Pitcher EARLY Stephen Strasburg FD 10800 DK 12500 Opponent - ATL (Teheran) Park - @WSHFD - 37.18 DK - 24.58 The Nationals play host to the Braves once again in D.C. this afternoon. Washington is the only team in baseball that can lay claim to two arms that are not only among the top 15 qualified pitchers in xFIP as we approach the All Star break, but also rank among the top 10 in strikeouts per 9 innings pitched. First is Mad Max who threw last night, the other is our top choice for the early slate today, Stephen Strasburg. In addition to a 3.42 xFIP and 10.5 K/9 Stras is sporting a 3.28 ERA, walking just over 2.5/9 and allowing only .9 HR/9, not too shabby. Stras was rolling through offenses this season when he seemed to hit a bit of a speed bump early on in June, with a couple of less than stellar performances, but seems to have tuned a corner, putting up consecutive quality starts against the Cubs and Mets in his last two outings allowing 2 runs and striking out 19 in 14 innings of work. Once you get past the Nationals in the NL East, you have a bunch of teams just fighting for mediocrity. Currently leading that bunch are the Braves, who sport a .311 wOBA as a team against right handed pitching, among the worst in baseball. The Braves only strike out 19.6% of the time, but their impatience is spotlighted by their 7.3 BB% so as long as stras comes out firing he should have little trouble making them jumpy. I love Stras in cash games, and the fact that some may still be put off by the struggles a few starts back leads me think he could fly under the radar in tournaments as well. LATE Jeff Samardzija FD 9000 DK 9400 Opponent - MIA (Locke) Park - @SFFD - 36.06 DK - 23.83 On the late slate, we have some decisions to make as there is no stand out stud throwing. With the options given, the Shark comes in as the top raw projected point total play on the slate, and among the top point per dollar plays as well. Jeff Samardzija has...

We've got you completely covered. Houston Astros We once looked at Francisco Liriano as a strong GPP pitcher that can go out and blow up any game. he was known to put up 50 FDP one start and give up 8 runs the next. He's now a bit more leaning to the ladder on a consistent basis. Liriano has allowed a .370 wOBA to righties, worst of his career. He is struggling to strike out righties and is allowing a .420 wOBA on the first 2 pitches. Liriano is basically done at this point and unless he somehow changes his approach in the offseason, this could be one of his last seasons. He gets one of the toughest match-ups possible, if not the toughest for lefties. Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa have both sported +.400 wOBA's against lefties and are absolute musts if you're stacking the Astros. Evan Gattis fills one of the rougher positions and is in the 4 hole, so I won't leave him off either. The rest of the order is dynamite and not very concentrated, so feel free to go anywhere. If I had to choose a number 4, I'll go with George Springer in the leadoff spot. The Astros are expensive and I think Liriano has a decent reputation around him, so they could go under-owned. If the Astros are under 20%, it's a steal. Main Stack - Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, George Springer, Evan Gattis Sneaky Stack - Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Carlos Beltran, Marwin Gonzalez Seattle Mariners The Mariners currently hold the highest implied team total on this main slate, so we certainly can't just ignore them. Sitting at 5.62 runs, Vegas expects Paul Blackburn to have a lot of trouble here. It does make sense, even though Blackburn has some nice looking surface stats. He's struggled to strike out 6 batters per 9 innings in the minors and when you bring those type os numbers to the majors, you get results like Ty Blach. It's not sustainable and MLB hitters are going to eventually find holes. This Mariners team is extremely lethal, even at Safeco Field....

