AT&T Byron Nelson TPC Four Seasons Resort - Irving, Texas Par 70, 7166 Yards I am back for another week of DFS PGA action for the AT&T Byron Nelson. Before we get to this week though let's take a look back at last week. I didn't get a bunch of time to watch the Crowne Plaza Invitational this past weekend but definitely followed closely on Twitter and the PGA Tour App. Chris Kirk captured the title with a -12 and great weekend of golf shooting 65/66. He edged out two of my other picks from last week, Spieth & Bohn. There were a few others lurking on Sunday including Snedeker, Perez, Hadwin, Poulter, Mcneil, and even my value pick Jerry Kelly. All in all it was an exciting Sunday for the PGA. I cashed 2 of my 6 lineups in GPP tournies this weekend with my balanced approach doing the best by far. Of my 11 picks last week, 10 made the cut(Peterson Withdrew on the weekend), 7 finished inside the Top 25, 5 had Top 10's, 2 T2's, and a win. Overall it was a very successful week and also a very successful two weeks now hitting 17/19 players making the cut. I will be looking to keep the good picks going for you all this week at the Byron Nelson. This week the players head to Irving, Texas for the AT&T Byron Nelson. If there were ever a week to take off, whether a player or DFSer, this would be the week. Voted by the players as one of the worst tournaments on tour. The field is usually lacking top talent and this could be for a few reasons. It falls between the majors and is during a busy time in the season so many players take this week off. Also, the course itself isn't anything too exciting for the players. It is a Par 70, 7166 Yard test. A shorter course with plenty of bunkers, narrow fairways, and large undulating greens. This course has been used for this event since 1986 but the course was re-designed in 2007 so course history will only be relevant from that point forward. When analyzing past winners and players who have done well here, you will notice a mix of long hitters and accuracy guys. It was very hard to find stats for this week that correlated between players who were...
Draftkings Daily Fantasy PGA Picks – Crowne Plaza Invitational
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks Crowne Plaza Invitational DFSR is proud to bring you our newest contributor Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings. If you are new to DraftKings PGA DFS be sure to click on the banner below. Crowne Plaza Invitational Colonial Country Club - Fort Worth, Texas Par 70, 7204 Yards Very interesting week at the Wells Fargo Championship this past week. I was able to get 7 of my 8 picks through to the weekend and if not for Kokrak bogeying the 35th & 36th hole, I would have been 8/8. Mind you, Kokrak probably didn't deserve to make the cut anyway after his 6 Bogeys in the opening round to go with only 1 Birdie. Either way, it was a successful week beyond the fact that my Rory fade blew up in my face. When fading a player priced so much more than everyone else you pretty much just need that player to not win by multiple strokes. I thought it was going good through 2 days then Saturday arrived and he shot a course record 61. He is the world #1 for a reason I guess. It is eerily similar to when Tiger was dominating. When they are at the top of their game they are just a bit better than everyone else's best. Luckily, Rory isn't playing this week so no need to worry about fading him. We move on to next week. The 125 invited players head to Texas this week for the second last tournament in the state. The Crowne Plaza Invitational has been played at Colonial Country Club since 1946 and is the longest running event(non major)played at the same site on Tour. It has seen some pretty prestigious winners such as Ben Hogan 3 times, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Ben Crenshaw, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Phil Mickelson. The course, with its narrow fairways and strategic placement of bunkers, requires an accurate player who can hit higher than average fairways in regulation and greens in regulation. When looking at past leaderboards it looks like Driving Distance isn't really a part of the game that is required to contend here. The greens are smaller than average so I will not only be looking at GIR but also Proximity to the hole and Strokes Gained: Putting. Also, with the course being a Par 70 and only having 3 Par 5's I will be looking at Par 3 and Par 4 Scoring Average. I will be mostly concentrating on Par 4's as there are 12 on the course and they can definitely be challenging. The early forecast is showing chance...
Draftkings Daily Fantasy PGA Picks – The Players Championship
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks The Players Championship DFSR is proud to bring you our newest contributor Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings. If you are new to DraftKings PGA DFS be sure to click on the banner below. The Players Championship TPC Sawgrass - Ponte Vedra Beach, FL Par 72, 7,215 Yards After a week off from stroke play events we are back at it with the PLAYERS Championship. Some refer to it as the the 5th major and it draws the best of the best on the PGA Tour as the field is jam packed with top 50 players in the world. The tournament takes place at TPC Sawgrass where it has been home to the PLAYERS since 1982. The winning score has been -13 the past 4 years so there is definitely scoring out there and also some opportunity for some bogey free rounds and birdie streaks which are needed for GPP success on Draftkings. Past performance here can definitely help identify guys who can manage the course well but more importantly I will be looking for guys with some good current form. This week I will be targeting All Around Ranking guys with some of the following stats. All Around Ranking Strokes Gained: Tee to Green Strokes Gained: Putting Ball Striking Scrambling Greens in Regulation Tier 1 Targets (DK Price $9000-Max) Rory Mcilroy - $13,200 (Vegas Odds – 8/1) I am going to start with Rory this week as he thrives in the biggest tournaments against the best in the world. He started the year slow but recently he is definitely in #1 in the world form with a win in last weekends Match Play Championship, 4th at the Masters, T11 at the Arnold Palmer, and T9 at the WGC-Cadillac. He finished T6 here last year and T8 the year and with his stats below he definitely checks all boxes. His confidence is high and you should consider making a few lineups with Rory at the top. All Around Ranking - 2 Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 19 Strokes Gained: Putting - 68 Ball Striking - 11 Scrambling - 182 Greens in Regulation - 41 Jason Day - $9900 (Vegas Odds – 26/1) Coming in under $10K seems like a bargain for the caliber of golfer Day is. He hasn't missed a cut this year and is coming off a 4th at the Zurich Classic with a -19. He has made 2/4 cuts here at TPC Sawgrass with a T19 and T6 in those cuts made. His stats in all 6 categories are Top 50 and 5/6 are Top 20. Insert him in your...
