Toyota/Save Mart 350 Sonoma Raceway - Sonoma, CA Track - 1.99 Mile Road Course After an off-week for Father's Day, the Monster Energy Cup Series gets back on track for the first road course race of the season at Sonoma Raceway. The road courses are all unique in their own way with Sonoma tighter and more technical of the tracks. This year will also be different as Sonoma has brought back the "carousel" between turns three and seven for the first time since 1997 meaning no driver has raced this circuit in the Cup series. It adds a long sweeping left-hand turn into the drag strip straight away and adds another opportunity for passing going into Turn 7. It should make for some exciting racing for the fans and also add some strategy and setup issues for the race teams. Buckle up! Looking at the race from a fantasy perspective, finishing position is more important than ever with just 110 laps in the race. Only once in the last five races here at Sonoma has a driver led more than 50 laps and only twice in the last six races has there been more than two drivers to lead 20 or more laps. While you would think the correlation between starting and finishing position would be high on a track like this, it hasn't exactly been that way lately. We have seen sub .500 correlation here in two straight and three of the last four races here and five or fewer drivers starting Top 10 and finishing there in four of the last five races here. Let's take a look at some track and track type history with some form trends and then dig into the picks. FireKeepers Casino 400 Michigan International Speedway - Brooklyn, MI Track - 2 Mile D-Shaped Oval 18° of Banking This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway for the FireKeepers Casino 400 on Sunday afternoon. While last week was a tough race for passing with the new package, that is not expected to be the case at Michigan which has more banking and should lead to more drafting, big runs, passing, and lead changes. That is great news for Michigan fans as this track has provided one of the highest correlations between starting and finishing position in the sport. For fantasy, we have seen a driver lead 100 or more laps just twice in the last five races and expect that trend to continue with the new rules package that should lead to a lot of lead changes. We will have to confirm in the two Friday practices but I also think stacking teammates is fully in play here again this week with the drafting I think we see. Last Six Winners at Michigan Kevin Harvick(started 3rd, led 108 laps) Clint Bowyer(started 12th, led 8 laps) Kyle Larson(started 9th, led 2 laps) Kyle Larson(started 1st, led 96 laps) Kyle Larson(started 12th, led 41 laps) Joey Logano(started 1st, led 138 laps) Weekend Schedule Practice #1 - Friday @ 2:05 pm ET Practice #2 - Friday @ 4:05 pm ET Inspection - Saturday Pre-Qualifying Qualifying - Saturday @ 12:05 pm ET Race - Sunday @ 2:00 pm ET Track History at Michigan  If it's consistency you are after, look no further than Chase Elliott who returns to Michigan with a Top 10 finish in all six career races which includes three runner-up finishes. The only knock here is that he has not led a lap over the last four races here and is averaging just 43.4 DraftKings points per race(7th best) but on FanDuel he is averaging 55.3 points per race, second to only Kevin Harvick. Kyle Busch returns to Michigan with...

Daily Fantasy NASCAR Race Preview & Picks for DraftKings – Pocono 400

Pocono 400 Pocono Raceway - Long Pond, PA Track - 2.5 Mile Tri-Oval 14° of Banking in Turns 1 8° of Banking in Turn 2 6° of Banking in Turn 3 This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to one of the most unique tracks in NASCAR, Pocono Raceway. It is called the "Tricky Triangle" for a reason as it has just three corners and all three are different and present different challenges for crew and car chiefs to get the car setup. You either have to sacrifice handling in once corner to be good in the other two or go balanced between them. Rarely you will see a car set up perfectly for all three corners. For fantasy, these challenges combined with only 160 laps in the race really limits the dominator upside. Only twice has a driver led 100 or more laps in a Pocono race going all the way back to 2010(18 races). When it comes to track position and correlation from start to finish, last year was a bit of an anomaly(.227 correlation) as the average correlation has been .570 in the previous five race before that. The difference last year was that a lot of fast cars qualified outside the Top 20 and Top 30 starting positions. With the new single-car qualifying, I don't expect that to happen this time around. A reminder that both practice sessions are on Friday with Qualifying now on Saturday before the Xfinity race. It is an impound weekend but inspection is being done Saturday before qualifying so we don't have to wait until pre-race Sunday for the official starting lineup. Last Six Winners at Pocono Kyle Busch(started 28th, led 52 laps) Martin Truex Jr.(started 4th, led 31 laps) Kyle Busch(started 1st, led 74 laps) Ryan Blaney(started 4th, led 10 laps) Chris Buescher(started 22nd, led 12 laps) Kurt Busch(started 9th, led 32 laps) Weekend Schedule Practice #1 - Friday @ 2:05 pm ET Practice #2 - Friday @ 4:05 pm ET Qualifying -...

