Waste Management Phoenix Open Welcome back to another week of daily fantasy golf. Jason Day walked away with his 11th career win this morning on the sixth playoff hole at the Farmers Insurance Open. It capped off the biggest event of the season so far as we got to see the return of Tiger Woods. He definitely made things exciting as he birdied the 36th hole on Friday afternoon to sneak in under the cut. He came away with a T23 and shot par or better in all four rounds so there is a ton to take away from this performance as he moves forward in the 2018 season. This week the PGA Tour travels to the desert for the Waste Management Phoenix Open from TPC Scottsdale. One of the most fun and most entertaining tournaments of the year where a record-setting 204,906 people attended the Saturday round last year and just over 655,000 for the entire tournament. The focus for most fans attending is the one-of-a-kind 16th hole that is completely enclosed with a stadium-style atmosphere where fans will cheer and boo loudly unlike any other event on tour. Just check out some of the highlights. Before getting into the course history, current form, and stats picks for the week let's take a look at the course information, past winners, and key stats. Farmers Insurance Open Welcome back to another week of daily fantasy golf. It's early in the 2018 season but this is by far the biggest week of the year as Tiger Woods returns to action. It marks his first official start on the Tour since the Farmers Insurance Open last year where he shot 76/72 and missed the cut. He is, however, coming off a fantastic showing at the Hero World Challenge in early December where he finished T9 after shooting three rounds under 70. It will most definitely be "Must See TV" and brings a ton of excitement to the overall golf conversation. This week we are treated to another multi-course rotation with Torrey Pines South and North courses being used. Golfers will get a crack at each course in the first two days with a 36 hole cut coming after Friday's round and the South Course being used in each of the final two rounds. After some birdie fests over the past few weeks, things will change this week as Torrey Pines is considered one of the toughest tests on the PGA Tour, especially since the North Course was renovated in 2016. Jon Rahm is the defending champ with a score of -13 but the three previous winners all won with a score under in the single digits. Let's take a quick look at the hole composition and approach shot distribution(via Fantasy National Golf Club). Throughout the article, I will almost exclusively be concentrating on teh South Course as golfers will be spending three of the four rounds on this course incuding the final two rounds. As you can see above, length is one of the biggest challenges here at Torry Pines so I will be not only looking at Strokes Gained: Approach but also factoring in Proximity from the 175-200 yards and from 200+ yards. Driving Distance is...

CareerBuilder Challenge Welcome back daily fantasy golf fans. The 2018 portion of the season is in full swing and this week the players return to the mainland and will travel to La Quinta, California for the CareerBuilder Challenge formerly known as the Humana Challenge and the Bob Hope Classic. This week is a little different than most PGA tournaments as it will be played on three different courses. Each player will get one round on each course over the first three days with the tournament holding a 54-hole cut. The final round on Sunday will be played the host course, TPC Stadium Course in its third year as the host course. This also muddies the water when trying to analyze course history and key stats but we will roll with the hand we are dealt. Below is a look at the hole composition and approach shot distribution on the Stadium Course via Fantasy National Golf Club. Those making the final round on Sunday will get two cracks at this course so this will be the only course I will be looking closely at in the article. For an overview of the other two courses, be sure to grab a copy of my cheatsheet. Like I mentioned above, narrowing down the stats is very tough this week but a few I am looking at for the Stadium Course specifically are Par 4's from 400-450 yards and approaches from 150-175 yards. More than anything, I will be looking at Birdie or Better % as the winning score has been between -20 and -28 for five straight years. I am keeping things pretty simple this week and weighing form and last two years course history a little higher than normal. Let's jump in and take a look at the course, past winners, and my top picks in each category. The Courses TPC...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – Sony Open
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - Sony Open DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis, and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings and FanDuel. Sony Open After Dustin Johnson walked away with a commanding win at the Tournament of Champions last week, we move on to the first full-field event of 2018, the Sony Open. There will be 144 golfers(140 for fantasy) traveling to Waialae Country Club to tee it up this week, with the Top 70 and ties heading into the weekend in search of the giant cheque, trophy, and Hawaiian Lei. Justin Thomas returns as the defending champ and with his caddie, Jimmie Johnson, down and out with injury, he has pulled Jim "Bones" McKay out of his TV job to carry his bag and help him try and repeat. He hasn't caddied here at Waialae CC in quite a while(1992 I believe) but the experience can't hurt. This week when looking at the course, we have a Par 70 that works out to be 7,044 yards and is quite a bit different from the mile-wide fairways at Kapalua. Looking at last year's data, the average fairways hit was around 56% which is going to put more emphasis on Strokes Gained: Off the Tee. Each one of the Top 5 golfers(Thomas, Rose, Spieth, Kisner, Lovemark) last year finished the tournament gaining more than two strokes off the tee. With Greens in Regulation still averaging over 70% for the tournament, I will also be factoring Good Drive % which looks at the % of fairways hit + the % of greens/fringe in regulation from off the fairway. As always, Strokes Gained: Approach will be relevant as only one player inside the Top 10 and three players inside the Top 20 lost strokes with their approach last season. With the course being a par 70, we also have 12 Par 4's this week with 10 of them falling between 400 and 500 yards so when looking at Par 4 Scoring be sure to factor...
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – Sentry Tournament of Champions
Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - Sentry Tournament of Champions DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. Sentry Tournament of Champions Happy New Year fantasy golf fans. The 2018 portion of the season kicks off this week with the Sentry Tournament of Champions and while it's a small field/no cut event, GOLF IS BACK!! There will be 34 golfers, all winners in 2017, traveling to Kapalua to take on the Plantation Course which is a unique Par 73 setup that stretches out to 7,452 yards. It consists of just three Par 3's with 11 Par 4's and four Par 5's and has seen an average score of -21 over the last five years so Birdie's will most definitely be at a premium. As you can see with the hole composition below(via Fantasy National Golf Club), five of the Par 4's fall between 350 and 400 yards so I will be looking closely at the players who excelled from that range in 2017, especially down the stretch and into the fall season. The fairways are very wide and forgiving which will take a bit away from the Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and Accuracy element and although the greens are also larger than average, I am using Strokes Gained: Approach with an emphasis on Proximity. The greens are very undulated and slow so players who can get the ball closer to the pin consistently will have a way better shot at making Birdies. I will also be looking at players who are consistently better putters overall(Strokes Gained: Putting) and combining that with three-putt avoidance. Course History is another key this week and right behind the stats model this week. There are 14 players who have never played in this tournament and only three players(Spieth, DJ, Dufner) who have played here more than twice in the last five years. Current form is last up in the overall model but one thing I will be looking at is how active...
