We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Clayton Kershaw FD 12300 DK 14200 Opponent - SD (Richard) Park - @LAD FD - 42.15 DK - 27.71 I had written up my pitchers with the theme of cheap arms, since the highest priced pitcher on FanDuel was less than 10K, and the ones on DraftKings that were over 10K weren't necessarily worth paying up for, then the Dodgers went and swapped Kershaw and Brandon McCarthy in the rotation. We had originally targeted McCarthy as the third pitcher for today in a good spot against the Padres, so that speaks volumes to just how good a play Kershaw is. Kershaw is basically a must play in cash games every time he steps to the rubber, today however it's amplified by how tremendously bad the Padres are at the plate. The Padres have the third worst team wOBA in baseball (.287) and the third highest K% at 24.5%. As if that's not bad enough the numbers get even worse when you consider the split, against southpaws the Padres have a collective wOBA of .256 with a .118 ISO. They strikeout slightly less against lefties, but that's insignifcant in the grand scheme of things. This is Kershaw against the Padres. That's all that really needs be said. Jake Odorizzi FD 7500 DK 7900 Opponent - TOR (Estrada) Park - @TBFD - 32.37 DK - 21.3 From a points per dollar perspective, Jake Odorizzi comes in our projection system head and shoulders above the rest. Odorizzi comes into today with a 1-1 record, recently returned from a left hamstring strain with a career 3.74 ERA, .276 BABIP striking out 8.22 batters per nine and will take the hill against the Blue Jays. Here we are, a month in to the season, and still waiting to see if the Jays can break out of their funk and play some winning basball. They carry the second worst team wOBA in the American League (.294) which dips to .287 against right handed arms and strike out 22.6% of the time. Odorizzi has had some trouble with the long ball early on, allowing 2 HR/9 but against Toronto, I'm not too worried. This game falls in the three game early slate and I'll have a ton of Odorizzi in...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher Early Max Scherzer FD 11400 DK 12600 Opponent - ARI (Shipley) Park - @WSH FD - 44.48 DK - 29.34 When Scherzer is on the mound, you can expect him to be right at the top of this article. While Clayton Kershaw is in his own tier, Scherzer may be at the head of 1A right next to Chris Sale. In 2016, he held hitters to a combined .261 wOBA and absolutely shut down righties. He also held an elite K/9 of 11.19, which was backed up by a phenomenal 15.3% SwStrk rate. He has one of the best match-ups in baseball, that actually goes very under-looked. The Diamondbacks on the road against righties are bad. They ranked 2nd to last in terms of wOBA in 2016 and made no significant changes to the lineup. They get a lot of the offensive production from the friendly confines of Chase Field and struggle to drive the ball when they get to places like Nationals Park. Scherzer does a really good job against righties (.206 wOBA) and considering 3 of the D-Backs top 4 bats are right-handed, I like his chances. Towards the bottom of the order, you will see guys like Nick Ahmed, Daniel Descalso, and Chris Iannetta. He's very safe tonight and there is no other pitcher you can say that about. His price is high, though this is a slate where you can definitely make it work. Scherzer will be very highly-owned and rightfully so. In cash games, don't get too cute. Kyle Freeland FD 7200 DK 7400 Opponent - SD (Perdomo) Park - @SD FD - 26.71 DK - 17.66 On this early slate, you don't have much to like after Scherzer. On DraftKings, you have to play 2 pitchers. Freeland gets the honor of taking on the Padres and as a lefty, you have to love the match-up. The Padres ranked dead last against lefties in 2016 and lost their 2nd best bat in Matt Kemp. They struck out at a 23% clip and in Petco Park, held an 86 wRC+. While we don't have too many MLB numbers on Kyle Freeland, he's been very good so far. In 27 innings, he's held a .311 combined wOBA and a...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher Jacob deGrom FD 10600 DK 10400 Opponent - ATL (Colon) Park - @ATL FD - 35.89 DK - 23.6 Although we have a 15-game full slate on our hands, the pitching is not great. Looking towards the bottom of the pricing, we don't have much. Antonio Senzatela does have some upside but is a young guy that can be wild at times. Luckily, we have a few solid options towards the top. Jacob DeGrom and the Mets will face-off with the Braves in an attempt to take the series. While the Braves have been hitting somewhat well to start the season, they are obviously one of the bottom offenses in the league. They sported a league 5th-worst .308 wOBA that was backed up by a 20% K rate and .137 ISO in 2016. Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp are both dangerous but also strikeout a lot. Outside of those guys, there isn't much power and surely is a lot of strikeouts. Adonis Garcia, Tyler Flowers, and Brandon Phillips all hold 23%+ K rates and have wOBA's under .310 against righties. DeGrom, while usually not, has been one of the best arms in baseball when healthy. In his short 2016 stint, he sported a .248 wOBA and a 12 K/9. Without much pitching on this slate, you can go ahead and pay up for DeGrom in all formats. He's affordable on both sites and will be the highest owned pitcher on the slate. The match-up is safe and DeGrom has a built-in strikeout floor. Jake Arrieta FD 10100 DK 10900 Opponent - PHI (Eickhoff) Park - @CHC FD - 36.87 DK - 24.1 If you want to look at Arrieta through 19 innings and conclude that he's now a bad pitcher, by all means, go pick up my cash games. His peripherals are the exact same as last year and the only difference is the .380 BABIP, which has inflated his wOBA. He has held his high K rate and has simply run into bad luck to begin the year. The numbers will start to even out as the season progresses and fortunately, he matches up at home with a bottom-tier offense tonight. While the Phillies, like the Braves, often find a way...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher Clayton Kershaw FD 12600 DK 13900 Opponent - SF (Cueto) Park - @LAD FD - 46.35 DK - 30.63 Ah, you gotta love when Clayton Kershaw is on the hill. He's by far the best pitcher in baseball and gets a match-up here that he has always dominated in. He faced these Giants just a week ago, going 7 innings, striking out 7 and getting the win. This Giants lineup is a really great one for Kershaw, as it relies on lefties for production. Kershaw has sported a .137 wOBA dating back to 2016 and strikes them out an 11.51 /9 clip. The likes of Brandon Belt, Joe Panik, etc. are all in a very bad spot. That's not to say the righties are in some kind of good spot. They're still facing a guy who allowed a .227 wOBA to righties in 2016, the best in the majors. Dodgers Stadium is a solid piptchers ballpark and Kershaw has pitched better there over his entire career. His price is high, though it has come down a little bit since his last start. He remains an elite cash game option and the top point projected play of the day. Without any expensive offenses I need to pay up for, Kershaw will be a mainstay in my cash lineup. Luis Severino FD 8500 DK 8000 Opponent - TOR (Estrada) Park - @NYY FD - 34.64 DK - 22.71 Luis Severino is a very good pitcher. While he has shown flashes of his upside, he hasn't been able to piece it all together. In 2015 and '16, he sported a 2.5 BB/9. He also just got hit a little bit. His fastball was down in velocity and he wasn't throwing his change-up as much. So far this season, you can throw that out of the window. While he may not be as good as his box scores may suggest, this is a pitcher with 12K upside every time he takes the mound. He has taken the cutter out of his arsenal and has held batters under a .100 wOBA with both his change-up and slider. He faces off with the Blue Jays tonight, who exaggerate all aspects of Severino. They strikeout a lot and have...

We've got you completely covered. Cleveland Indians The tribe have split their first two games this weekend with the Mariners, just edging past them 4-3 last night. They go for the series win today against rookie Chase De Jong. De Jong was called up when King Felix found himself on the DL and will make his first big league start today. in 4.2 innings out of the bullpen He's allowed 3 runs off of 3 hits and 3 walks, all three runs coming off a George Springer blast. His numbers in the minors don't suggest Seattle should expect much out of him against a team like Cleveland. Last season he had a 3.68 FIP in 25 AA starts, and was up to 5.58 in two AAA starts this season, with less than impressive strikeout rates. Vegas projects the Indians bats for the highest run total of the day and I'd put the top two thirds of their lineup (Carlos Santana, Francisco Lindor, Michael Brantley, Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Ramirez, and Jason Kipnis) clearly in play today. Cleveland is sporting a .326 team wOBA, with a .331 OBP. They've gone long 28 times this season and are walking 10.3% of the time. St Louis Cardinals The Cardinals and Reds had the second game of the series postponed yesterday due to weather. Light rain is still in the forecast for today, but you have to think with the early start they're going to do all they can to get today's match in. The Cards won the game Friday night, and will look to close out with another win today against Bronson Arroyo. The 40 year old is 2-2 through his first two starts to the season, allowing 13 runs over his first two starts, and 5 runs over his second two. I suspect the true Arroyo lies somewhere in between. St. Louis rocked him in his 2017 debut for 6 runs, chasing him out after just 4 innings. They'll come at him hard today from the right side of the plate where he's allowing a .451 wOBA to start off the season, which they'll exploit with their...
