GOALIE Juuse Saros FD - $8100 DK - $8000 Opponent - SJ Proj Pts FD - 18.85 DK - 4.71 There are twice as many games as last night but the goaltender position is not any easier to navigate. The top goalies(Bobrovsky, Bishop) are struggling and the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Pekka Rinne, was pulled in his last start with an undisclosed injury and placed on injured reserve. Filling in for him will be Juuse Saros who has been terrific so far this season going 4-0 with a .945 save % and is coming off a 31 save shutout in Edmonton. The matchup isn't great but it isn't terrible either as the Sharks have been just average to start the season with a 4-3-1 record scoring 3.3 goals per game(16th). The Predators have also been one of the best home teams over the last 2-3 seasons as well making me more confident in firing up Saros in all formats. Sergei Bobrovsky FD - $8900 DK - $8400 Opponent - ARI Proj Pts FD - 19.13 DK - 4.78 Bobrovsky is coming off back to back seasons with 37 or more wins including a Vezina Trophy in 2016-17 but thing have not gone so well for him early this season. He sits with an ugly .876 save % but fortunately due to the offense in front of him he sits with a 2-3 record scoring 6+ DK/24+ FD points in two of his five starts. What stands out tonight and why it makes sense to ride with him, at least in GPP formats, is that he is at home as a big favorite(-167) against a Coyotes team that ranks dead last in offense scoring just 1.4 goals per game. With his struggles and high price, he may also be lower owned than he should be in this matchup. GOALIE Andrei Vasilevskiy FD - $9200 DK - $8100 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 16.77 DK - 4.19 Vasilevskiy has picked up where he left off after posting a career-high 44 wins. He sits with a 3-1 record and in those four starts has yet to allow an opponent to score more than two goals in a game which give him a league-leading 1.48 GAA and .954 save %. He should be able to keep it rolling on Saturday night as the Lightning are favorites(-140) on the road against a Wild team who are coming off two straight wins but will be playing on a back to back and have struggled to put the puck in the net scoring an average of just 2.4 goals per game. Fire up Vasilevskiy with confidence in all formats. John Gibson FD - $8700 DK - $7500 Opponent - VEG Proj Pts FD - 16.15 DK - 4.04 It's rare that I go with two goalies on the road but tonight it just feels right. John Gibson has been one of the best goalies in the league early in the season holding opponents to two or fewer goals in five of his six starts and facing just over 35 shots per game sits with an elite .948 save %. The matchup may not look great against the Golden Knights but it is not the 2017-18 season anymore and they have scored more than two goals just once in their seven games and rank 28th in offense(2.00 goals per game). The Ducks are currently underdogs in this game and I do prefer Vasilevskiy in cash but will be pivoting to Gibson in GPP formats at a lower ownership. He now gets an elite matchup as a huge home favorite( )against a Red Wings team that has started off 0-4-2 and has struggled to score goals averaging just 2.3 per game. Pay up and lock Vasilevskiy into your lineups in all formats tonight. Martin Jones FD - $8400 DK - $8000 Opponent - BUF Proj Pts FD - 20.48 DK - 5.12 Aaron Dell FD - $7700 DK - $7800 Opponent - BUF Proj Pts FD - 18.03 DK - 4.51 For a GPP play or even a value cahs play to help load up at other positions, I will be turning to the Sharks goalies tonight. Neither has been great to start the season as they have split the starting job but I would prefer if Dell started as he has been the better of the two going 1-0-1 in his two starts with a .917 save %(Jones 1-3 with a .880 save %). While the Sharks defense has struggled allowing 3.2 goals against per game so has the Sabres offense as they have scored just 12 goals in their six games. The Sharks are big favorites(-230) tonight on home ice so get on board in the late game. The good news is that those shot totals help him provide a very high floor and he has also been solid overall with a .934 save %. Even better news as the Wild will be at home tonight against a Coyotes team that is firing 36.5 shots on goal per game but have only scored three goals in four games ranking dead last in offense. As a big favorite( ), you can fire up Dubnyk in all formats tonight. Semyon Varlamov FD - $8200 DK - $8000 Opponent - NYR Proj Pts FD - 15.91 DK - 3.98 Another goalie off to a hot start has been Semyon Varlamov who comes into tonight a very impressive .946 save % while facing an average of 32.5 shots per game. The difference between he and Dubnyk is that the Avs offense has also been hot scoring 3.8 goals per game which has helped Varlamov to a 3-0-1 record. Like the Wild, the Avs and Varlamov also get a very nice matchup tonight facing a Rangers team that has gone 1-4 to start the season while averaging just 2.4 goals per game. The other positive is that they have fired just over 34 shots per game so all things considered, Varlamov can also be considered in all formats. GOALIE Early Slate Tuukka Rask FD - $8500 DK - $8400 Opponent - DET Proj Pts FD - 16.37 DK - 4.09 It hasn't been the start to the season Rask had hoped for as he has given up eight goals in his first two starts but he has a terrific matchup to turn it around. The Bruins are at home Saturday afternoon and are, by far, the biggest favorites(-270) on the slate facing a Red Wings team that is really missing Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk as they have scored just nine goals in their first four games(2.3 per game). On a regular sized slate, I likely wouldn't consider Rask until I see more from him but considering the other options today, he is my top goalie in all formats. Main Slate Pekka Rinne FD - $8800 DK - $8400 Opponent - NYI Proj Pts FD - 16.04 DK - 4.01 The Predators have gotten off to a good start this season and a big part of that has reigning Vezina Trophy winner Pekka Rinne. He is coming off a shutout against one of the best teams in the league in the Jets and has only allowed five total goals through three starts(.946 save %, 1.67 GAA). He will now face an Islanders team that is still looking to establish an identity with John Tavares leaving in free agency in the offseason. The Preds are the biggest favorites(-235) on the slate and considering the talent and matchup he is my top goalie in all formats. Casey Desmith FD - $7700 DK - $7800 Opponent - MON Proj Pts FD - 19.18 DK - 4.8 With Matt Murray suffering a concussion and out of the lineup for a while, Casey DeSmith steps in as the teams top goalie.