Daily Fantasy NASCAR Race Preview & Picks for DraftKings – Coca-Cola 600

Coca-Cola 600 Charlotte Motor Speedway - Concord, NC Track - 1.5 Mile Quad-Oval Intermediate 24° of Banking It was another exciting All-Star race last week that will probably be remembered more for the feud between Bowyer and Newman(mostly Bowyer punching Newman in the face while in his car) than the Kyle Larson win. The good news is that they made up and in classic Clint Bowyer fashion. This week the teams get back to the business at hand with one of the biggest and definitely the longest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600. The track is a mile and a half intermediate and up until last year hosted two races per season(playoff race uses the new road course). Teams will also be using the same 2019 rules package that was used at Kansas, Texas, and Las Vegas so I added that data(avg fin/avg DK/avg FD) to my sheet and will weigh it in my model this week. From a fantasy perspective, it has been mostly a one dominator race with just one driver leading 100+ laps in five of the last six races here. Adding to that, there has only been one race in the last six where more than two drivers led 50+ laps. We could see more of the same this week as, despite the new rules package, we have only seen only two drivers in each of the three races mentioned above(Kan, Tex, Veg) lead 50+ laps. With that said, there have also been at least seven drivers to lead 10+ in each of those races. Place differential has been all over the place with as low as one driver and as high as 16 drivers picking up double-digit PD points in those six races. Let's jump in and take a look at some track history, form, and get into the picks. Last Six Winners at Charlotte '18 Coca Cola 600 - Kyle Busch(started 1st, led 377 laps) '17 Playoffs - Martin Truex Jr.(started 17th, led 91 laps) '17 Coca Cola...

Digital Ally 400 Kansas Speedway - Kansas City, KS Track - 1.5 Mile D-Shaped Oval Intermediate 15° of Banking This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway for the Digital Ally 400 this Saturday night. After racing on four different track types(Dover, Talladega, Richmond, Bristol) the Cup series goes back to another Mile and Half track and one which has hosted two races per season since 2011. Not only will I be looking at track history and track type history this week, but I will also be looking back at the other races this season using the new 2019 rules package. For the most part, each week and track have been different setups but this will be the third race of the season with the full package(550 hp tapered spacer, rear spoiler, air ducts) so looking back at the Las Vegas and Texas races can definitely give us some info going into this weekends race. Looking at the past six races here(from my sheet), there has been just one driver in each race to lead 100 or more laps and no more than four to lead 20 or more laps. I believe this will change this time around as we two drivers lead 86 and 88 laps in Vegas with five drivers leading 15 or more laps. In Texas, we saw two seven drivers lead 15+, six drivers lead 20+, and two drivers lead 50+ with no driver once again leading 100 laps. With all that said, let's take a look at some track history, track type history, current form and then dig into the picks. Last Six Winners at Kansas Chase Elliott(started 13th, led 44 laps) Kevin Harvick(started 1st, led 79 laps) Martin Truex Jr.(started 1st, led 91 laps) Martin Truex Jr.(started 3rd, led 104 laps) Kevin Harvick(started 11th, led 74 laps) Kyle Busch(started 6th, led 69 laps) Track History at Kansas No driver has been better at Kansas over the last two years than Martin Truex Jr. who...
