First Data 500 Martinsville Speedway - Martinsville, VA Track - .526-Mile SHort Track After Chase Elliott held off Kyle Busch to pick up his second playoff win last week at Kansas, the field was reduced to eight drivers. The "Big 3" have all advanced but the bigger storyline is that Kyle Busch is the only one of those three with a playoff win and leads them with four Top 10's(Truex and Harvick each have three). The other big story as we enter the Round of 8 is that all four Stewart-Haas cars moved on and five of the remaining eight drivers come from the Ford camp. Get ready for one of the most exciting rounds of playoffs folks! To kick off the Round of 8, the Monster Energy Cup Series heads back to Martinsville Speedway where Clint Bowyer snapped his long 190 race winless streak. Probably even more memorable here at Martinsville was last years playoff race where Chase Elliott was in the lead late and was destined to win his first race until Denny Hamlin spun him out which brought on all the hate for the #11 at his home track. The worse part of that for Hamlin was likely not the boos he faced but rather that he didn't end up winning the race. This time around Elliott is the only one of the two remaining so we likely won't see any payback. For fantasy, there are 500 laps here at Martinville so dominator points are the key when building a core set of drivers. Looking at the last six races, there have been multiple drivers to lead 100 or more laps in five of the last six and three drivers to do so in each of the last two races here. Starting position will also be key as passing is tough and only twice in the last six races has there been more than two drivers to start outside the Top 20 and finish wit ha Top 10. The most interesting part of this weekends race is that it's an impound race meaning practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday and...

Hollywood Casino 400 Kansas Speedway - Kansas City, KS Track - 1.5 Mile D-Shaped Oval Intermediate After a dominant performance by the four cars at Stewart-Haas Racing, the Monster Energy Cup Series heads into Kansas Speedway for the second elimination race of the Playoffs. Just two(Aric Almirola & Chase Elliott) of the remaining 12 drivers enter this weekend locked into the Round of 8 leaving a ton of scenarios. Kevin Harvick is in the best shape of the non-winners as he needs just 11 points to clinch provided he doesn't win the race. The drivers in the worst position outside the cutline are Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson who can win to get in or clinch on points with some help and finally Alex Bowman who would need a win to advance. These scenarios will most definitely lead some different strategies throughout the race making it fun to watch and tough to predict. For fantasy, with 267 laps in the race, dominator points are back at the top of the list at this mile and a half intermediate track. Looking at the last six races here, there has been one driver to lead 100 or more laps in each race and at least two drivers to lead 50 or more laps in each of the last five races here. Place differential is solely dependant on qualifying as we have seen anywhere from four to 12 drivers(last six races) tally double-digit PD points. With that said, let's take a look at some of the track trends and then dig into some of the top targets. Last Six Winners at Kansas Kevin Harvick(started 1st) Martin Truex Jr.(started 1st) Martin Truex Jr.(started 3rd) Kevin Harvick(started 11th) Kyle Busch(started 6th) Joey Logano(started 14th) Top 5 Current Track History at Kansas No surprise here as the "Big 3" have been the dominating drivers here at Kansas since the start of the 2016 season(five races). Kevin Harvick has won two of the last four races here with four Top 5's in those five races. During his Championship season a year ago, Martin Truex Jr. absolutely dominated here winning both...

We've got you completely covered. 1000Bulbs.com 500 Talladega Superspeedway Track - 2.66 Mile Tri-Oval The second round started off with a race at Dover that saw a rained out qualifying session put the remaining 12 drivers at the front of the field with Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick on the front row. It was Harvick that used that to his advantage as he got out front and led 286 of the first 321 laps winning both stage one and two. Things didn't go as planned, however, as a broken valve stem from a pit stop late in the race cost him a lap and a shot at the win. The race eventually went to overtime and it was Chase Elliott who jumped out front on the restart and never looked back as he picked up his second win of the season and an automatic bid into the Round of 8. The second race of round two takes us to Talladega Superspeedway for the 1000bulbs.com 500 this Sunday afternoon. It is the second trip to Talladega and the fourth restrictor plate race of the season. The plate tracks are the great equalizer in an era where finding an edge is nearly impossible. It is a race where almost anyone can win if you can avoid "The Big One" or two or three. With that said, it has been Penske Racing teammates Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski who have dominated here winning five of the last six and six of the last eight races here. From a fantasy perspective, our main focus and strategy shifts as dominator points are not nearly as important. Only four times in the last six races has there been a driver lead 50 or more laps with three or more drivers leading 20 or more laps in five of the last six races. The key strategy this week is building a roster around drivers with place differential upside as coming through the field is easier than any other race with drafting. There have been seven or more drivers to pick up double-digit place differential in each of the last six races and three times there have been...