We've got you completely covered.   Pitchers Gio Gonzalez FD 9100 DK 11300 Opponent - ATL (Foltynewicz) Park - @WSHFD - 32.23 DK - 21.21 We looked at Chris Sale and Robbie Ray in the main picks article. They're still the 2 best options and will be in the majority of my cash games and tournaments. We'll now look at 2 other guys who are actually somewhat viable in tournaments, but are also a bit riskier. Gio Gonzalez, by nature, comes with risk. Even in games he ends up dominating, Gonzalez will find a way to work a huge pitch count and will often find himself in trouble multiple time each game, just to work himself out of it. He does see the Braves tonight, however, so I'm not too sure how much damage they will even be able to do. Freddie Freeman is back, but he's worse against lefties and Gio has been dominant against them. He's held lefties to a .218 wOBA and is striking out about 1 per innings. He has been slightly worse against righties with a .311 wOBA, but has maintained an even K and walk rate to that against lefties. The Braves are also moving into Nationals Park, which is a big hitting downgrade from SunTrust Park in Atlanta. Personally, Gio is going to be an SP2 in GPP's on DK. However, if you want to get a little crazy on FD, I don't hate it. he's a bit cheaper there and if the other 2 guys do struggle, he could end up with a very solid performance that leads you to the top. Josh Tomlin FD 7400 DK 6400 Opponent - SD (Lamet) Park - @CLEFD - 28.61 DK - 18.91 It's basically just whoever the Padres are facing out of this rotation. They can all get it done and Bauer was pretty solid last night, getting touched up for just 2 runs and striking out a ton. We now see Josh Tomlin, who is a bit more of a mystery. His numbers have been horrible on the surface this season, but a .360 BABIP suggests it should all...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher Chris Sale FD 11800 DK 13300 Opponent - TB (Faria) Park - @TB FD - 48.55 DK - 32.15 We have a pretty interesting 7-game main slate on our hands tonight. We do have a short 4-gamer in the afternoon and a weird 6 P.M. game that has been completely ignored. As for our main slate, the pitching options are somewhat limited, naturally. With that being said, our limited options are very, very nice. We'll start with Chris Sale, who goes on the road to face the Rays in Tropicana Field. I'd rather see Sale on the road, especially in Tampa where the park is much better for pitching. The Rays also stink, so that's always nice. They've held a below-average .305 wOBA against lefties, but strikeout at an astronomical 26.5% rate, which is below just 1 team in the Texas Rangers. The Rays biggest bats are lefties and when facing a guy like Sale, they often rely on power bats like Steven Souza or Trevor Plouffe to get things done, which as you'd expect, doesn't work out. Sale, though it goes unsaid, is one of the 3 best DFS pitchers in the league (Scherzer, Kershaw). He's striking out a ridiculous 12.3 batters per 9 innings and ha somehow not been ban anywhere. He's actually been worse (LOL) against lefties this year with a .243 wOBA, which more so speaks to his overall dominance. This is one of his best match-ups so far and I personally don't see myself going elsewhere in cash games. There is no 1 team you must pay up for and I'm willing to prioritize Sale over the field. Robbie Ray FD 9400 DK 10500 Opponent - LAD (Hill) Park - @LAD FD - 34.61 DK - 22.99 If you want to fade Chris Sale (why?) or if you're playing on a site like DK that forces you to roster 2 pitchers, Robbie Ray deserves a lot of attention. I will say, it's very rare that an underdog will be one of the top pitchers of the night. Rich Hill is on the other side and the D-Backs is projected to struggle. While that does hurt Ray for cash games, it may draw his ownership down in tournaments....

We've got you completely covered.   Cleveland Indians This game between the Indians and Rockies held a 10 over/under last night. As of now, it's down to 9. While that would typically suggest staying away from both offenses, this line movement actually just speaks to Trevor Bauer and his legitimacy as a value option tonight. The Indians are still projected to put up 5.62 runs and remain one of the 2 best tournaments stacks on the slate. They face off with Luis Perdomo, who struggles against both righties and lefties. While he has been much worse against lefties this season with a .380 wOBA, a .355 wOBA in 2016 against righties is nearly as bad. He moves from Petco Park to Progressive Field, which is a big bump for hitting. One of the only problems with the Indians is they actually have too many good hitters. It's only a negative in DFS because you're limited to 4 or 5 bats and will have to ignore a very good bat. First things first, you'll have to choose between Encarnacion and Santana. They are both great options and I have no favorite. Second, you run into Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley. They are both extremely elite against righties and aren't guys I would leave off a stack. Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez are the 2 other guys you're going to have to choose from. Personally, I'll take Ramirez, but I couldn't blame anyone for going with Lindor in the 2 hole. Main Stack - Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana, Michael Brantley, Jose Ramirez Sneaky Stack - Jason Kipnis, Francisco Lindor, Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Ramirez Minnesota Twins I could of went with the Rockies or Reds here, but I don't need to tell you to play an offense in Coors Field. Instead, we'll take a look at the Minnesota Twins. The Twins are facing off with the possible worst pitcher on the slate, Parker Bridwell. Bridwell has been absolutely horrible so far and while he hasn't pitched enough to completely judge him, his minor league numbers haven't suggested anything different would happen. He has sported a 4.00+ xFIP...
