Running Back Chris Carson FD 7900 DK 6300 Opponent MIA Proj Points FD - 8.3 DK - 9.75 Carson was limited in practice again on Thursday with a first degree knee sprain - an injury that usually requires a 1-2 week timetable for recovery. If he were to sit, it would open up a lot of opportunity for a team that's never been shy about running the ball. The problem is that the presumed heir to the RB1 carries, Carlos Hyde, has also been limited in practice this week. If both Hyde and Carson were to sit you'd be look at a very chalky Travis Homer as a likely three down back in Seattle. He'd be a cash game lock in a fantastic match-up with Miami. Leonard Fournette FD 5500 DK 5600 Opponent LAC Proj Points FD - 2.99 DK - 3.73 Our system is now very bearish on Fournette's chances of playing on Sunday after Bruce Arians called it a "stretch" to think about him playing. If he winds up being out, it becomes a huge boon to Ronald Jones Jr.'s fantasy stock. The Bucs are already likely to be without Chris Godwin and Scotty Miller this week, and they are running low on ways to reliably approach short yardage situation. Jones had 17 opportunities (carries plus targets) last week, and given that the Bucs are 7.5 point favorites against the Chargers you'd figure that he'll be heavily involved here. I'd be comfortable with him in cash games if Fournette were ruled out. Kareem Hunt FD 5900 DK 6200 Opponent DAL Proj Points FD - 12.04 DK - 13.53 This is a sneakier one to keep an eye on. Hunt has missed two straight practices with a groin injury, and his absence could turn Nick Chubb into a three down back. I'm not sure this is where you want to spend up for cash game purposes even if Hunt is out of the picture, but taking carries away from a very talented back-up can only help Chubb's big tournament prospects. Sony Michel FD 5600 DK 4600 Opponent KC Proj Points FD - 9.23 DK - 10.34 Michel is cruising toward a questionable tag for Sunday's...

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor FD 6700 DK 5700 Opponent CAR Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Taylor suffered a punctured lung at the hands of a trainer before last week's game, and one has to wonder if Taylor or the trainer is having a worse week this week. Justin Herbert filled in and exceeded expectations last week, but the price has come up to the point where you're not exactly getting away with anything by playing him. I will say that, unlike typical situations where we get a back-up QB, the receiving options in LA are still playable here. Keenan Allen had 10 targets last week, and Hunter Henry had 8. Both should be on your radar in all formats. Jimmy Garoppolo FD 7000 DK 5600 Opponent NYG Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Drew Lock FD 6800 DK 5300 Opponent TB Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 I'll list the two major QB injuries together because they have the same impact, which is making the offenses for both teams essentially unplayable. I could think about playing a running back in the 49ers offense if we get definitive news as to where those carries are headed, but otherwise these two teams are relegated to big tournaments only. Running Backs Christian McCaffrey FD 10000 DK 9200 Opponent LAC Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Mike Davis FD 6000 DK 5100 Opponent LAC Proj Points FD - 15.25 DK - 18.05 With McCaffrey ruled out in the middle of the week 2 game, all eyes turned to Mike Davis. Davis had just 1 carry, but saw 8 targets in week 2, and appears to be the heir apparent to all those RB touches in Carolina. I expect we'll see some cash game ownership here, though it's not without risk given Carolina's deep underdog status in this one. Saquon Barkley FD 7500 DK 6300 Opponent SF Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Barkley's season was tragically ended last week, and it leaves the Giants with a pretty unexciting running back by committee situation going forward. There's Dion Lewis, who has never done much in...