Gander Outdoors 400 Dover International Speedway - Dover, DE Track - 1 Mile Oval The inaugural Charlotte Road Course race proved to be very exciting and things really got interesting on the final lap. Jimmie Johnson was seven points to the good but proved to everyone no matter what the format is, drivers still want to win every single race. He ended up getting into Martin Truex Jr. on the final turn which ultimately ended up in him not advancing to the second round. That crash triggered more craziness Jeffrey Earnhardt also got turned and ended up stalled on the track which allowed Kyle Larson's beat up car to limp past him and gain the one point he needed to advance. In the end, Jimmie Johnson, Austin Dillon, Denny Hamlin, and Erik Jones were eliminated leaving 12 drivers left fighting for a championship. The second round begins this Sunday afternoon with a return trip to Dover International Speedway for the Gander Outdoors 400. The track is a one-mile oval with 24 degrees of banking making it much different than the other one-mile tracks(New Hampshire/Phoenix) so track type won't be weighed this week. What I will be looking at more than anything is dominator upside as there have been two drivers to lead 100 or more laps in each of the last four races and six of those eight drivers came from a Top 5 starting position. One note before getting started. The qualifying session for this race was rained out on Friday afternoon meaning the field will be set by owners points with the final 12 drivers in the playoffs leading the field to green in the first six rows. Let's now dig in and take a look at some track history trends and then look at some of the top targets for the race. Last Six Winners at Dover Kevin Harvick(started 2nd, led 201 laps) Kyle Busch(started 2nd, led 30 laps) Jimmie Johnson(started 14th, led 7th) Martin Truex Jr.(started 2nd, led 187 laps) Matt Kenseth(started 10th, led 48 laps) Kevin Harvick(started 15th, led 355 laps) Top 5 Current Track...

Bank of America Roval 400 Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course- Concord, NC The race that everyone has been talking about since it was cemented on the 2018 schedule is finally here. The first elimination race of the Monster Energy Cup Series Playoffs takes us to Charlotte Motor Speedway but it won't be like any race you have ever witnessed. The track added a hybrid road course this season called the Roval and it presents a ton of unpredictability for drivers and teams making it a complete wildcard for those remaining drivers who are not locked into the second round. Before going any further, let's take a look at the track overview and then take a ride around the track with AJ Allmendinger. For fantasy, it appears there will be some opportunity for passing on the oval portion of the track so track position may not be as important(still very important) as other road courses. I will also be targeting playoff drivers for the most part to create my core. I will definitely not be playing cash games this week as there WILL be wrecks at this track adding a ton of variance meaning you can be contrarian and target drivers who might be lower owned this week. Stay tuned for updates on practices and qualifying on my sheet and in chat. Let's now look at some road course trends, form trends, and then a few pre-qualifying targets. Top 5 Current Track Type History(Road Course) Over the last two years(six race) on road courses, no team has been more consistent than Joe Gibbs Racing. Kyle Busch doesn't have a road course win since Sonoma in 2015 but since then he has reeled off seven straight Top 10 finishes. Denny Hamlin won the Watkins Glen race in 2016 and is right up there with Busch having a 5.7 average finish in the last six races overall on road courses. Martin Truex Jr. who runs in the #78 car, a technical alliance teammate of JGR, has been terrific on road courses lately having finished second at Watkins Glen back in August and...
