Pitcher Gerrit Cole FD 9600 DK 11000 Opponent - SD (Lamet) Park - @PITFD - 37.1 DK - 24.38 This is one of those days where the question of sacrificing bats to pay up for pitching isn't weighed upon as heavily, as we don't have a plethora of aces toeing the rubber to consider, and the pitchers we do have to work with are a little more reasonably priced. Even with that however, we do have some good arms in favorable spots to consider. On the main slate, Gerrit Cole is the pay up pick on both sites and yet, he isn't even a 10K player on FanDuel. Even with his 11K price tag on DraftKings, there are plenty of mid tier SP2 options to balance out the cost. Since being beat up on for his first two starts of June against the Mets and Marlins for seven runs apiece, Cole has settled into a nice little groove down the stretch. Through his last nine starts, Cole has lasted six to seven innings, allowing one to two runs per game if we ignore the seven runs he surrendered to the Giants on June thirtieth in 5.1 IP. Today he has so much in his favor to lead us to expect he should continue his recent dominance. He will be facing the Padres who have the second worst wOBA against right handed pitching this season, and strikeout 25.3% of the time against righties. Just last Sunday in PetCo Park, Cole held the Padres to just one run on five hits with two free passes while fanning eight batters in a seven inning performance. He picked up the quality start and the win. Today the scene is PNC Park which ranks right up there with PetCo in terms of pitcher friendliness. I expect Cole to continue bringing the heat today in the rematch on his home turf. Drew Pomeranz FD 8600 DK 9000 Opponent - CHW (Shields) Park - @BOSFD - 35.24 DK - 23.17 Skipping down to the next tier we find Red Sox southpaw Drew Pomeranz in the battle of the footwear. The Red Sox are about the surest thing you'll find today as they stand out as huge early favorites from Vegas with...

Pitcher James Paxton FD 10100 DK 12200 Opponent - KC (Hammel) Park - @KC FD - 33.58 DK - 22.18 There are more than enough pitching options tonight, so it'll be interesting to see where the ownership comes in. James Paxton and the Mariners travel to Kansas City to face off with the Royals in Kauffman Stadium. Paxton has been absolutely dominant all season long and July was his best month. Paton is striking out 10.5 batters per 9 innings and walking just 2.5. He has also held a .190 wOBA against lefties and a .290 against righties, so nobody beats him up. This entire Royals team is very underwhelming and while they can occasionally scratch some runs together, it doesn't make them a strong offense. The Royals have ranked 22nd in baseball against lefties with a .307 wOBA and 19% K rate. They will have trouble doing anything to Paxton and his dynamic 4-pitch arsenal. Lorenzo Cain is the only guy I'm scared of and he's nowhere near as dangerous as some other bats in this league against lefties. If you're not a fan of Paxton, deGrom, Bumgarner, and Darvish are all worthy of consideration. None of these guys will be too highly owned, either, so you can go with who you really like and not let numbers cloud your judgment. Jacob Faria FD 8100 DK 8500 Opponent - MIL (Davies) Park - @TB FD - 36.97 DK - 24.43 If you're looking to pay down a bit, you have to have some interest in Jacob Faria. He's one of the best young starters in baseball, who has made a name for himself during this season. HE's dominated both sides of the plate and has limited big innings very well. In just 60 innings of work, Faria has sported a .,273 combined wOBA and is striking out batters at an 8.51 /9 rate. Faria and the Rays will host the Brewers tonight, who are far from a scary offense. Against righties, the Brew Crew have sported .317 wOBA and strikeout at a league-high 25.4%. Eric Thames, Ryan Braun, and Travish Shaw are the 3 guys who can do damage, though they strikeout a ton and can go 0-for-4 with ease. Faria is...