Running Backs James Conner FD 6900 DK 6800 Opponent DEN Proj Points FD - 12.73 DK - 14 Much to our chagrin, Conner has practiced in full this week, which takes Benny Snell Jr. out of lineup consideration, unfortunately. Miles Sanders FD 6800 DK 6000 Opponent LAR Proj Points FD - 12.84 DK - 14.22 Like Conner, Sanders has been practicing in full, and claims that he is 100% going into this week's match-up with the Rams. He also claimed that he could have played week 1, but wanted to be extra careful. This match-up with the Rams is nothing to write home about, but he's cheap enough that you have to consider him for big tournaments. Marlon Mack FD 5900 DK 5000 Opponent MIN Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Mack's season is over before it started, leaving the Colts' running back touches to Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines. Unfortunately, it's looking like a good old fashioned time share, with the two evening splitting touches in week one, even though Hines saw more snaps. Still, both are very cheap, and Rivers throws to RBs as much as anyone. I can see an argument for running these guys in big tournaments for sure, and possibly even in PPR formats. Le'Veon Bell FD 6100 DK 5200 Opponent SF Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Like Mack, Bell is out for the season. Like Mack, he leaves behind an apparent timeshare to Frank Gore and Josh Adams. There is no indication where these carries are going, but in a week against the Niners where you wouldn't play any Jets RBs anyway we should get a clearer picture of what they are going to do going forward. Phillip Lindsay FD 5000 DK 5100 Opponent PIT Proj Points FD - 0 DK - 0 Lindsay has been ruled out of week 2's match-up agains the Steelers, and while Melvin Gordon was already the lead back,...

Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape. It's a shorter slate and a light news day, but we'll be updating as stuff rolls in. Also throw out some ideas in the comments and we can take it from there. What We Know Kobe Bryant is back, and Lou Williams is out But man, it'll be tough to walk away from what D'Angelo Russell has been doing recently. Still, keep in mind that Bryant plays 30 minutes a game with 30% usage when he's out there, and Russell's usage drops by almost 20% (from 28 to 24) with Bryant on the floor. Lou Williams' day off makes D'Angelo a little more interesting for sure, as that's another 20+ back-courts to redistribute. Still, Russell had been fluctuating between high 20s and low 30s minutes before Bryant's rest, and he won't be nearly as effective on fewer minutes with fewer usage. I'll be staying away from him until we see what his "new normal" is. Will Barton will be the man for a while with Gallinari sidelined Not a great game for Barton in his first Gallo-free game, but that just keeps the price affordable for a great match-up with the Lakers. Play him anywhere. What We're Waiting to Know Jahlil Okafor's status He missed Monday's game, and Jerami Grant put up another terrific game in starter's minutes. This is a huge one - if Okafor is out, Grant is a terrific play once again against a soft Charlotte front court. UPDATE: Okafor is out. Grant gets a big boost. Kenneth Faried's status Faried is being listed as questionable with another lower back strain, which is a real shame given the way he's been crushing. This...

Now let’s look at some news that’s come in throughout the day to see if anything’s changed in our minds or in the NBA landscape. What We Know Kawhi Leonard is out He was a late scratch (thanks for nothing, Pop) last night, and Kyle Anderson got a good amount of run. Still, the minutes in that game were all over the place for everyone. Anderson is more of an interesting tourney play than a double-up guy for me, just because he's simply not very good. This news is also significant for LaMarcus Aldridge, who gets a 10%+ usage bump when Kawhi's not on the floor. His usage also soars to 33%+ when both Duncan and Leonard are off the floor, which will inevitably happen in this one. Amar'e Stoudemire, Luol Deng, and Justise Winslow should see increased roles With Whiteside AND Bosh out, it's sort of unclear how the Heat are going to handle things. My gut tells me they are going to play Deng and Winslow more, and that they play Stoudemire as much or more than they have all season. The Hawks are basically a league average match-up for each of these guys, and each has plenty of value at current prices. EDIT: Casey, a member of our DFSR community, points out that the ATL bigs could eat the piecemeal Miami bigs for lunch. I tend to agree - Stoudemire isn't a true 5, and Horford certainly is. Millsap will be a very tough match-up for Deng as well. It should be a slow paced game, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see a big game out of either of those guys. Tobias Harris is coming off the bench Basically just means that whole collection of guys (Tolliver, Harris, probably Stanley Johnson) are a stay-away until we see how this plays out in at least 1 close game. What We’re Waiting to Know Marco Belinelli and Omri Casspi's mouths...
