are bad, but it gets even worse as he's got an ERA of over 10 (seriously, how is this guy still in the big leagues?) and an xFIP of 5.24. The Mariners are a team that crush right-handed pitching, and they have plenty of lefties for you to stack against Simon. Our projection system really likes Robinson Cano, Kyle Seager, Adam Lind, and Seth Smith today, although I can also see taking Nelson Cruz here over Lind if you can afford it. Simon has already given up 9 HR's this season, and because Great American Ballpark is one of the best home run parks in baseball I'm expecting big things from Seattle today. Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colin Rea (Padres) I don't...

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitcher Breakdown FanDuel and DraftKings- 5/22/16 Welcome to our new daily article breaking down some of the other pitching targets on this slate. Pitching Targets We already covered Kenta Maeda and Noah Syndergaard in our main picks article.  If you want breakdowns on those guy head over there. Jordan Zimmermann FD 9700 DK 10000 Opponent - TB (Archer) Park - @DETFD - 32.38 DK - 17.2 From a matchup standpoint it's not great that he's facing off with Chris Archer, but outside of that this is a wonderful spot for Zimmerman. The Rays strikeout at the 3rd highest rate in the league against right-handed pitchers this season, so although Zimmerman doesn't possess that electric strikeout punch, his numbers should be helped quite a bit by the Rays tendency to swing at bad pitches. When they do make contact, the Rays have actually been even worse, ranking dead last on BABIP (Batting average on balls in play if you're new here) which plays pretty nicely into the hands of a pitch to contact type of guy like Zimmerman. Throw in the fact that the Tigers are at home and Archer has had his struggles on the road this year and I think that Zimmerman could be a sneaky good option today (although I like Syndergaard and Maeda much more). Cole Hamels FD 10200 DK 12200 Opponent - HOU (Keuchel) Park - @HOUFD - 31.11 DK - 16.46 I learned my lesson yesterday that Houston just isn't the same team offensively that they were a year ago, so I actually like Cole Hamels today (even though he's a bit pricey on both sites) and here's why. Houston as a team has really struggled offensively this season, particularly against left-handed...

Pitching Targets We already covered Jacob deGrom, Jon Niese and Jose Fernandez in our main picks article.  If you want breakdowns on those guy head over there. Early & Afternoon Slate J.A. Happ FD 8400 DK 8100 Opponent - MIN (Dean) Park - @MINFD - 32.91 DK - 17.57 Personally I think the early only slate is kinda gross and is extremely thin on pitching, but if that's your sort of thing then I would strongly recommend rolling with J.A. Happ. Happ isn't exactly what you'd call a big league ace, but he doesn't walk many guys and he strikes out enough hitters to be considered a viable fantasy option. The real value here comes with the matchup as the Twins have just been horrendous against left-handed pitching on the season. The Twinkies rank 8th in the league in strikeout % against southpaws (24.5%) and 29th in both OPS and wOBA. Combine that with the fact that Happ will be up against a guy making his first big league start and you've got yourself one of the best pitching options on the early slate that will probably get overlooked. Drew Smyly FD 9300 DK 10700 Opponent - DET (Fulmer) Park - @DETFD - 35.17 DK - 19.49 Another southpaw option that is pitching in the afternoon that is slightly more expensive than Happ is Drew Smyly, who is up against the Tigers @ Comerica Park today. The Tigers have been pretty pathetic versus left-handed pitching this season, ranking 27th in wOBA, OPS, and wRC+ against that particular split. In addition, the Tigers strikeout 21.6%...

You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.   Stack Targets   Early Slate Toronto Blue Jays vs. Pat Dean(Twins) If you're looking for some serious firepower then this is the stack for you. The Blue Jays rank 8th in the league in home runs hit off of left-handed pitchers, and they've got plenty of guys who know how to crush bad pitching. Speaking of bad pitching, let's take a look at Pat Dean, who will be making his first big league start this afternoon. Although he's got a K/9 of 7.88 right now, prior to being called up to the majors he didn't have a K/9 much above 5 since he was in single A all the way back in 2011. This is big for the Blue Jays, who have a tendency to strikeout at a rate above the league average. For this particular stack I like the usual suspects in Josh Donaldson, Troy Tulowitzki, and Jose Bautista, and these three guys can be paired with either Justin Smoak or Russell Martin (depending on who's hitting in a more advantageous lineup spot, although I tend to lean...
