This week the PGA Tour returns to ground zero, in a way, as the 2020 PLAYERS Championship was canceled after the first round when the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. In terms of golf, Hideki Matsuyama was rocked the most by the news as he opened the event with an incredible nine-under-par 63 and since the cancelation, has just two Top 10 finishes in his last 22 events. Can he re-create that magic again this week? A year later things are finally started to get back to normal for the PGA Tour as we have started to see fans trickle back into these events and it has sure provided a boost to some.....cough cough Bryson DeChambeau. If you missed it this past Saturday, here is a replay of the mammoth drive. As always, the field of 154 for this year's event is absolutely loaded with each of the Top 10 and 48 of the Top 50 golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings teeing it up this week. The host course is the iconic TPC Sawgrass, best known for the famous island-green, 17th hole but the classic Pete-Dye setup is also known as one of the toughest tests in golf. Off the tee, golfers see narrow driving areas with dangers everywhere between sand bunkers and water which is in play on 17 of 18 holes. Because of this, we will see a lot of "less than driver" gameplans in an attempt to find the fairway or at least positioning to have a shot at the smaller than average green complexes. When breaking down the ball Striking metric, I have Strokes...

The Florida swing continues this week as the PGA Tour visits Bay Hill Club & Lodge for the 2021 Arnold Palmer Invitational. We get another strong field led by Tyrrell Hatton(#6), Rory McIlroy(#8), and Patrick Reed(#9) who are all ranked inside the Top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings. Bay Hill is a course that will challenge the best golfers in world no matter the weather conditions. It has ranked inside the Top 15 hardest courses in terms of scoring average in each of the last four years and ranked #1 last year after four days of wind. It starts off the tee where we will see some "less than driver" gameplans with dangers in the form of water, well-placed bunkers in the 300-yard landing zone, and the need for positioning to have a clear shot at the greens on some of the dogleg holes. This has led to an average driving distance around 290 yards which then leads to a ton of long iron approach shots. This shows as over 29% of all approaches have come from the 200+ yard range(via FNGC). The event will also have a cut of Top 65 and ties after round two but despite that, I am heavily on stars and scrubs early in the week with so many values that stand out. Before getting into the picks, let's look at the course and the top stats in my model. The Course Bay Hill Club & Lodge Par 72 - 7,454 Yards Greens - Bermuda **Click the image above to see a hole by hole breakdown from PGATour.com** Previous Five Winners 2020 - Tyrrell Hatton(-4)...

Normally the PGA Tour would be heading South to Mexico for this World Golf Championship but once again COVID-19 has forced a schedule change. Instead, the Florida swing will start a week ahead of schedule with a newly sponsored WGC event, the Workday Championship. With any WGC event, the field is absolutely loaded with each of the Top 10 and 48 of the Top 50 players in the World teeing it up this week. The host course will be the Jack Nickalus-designed Concession Golf Club which is a par 72 that stretches over 7,400 yards and features Bermuda greens. We don't have much data to point us to how this will play out but just looking at the course overview on the PGA Tour website, it is easy to tell this will be a challenge for the golfers. It is a typical Florida course in that there is a ton of water in play(13 of 18 holes) and it is combined with a whopping 73 bunkers. It doesn't end there as the most unique and challenging part of the course(projecting) appears to be the greens. Overall, they are slightly smaller than average(6,000 sq ft) and very undulated with lots of run-off areas. It is going to take a complete game to contend here so from a fantasy perspective, I will be targeting players who are in form in almost all areas. Be sure to check out my top stats in my model below and then we will get into the picks. Also, remember this is a no-cut event and all players will get four rounds which can lead to a more stars...

A loaded field of 121 players led by World #1 Dustin Johnson will take on one of the toughest tests on the regular PGA rotation. Before getting into the picks, let's take a look at the course, the previous winners, and some of the key stats in my model this week. The Course Riviera Country Club Par 71 - 7,332 Yards Greens - Poa **Click the image above to see a hole by hole breakdown from PGATour.com** Previous Five Winners 2020 - Adam Scott(-11) 2019 - J.B. Holmes(-14) 2018 - Bubba Watson(-12) 2017 - Dustin Johnson(-17) 2016 - Bubba Watson(-15) Top Stats in the Model When breaking down the top stats I use a combination of my own cheatsheet and the tools over at FantasyNational.com. Strokes Gained: Ball Striking The fairways are narrow and the rough is not as penal (average 2" high) and with the course playing longer than listed(six Par 4's over 450 yards) I will be looking at Driving Distance more than anything when breaking down off the tee stats. I won't rule out a player who is shorter off the tee but they will need to check a lot more boxes to make my player pool this week. From a correlation standpoint, SG: Approach was nearly double as important in each of the last two years when the course played inside the Top 10 hardest courses. With Fantasy National, I also look at Opportunities Gained as they correlate very highly. With an average fairway's hit around 50-55% annually here combined with rough that...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – AT&T Pebble Beach

Brooks is back and closed out the Waste Management Phoenix Open in style chipping in for an eagle on Hole #17 just shortly after a three-birdie-streak on holes 13, 14, and 15. Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth held the lead going into Sunday but could not capitalize whatsoever which is a mistake when you have Brooks lurking on the leaderboard. If you missed it, check out his round 4 highlights below then we will get into this weeks preview. This week the Tour heads back to California for the AT&T Pebble Beach but this year's event, much like last week, will go ahead without the Pro-Am event. This also means a two-course instead of a three-course rotation with players getting one round on each of Pebble Beach GL and Spyglass Hill GC on Thursday and Friday. The Top 65 & ties who make the cut will then play the final two rounds on Pebble Beach only. With that, my full tourney stats model will be centered around Pebble Beach. With Dustin Johnson pulling out early in the week, we are left with a much weaker field than we have seen in the past with no players inside the Top 10 and only five inside the Top 50 in the World Golf Rankings will tee it up this week. From a stats model perspective, I am heavy on Strokes Gained: Approach and will be keying on Proximity as Pebble Beach has the smallest greens on Tour. This also means I will be weighing Strokes Gained: Around the Green as the GIR rate is lower than Tour average leading...
