PGA Championship It's time to get jacked up for the second major championship of 2019 and it's hard to argue with the new scheduling as it has only been a month since Tiger Woods won the Masters. That's right, the PGA Championship has been moved from it's regular August date to May to fit right in the middle of the Masters and US Open to hopefully generate a steady buzz for the sport throughout the summer months. Unlike the Masters, this is a full 156-man field with a regular cut of Top 70 and tie. There are many ways to get into this major and a couple of note that we should discuss for fantasy are the 20 PGA Professionals in the field along with former champions. I mention these two groups as both can be crossed off the list as it is rare for either to make the cut. Outside of those players, the field is absolutely loaded with every one of the Top 100 in the OWGR teeing it up for a chance to hoist the Wanamaker Trophy. Like the U.S. Open and Open Championship, this major rotates course annually and this year will be hosted by Bethpage State Park(Black Course). This will be the third major held here and first PGA Championship as it also hosted the 2009(Lucas Glover) and 2002(Tiger Woods) U.S. Open. More recently, Bethpage also hosted the 2012 and 2016 Barclays as a part of the PGA Tour Playoff schedule. Bethpage Black is one of the hardest courses in America due to its length in comparison to it being just a Par 70. Three of the four Par 3's exceed 200 yards with seven of the 12 Par 4's exceeding 450 yards and three exceeding 500 yards. Not only will players need length off the tee but like any major championship, hitting fairways is also at a premium...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – AT&T Byron Nelson

AT&T Byron Nelson This week the PGA Tour heads back to Trinity Forest Golf Club as it will host the AT&T Byron Nelson for the second time. Aaron Wise returns as the defending champion as he posted a -23 winning score, three strokes better than Marc Leishman. With this year's event a week before the PGA Championship, the field is once again fairly week but lead by World #3, Brooks Koepka and Trinity Forest member, Jordan Spieth. The course is a Ben Crenshaw/Bill Coore design and is a Links Style setup in every facet besides location as it resides inland. Even with very generous fairways(75%+ driving accuracy last year), this course forces players to really use their brains and in some regards play the holes backward from green to tee. The greens are very undulated putting an emphasis on approach shots and when breaking down Strokes Gained: Approach, I will be looking closely at Proximity stats. With all the undulation I will also be looking at players who rank high in three-putt avoidance. The course played very firm last year and that will be the biggest difference as Dallas has received lots of rain lately and looking at the early forecast, it is supposed to rain right up until late Wednesday night. This will have the course playing softer which, in my opinion, gives more advantage to the bombers who will fly it farther while last year the shorter hitters were benefited by the firm rollout fairway conditions. Not that shorter hitters can't succeed but when targeting them make sure they are trending with their long iron play. It also makes sense to take a look at golfers who are successful in playing Links-Style golf. For this info, I turn to the Fantasy Golfanac who looks at strokes gained information from all Links events worldwide going back to the start of the 2014...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – Wells Fargo Championship

Wells Fargo Championship After a week off from the regular stroke-play events, we are back to break down the 2019 Wells Fargo Championship. The field is strong at the top once again, led by three of the World's Top 10 golfers in Justin Rose(#2), Rory McIlroy(#4), and Rickie Fowler(#10). When analyzing course history this week, there are some things to keep in mind. First of all, you will see on my sheet that I have five years history but left out 2017. That is because Quail Hollow hosted the PGA Championship while Eagle Point was the one year host of this event. I have included the 2017 PGA leaderboard on my sheet for reference as well. The other big thing to note is that the course was reconstructed and went from a Par 72(pre-2017) to a Par 71. With the changes, the course played as one of the hardest courses on Tour a year ago, the first Wells Fargo Championship since the reconstruction. Check out the changes in the video below. As you will see in the course breakdown below, nine of the 11 Par 4 holes are listed at 449 yards or longer with five of them exceeding 475 yards in length. This puts a ton of emphasis on bombers this week and/or players who are on point with their long irons. I will also be weighing Par 4 scoring over Par 5 scoring this week and looking at the results from last year help paint the picture. All but one player who finished Top 10 in Strokes Gained: Par 4 finished the tournament Top 10 including the winner Jason Day. While the Top 3 players in Par 5 scoring all finished Top 10 including Jason Day, there were only four overall with four finishing outside the Top 20 and one missing the cut. The trends can be found going back to...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – RBC Heritage

RBC Heritage Anyone else have a Masters hangover? What an amazing event we just witnessed with a jam-packed leaderboard all four days capped off by 15th major Championship win(5th Masters) by Tiger Woods. Miss it? Here is a look at his final round highlights. Enjoy! This week, we go from the Green Jacket to the Plaid Jacket as the PGA Tour heads to Harbour Town Golf Links for the RBC Heritage. While you would think the event following the Masters would suffer, that is not the case this year as four of the Top 10(Dustin Johnson, Francesco Molinari, Bryson DeChambeau, Xander Schauffele) and 24 of the Top golfers in the World are teeing it up this week. There are also almost 40 players in the field who played last week at the Masters. Harbour Town is a Pete Dye-designed Par 71 that is just shy of 7,100 yards in length. If you click the course scorecard below and link to the PGA Tour Course Preview, you will quickly see that the driver will not be the key club this week. The fairways are narrow and tree-lined and like all Pete Dye designs, placement off the tee due to the angles is key. Because of this, we will see a lot of golfers clubbing down and using irons or fairway woods. Accuracy is what I am looking at when breaking down the Off the Tee stats this week. The most important stat to me this week is Strokes Gained: Approach as the greens are very small and tough to hit meaning those players on point for four days will separate themselves from the pack. It also makes sense to look at and weigh Strokes Gained: Around the Green/Scrambling as well with a high percentage of the field missing greens almost half the time. If accuracy is off on the approach, you can still save the...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks and Betting Guide for DraftKings & FanDuel – The Masters

The Masters The most anticipated week on the PGA Tour is finally here as the 2019 Masters Tournament kicks off on Wednesday with the Par 3 competition. This year's field is made up of 86 players plus the winner of the Valero Texas Open(if not already in the field). The cut is another unique thing about the Masters as the Top 50 and ties plus any golfer within 10 strokes of the lead after Friday's round move on to the weekend. From a statistical standpoint, it is hard to narrow it down to a just a couple stats as Augusta will challenge every facet of a golfers game. Distance can definitely be an advantage especially on the Par 4, 10th and 11th holes that are 495 and 505 yards respectively. Speaking of the Par 4's, that is a spot I will be concentrating on for a couple of reasons. The four Par 5 holes are the easiest on the course and should be had by most of the field. Where I feel golfers can separate themselves is on the Par 4's which are much tougher. Going back to 2012(via Fantasy National Golf Club), the winner has led the field in Strokes Gained: Par 4 Scoring four times, finished Top 5 six times and 8th or better in all seven of those Masters. That same winner has finished 20th or worse in Par 5 Scoring three times with Patrick Reed leading both last year.  We can also pull a lot from the following Jon Rahm quote from last year. Biggest takeaway? Short game, short game, short game! It makes sense as the greens are large but multi-tiered, very fast and have shaved edges which, on some holes, eliminates portions of the green for landing zones. The very tough greens also bring three-putt avoidance in play. Patrick Reed talked last year about some courses it not...