Daily Fantasy Golf – PGA Picks Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Daily Fantasy Golf - PGA Picks Zurich Classic of New Orleans DFSR is proud to bring you our newest contributor Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings. If you are new to DraftKings PGA DFS be sure to click on the banner below. Zurich Classic of New Orleans TPC Louisiana - Avondale, Louisiana Par 72, 7,425 Yards This week the players head to Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The course is rated as one of the easiest on tour and you need to go low to have a chance this week as the winning score is usually around -17 to -20. When looking at course history it is a real crap shoot as even players with good finishes have missed cuts mixed in. I am looking more this week at current form for those players who are peaking at the moment. As most of the scoring here is done through the Par 4's and 5's I will be looking at both together with the usual Strokes Gained stats and GIR. Now that we are well into the 2015 season I will be solely looking at 2015 stats. This week more than ever it seems like a time to really target GPP's as anyone can get hot for 4 days here. Good luck! Strokes Gained: Tee to Green Strokes Gained: Putting Greens in Regulation Par 4 Scoring Par 5 Scoring Tier 1 Targets (DK Price $9,000-Max) Dustin Johnson - $13,000 (Vegas Odds – 9/1) I don't mind one bit that his price is $13,000. When looking for a player in good form look no further than Johnson. Coming off a T6 at the Masters, T6 at Texas Open, and a Win at the Cadillac, Dustin's game is looking pretty good. If he can get a good tournament from the putter, another win is in store. Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 1st Strokes Gained: Putting - 139 Greens in Regulation - 132 Par 4 Scoring - 106 Par 5 Scoring - 3 Keegan Bradley - $10,500 (Vegas Odds – 21/1) When I look a little lower on the list I gravitate to Bradley. His form is good(T22,T5,T49,T38) and has only missed one cut in 2015. He finished T8 here last year and is a guy who can go low with the help of the long drive. I really like the fact he is around the top 60 in both Par 4 and 5 scoring. Strokes Gained: Tee to Green - 14 Strokes Gained: Putting - 125 Greens in Regulation - 90 Par 4 Scoring - 58 Par 5 Scoring - 64 Brendan Steele - $9,200 (Vegas Odds –...
PGA Daily Fantasy Picks RBC Heritage
PGA Daily Fantasy Picks RBC Heritage DFSR is proud to bring you our golf contributor Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings. If you are new to DraftKings PGA DFS be sure to click on the banner below. RBC Heritage Harbour Town Golf Links - Hilton Head, South Carolina Par 71, 7,101 Yards Well the Masters is now over and Jordan Spieth is now #2 in the world. Now comes the test of catching Rory. As for the Masters test, Spieth looked like he cheated off someone else's sheet(Tiger). He led the tournament wire to wire and if it wasn't for a missed putt on the 18th Sunday he would have broke the Masters scoring record. I don't remember such a dominating Masters performance since Woods himself. Ok, ok Spieth is amazing, time to move on. Didn't win the Million like I had planned this weekend but cashed 4/7 of my lineups. Time to get ready for the US Open in June and the next Millionaire Maker. I will be playing a lot more satellites each weekend leading up to the tournament to get more tickets at a cheaper cost. I will be aiming for about 20-40 tickets into the next Millionaire Maker this time and will get started this weekend at the RBC Heritage. The players leave Augusta and head to South Carolina and Harbour Town Golf Links for the RBC Heritage. The tournament has been played here since 1969. The course was designed by Pete Dye with help from Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. The course requires an accurate drive and approach as the fairways are narrow and the greens are small. With the small greens and lower than average GIR, I will also be targeting scrambling as a key stat. A look at the key stats I am targeting this week: Strokes Gained:Tee to Green Strokes Gained:Putting Driving Accuracy Greens in Regulation Scrambling Tier 1 Targets (DK Price $9,500-Max) Well, I actually thought Spieth would be a little more expensive this week. He is still $1,500 more than the next guy so I will be avoiding him for the most part. I just can't see how he will be able to concentrate on this tournament after winning the Masters, especially with all the media obligations and everyone wanting a piece of him. I will pivot off in Tier 1 to the following guys. Zach Johnson - $10,900 (Vegas Odds – 17/1) Johnson is the 3rd most expensive golfer this week. He comes into this week after a T9 at Augusta, T20 at Valero, and a T9 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He has done fairly well here...
