STP 500 Martinsville Speedway - Ridgeway, VA Track - .526 Mile Short Track The Kevin Harvick win streak came to an end early in the race last week as he was pressing hard in Stage 1 and an attempt to side draft off Kyle Larson ended up with the #4 car in the wall. He made repairs but it wasn't nearly enough as he finished the race nine laps behind. How big are the stages and new points system(2nd year) you ask? Harvick dropped from first in the standings going into Fontana to eighth after the race. You new leader is 2017 series champion, Martin Truex Jr, who dominated the race leading 125 laps and won by over 11 seconds. Some of the other stories from last week include Kyle Larson's two-mile track streak(four straight wins) come to an end although he did finish runner-up on Sunday. Daytona 500 winner, Austin Dillon, picked up Top 10 this week and seven-time champion, Jimmie Johson, finally picked up his first Top 10 of the season. Overall, it was another exciting race at Auto Club Speedway and if you missed it, check out the highlight below before we move on to this week's race. This week the Monster Energy Cup Series travels back East to Martinsville Speedway for the STP 500 this Sunday. It marks the first short track race of the season and no better place to start than the Paperclip in Martinsville. It produces some exciting bumping and banging style racing and with that comes a ton of cautions(double-digit cautions in nine of the last 11 races). If your drier's car makes it through the race without some scratches, dented metal, or other damage he just isn't trying hard enough to win here at Martinsville. One of the big storylines going into this race is the relationship between Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott after last fall's playoff race that ended up with Hamlin putting Chase into the wall, ending his shot at his first win and pretty much ending his playoff hopes. From a fantasy perspective, the race is 500...

Auto Club 400 Auto Club Speedway - Fontana, California Track - Two-Mile Intermediate It wasn't the same kind of dominance but Kevin Harvick still ended up in Victory lane last week in Phoenix. With that third win a row, he joined some elite company becoming just the 15th driver in NASCAR history to win three straight races. Names on this list include Bobby Allison(2), David Pearson(2), Richard Petty(2), Cale Yarborough, Harry Gant, Daryl Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt(twice in one season), Rusty Wallace(3), Bill Elliott, Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson(2), Jeff Gordon(3), Kyle Busch, and Joey Logano. He will now try to become a part of an even more elite group and become just the eighth in history to win four in a row as the Monster Energy Cup Series travels to Fontana, California and Auto Club Speedway for the Auto Club 400 this Sunday. For the third straight week, we have a different track as Auto Club Speedway is a two-mile D Shaped Oval. Like Phoenix, it is flat(14°) but double the length and it is a much wider track with multiple lanes that a driver can run. From a fantasy perspective, we can rely on a more balanced approach of dominator and place differential points than we did at Phoenix or the mile and a half tracks at Las Vegas or Atlanta. Only twice in the last six races have there been more than one driver to lead more than 50 laps. Last year was one of those years as Kyle Larson won from the pole and led 110 laps but on the other side, there have been six or more drivers to gain double-digit place differential in each of the last six races. As alsways, however, qualifying and practice will dictate just how much we can rely on place differential for value. Now let's take a look at some race trends and then dive into some pre-qualifying/practice targets. Last Six Winners at Auto Club Speedway Kyle Larson (started 1st, led 110 laps) Jimmie Johnson (started 19th, led 25 laps) Brad Keselowski (started 8th, led 1 lap) Kyle Busch...

TicketGuardian 500 ISM Raceway - Avondale, Arizona Track - One-Mile Intermediate It was another dominating performance from the #4 of Kevin Harvick last week in Las Vegas. He led 214 laps on his way to back to back wins and with those two wins and three stage wins, he now has 13 playoff points. To put that in perspective, Austin Dillon is second in that category with five playoff points and no other driver has two. It was also another week of struggles for the Chevy camp as only one(Kyle Larson #42) finished Top 10, however, Ryan Newman turned out to be a great value play finishing 11th after starting 25th. This week the Monster Energy Cup Series heads to ISM Raceway, formerly Phoenix Raceway. The track is currently under construction with a huge $178 Million dollar project underway, most notably adding grandstands around turn two where the drivers will notice the biggest change come fall. The start/finish line will be moved right in front of those new grandstands and the restart zone will be the first to be in a turn. It will definitely change the strategy for the playoff race here, adding to the many changes to this year's playoffs. From a fantasy perspective, picking out those one or two dominator drivers will be key as there has been at least one driver to lead 100 or more laps in each of the last six races with one driver leading 190 or more in three of those six races including last fall's race.  The fast laps have been much more spread out as at least seven drivers have tallied double-digit fast laps in each of the last five races. Place differential will always be something to focus on but is much more dependant on qualifying. There have been four or five drivers to gain double-digit place differential in five of the last six races. Let's now take a look at some of the trends going into this weeks race.   Last Six Winners at ISM Raceway(Phoenix) 2017 Fall - Matt Kenseth (started 7th, led 62 laps) 2017...
