It didn't come easy as Justin Thomas holed out from the fairway on the 72nd hole to take a one-shot lead but Phil made birdies on the 15th and then a long 19-footer on the 16th hole followed by back to back pars to take it to extra holes where he finished it off on the first playoff hole. Missed the action? Check out the highlights for yourself before we jump into this week. This week the Tour heads back to Florida for the Valspar Championship from the Copperhead course at Innisbrook Resort. Year in and year out, this course ranks as one of the hardest on Tour and with its tight, tree-lined fairways, double doglegs, bunkers and water. With the challenges off the tee, we will most definitely see a lot of "Less than Driver" strategies from a ton of the players. Just check out some of the quotes from players(via Future of Fantasy). The other interesting part about this course is that has five Par 3's and what all of them are 195 yards or longer. This challenge definitely helps keep the winning scores down as survival on these holes is key as we have seen just 16% and 15% of all birdies come from these five holes. The Par 5 holes are where most of the players will make it up as at least 45% of total birdies have come on these four holes over the last couple years.  Now let's take a look at the course dimensions and stats, previous winners, ket stats, and then dig into some picks for this week.   The Course Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead) Par 71 - 7,340 Yards **Click HERE or the pic above to see a course breakdown from...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – WGC Mexico Championship

WGC Mexico Championship Welcome back to another week of daily fantasy golf. The Honda Classic ended Sunday with Justin Thomas picking up his second win of the season and eighth of his young career as he beat out Luke List on the first playoff hole. This week the PGA Tour heads to Mexico City for the second WGC event of the season, the Mexico Championship. Dustin Johnson took down the first Mexico Championship last season with a winning score of -14 and now has five WGC event wins in his career. This year's event has another loaded field with 45 of the World's Top 50 players and over 20 players from the European Tour. The lack of stats and course history clouds the model slightly this week so I will be looking heavily at form, especially DraftKings points. Also, just a note that this is a no-cut event so you will be getting all four rounds from every golfer. One thing that stands out this week for me is a quote from last year(via Future of Fantasy Golfanac) where Tommy Fleetwood talks about the course. This has me leaning heavily on the Euro players this week as you will see below. Let's take a look at the course itself, some stats, and then dig into some picks for the week. Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – The Honda Classic

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel - The Honda Classic DFSR is proud to bring you, Chris Durell. He'll be bringing weekly PGA picks, analysis, and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings and FanDuel. As every week in DFS PGA changes with the course setup, field of players and weather, Chris will be providing picks based off course history, current form and stats for both cash games and GPP's. The Honda Classic The Course PGA National (Champion) Par 70 - 7,140 Yards Greens - Bermuda **Click HERE or the pic above to see a course breakdown from PGATour.com** Hole Composition Approach Shot Distribution Past Five Winners Ricke Fowler(-12) Adam Scott(-9) Padraig Harrington(-6) Russell Henley(-8) Michael Thompson(-9) Top Stats in the Model Strokes Gained: Ball Striking(APP+OTT) Strokes Gained: Around the Green Par 4 Scoring Birdie or Better % Bermuda Putting This is definitely a golf course where players will not be able to overpower it with thicker than normal rough. This puts a ton of emphasis on getting the ball in play on the fairway(less than driver) which in turn will give the player a chance to hit the greens(Strokes Gained: Ball Striking). With the course being a Par 70 setup, there are only two Par 5's which is why you will see a ton of weight on Par 4 scoring. As always, Birdie or Better % is also heavily weighted as it directly correlates with fantasy scoring on DraftKings and FanDuel. One little note before jumping into the article. I use multiple sources for my research to help determine key stats starting with Fantasy National Golf Club and their elite set of tools from course history, hole composition, past performance and much, much more. I also combine it with some of the information on Future of Fantasy including correlated courses and most importantly the quotes from players section to help determine what it takes to win here(key stats). Genesis Open Welcome back golf fans. I hope you enjoyed the Pebble Beach Pro-Am that ended with an unlikely winner. It was Ted Potter Jr. picking up his second career win and it was huge for Potter who won the Greenbrier Classic back in his rookie season in 2012 and in 67 starts on Tour since that win, only recorded two Top 10 finishes. If you were one of the .04% that played him in GPP's last week, you likely saw some green screens and were thrilled with your bankroll Sunday night/Monday morning. This week the PGA Tour stays in California and heads to Pacific Palisades for the Genesis Open(once named the Northern Trust Open). If you have been waiting for the "Big Boy" tournament, this is it as four of the Top 10, 11 of the Top 20, and 27 of the World's Top 50 players are in the field to take on Riviera Country Club. The course is an absolute beastly Par 71 setup that stretches out to 7,322 yards with tough to hit fairways, tough to hit and fast greens. Combine that with the tricky Poa greens and the players in this strong field will have their hands full this week. Let's now take a look at the course details and setup, past winners, key stats, and then jump into some picks based aroudn Course History, Current Form, and the Stats Model. Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Business is booming as the fourth straight week with a playoff on the PGA Tour ended with Gary Woodland hoisting the Waste Management Phoenix Open trophy this past Sunday. He beat out local boy Chez Reavie on the first playoff hole after a wild final round that started with 13 golfers within three shots of the lead. Look for the excitement to continue as the players now head to one of the most historic and iconic courses in America. This week the PGA Tour heads to Pebble Beach, California for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Like two weeks ago at the CareerBuilder Challenge, the players will be dealing with a three-course rotation with a 54-hole cut including the Top 60 and ties. Jordan Spieth returns as the defending champion and joins a loaded field that includes three of the Top 5, five of the Top 10, and 17 of the Top 50 players in the World. All three courses come in under 7,000 yards and while the weather can play a huge factor in the final score, the average winning score has been -17 over the past five years so scoring will be at a premium. Different players have had success on different courses but overall, Monterey Peninsula ranks as the easiest of the three while Spy Glass ranks as the hardest of the three. From a fantasy standpoint, it makes sense to employ a stars and scrubs strategy in both cash games and GPP formats this week as each player gets an extra round with the three-course rotation. With the emphasis on birdies and scoring, that means the fantasy scores will be much higher and less likely that a scrape by six of six team will not necessarily cash in all formats. Let's take a look at each of the courses and previous...