We've got you completely covered. Los Angeles Dodgers Julio Teheran is always one of my favorite pitchers to target. Even though he's not one of the worst pitchers on the slate, you know exactly what to expect. Since the beginning of time, Teheran has dominated righties and been horrible against lefties. He's made absolutely no improvement and has shown no signs of it either. He's given up a .344 wOBA so far this year and with a .243 BABIP, it's only going to go way up. The Dodgers are obviously one of the best teams in the league and you can argue they are the best team against righties. Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger are 2 of my favorite plays on the entire slate and must plays if you're stacking the Dodgers. Joc Pederson and Justin Turner are next, with Grandal a close 5th. He's at a weaker position and has a ton of HR potential. This game will also take place in SunTrust Park, where the ball has flown for lefties. The Dodgers won't be overly owned and I love the upside they have in this match-up. Main Stack - Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, Joc Pederson Sneaky Stack - Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, Chris Taylor, Logan Forsythe Pittsburgh Pirates You're guess is as good as mine as to why Robert Stephenson still has a job. I'm not saying he's hopeless, but he's certainly nowhere near ready. He needs to go back down to AA and work on striking out more guys than he walks. Over the last 2 years, he's given up a .400 wOBA against both sides of the plate. He's truly just a bad pitcher and you have to like this Pirates team, who has been swinging the bat well. Marte and McCutchen are always going to be th top 2 options on this team and the upside is limitless with both. Francisco Cervelli may be my 2nd favorite, as he destroys righties and will be very contrarian. Adam Frazier and Josh Bell are both good against righties and should come in between 10-15% owned. This slate has...

We've got you completely covered. Pitchers Masahiro Tanaka FD 9400 DK 9200 Opponent - DET (Zimmermann) Park - @NYY FD - 33.56 DK - 22.08 We touched on both Arrieta and Keuchel in the main picks article and they remain the top overall pitchers of the main slate. If you're playing the early slate, Masahiro Tanaka better be on your board. Out of the 3 early games, the Rays are the only team with an implied team total under 4. We know how bad the Tigers can be against righties and Vegas expects them to struggle in this one. They've ranked 21st in baseball with a .317 team wOBA and 22% strikeout rate. They also hit worse on the road and while Yankee Stadium is a bit friendlier for hitting, that's only for lefties. RIghties have to hit the ball far ways in Yankee Stadium and I don't know if I see more than 1 o 2 of them taking advantage. Of course, the likes of Evan Longoria and Logan Morrison can do damage. I'm just not scared of the rest of the order that's filled with guys who can't hit. Tanaka has had a really weird year and he's gone through constant changes to his game. He was atrocious for much of the year, before dominating for a few stars. He's the real deal and it does look like he's starting to figure things out. If you're on the early slate, you don't have much of a choice. J.C. Ramirez FD 7600 DK 7200 Opponent - PHI (Thompson) Park - @LAA FD - 30.38 DK - 19.99 J.C. Ramirez is exactly who his stats say. There is no hiding. Against lefties, he is absolutely horrible. There's no way around it. Against righties, he's just as dominant. His slider is the biggest reason why. Against righties, Ramirez has held an elite .290 wOBA and 9 K/9. Against lefties, it's a whole other story with a .374 wOBA. SO why are we looking at him here? The match-up. The Phillies will only be able to stuff 3 or 4 lefties in the order and they will be not...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Dallas Keuchel FD 9600 DK 10500 Opponent - TB (Pruitt) Park - @HOU FD - 35.51 DK - 23.33 Keuchel finally had a bad start last time out, after dominating for months without a hiccup. He'll look to get back on track tonight and has a fantastic match-up to do so. The Rays will travel to Houston and face off with the 'Stros in neutral Minute Maid Park. Keuchel is a lot better at home with a .204 wOBA and 8.31 K/9. Keuchel has just obliterated lefties at a .122 wOBA clip. They might as well stay in the dugout. Righties on the other hand, have posted a .270, which is still very low. As a team, the Rays are absolutely pitiful against lefties. Not only do they strikeout at a league-high 25% rate, but they can't hit when they make contact either, as proven by a .307 wOBA. Keuchel is the most expensive option on the board and he's the safest. He could end up being very popular, but I think the ownership ends up getting spread out for the most part. Jake Arrieta FD 9400 DK 10300 Opponent - ARI (Godley) Park - @CHC FD - 34.14 DK - 22.42 In cash games, you need to pay up on this slate. There are no safe options down low and we do have the offenses to pay down with. Jake Arrieta may not be just as expensive as Keuchel, but the upside is identical. Arrieta has thrown no-hitters and struck out double digit batters multiple times. He's still a dominant arm that will mash weak competition. His numbers have dipped slightly against lefties with a .328 wOBA, though a .281 with a 9 K/9 more than makes up for it. The Cubs host the Diamondbacks in Wrigley, who are used to playing in the hitter-friendly Chase Field. They are much worse against righties and rely on the bats of David Peralta and Jake Lamb. Outside of those 2, everyone in the lineup is better against lefties. Arrieta will be less popular than Keuchel and I see them as very similar situations. He's a bit cheaper as well and could open up another bat along the way. Catcher Brian McCann FD 2800...
