Daytona 500 Daytona International Speedway Track - 2.5-Mile Superspeedway(Restrictor Plate) Welcome back races fans, it's time for another exciting Monster Energy Cup Series season. Before I get into the fantasy breakdown and picks I would like to share with you my experience for the Daytona 500. I would first of all like to thank NASCAR Integrated Media Communications for inviting me to take part in this one of a kind experience covering Speedweeks from a media perspective. I am currently in an office in the Daytona 500 club which is situated on the infield right on the start/finish line. Today(Wednesday) I will be conducting some driver interviews with Austin Dillon, Erik Jones, Kevin Harvick, and Ty Dillon as well as following along with the mainstream media coverage and driver interviews. I will then be spending Thursday through Sunday in the pits and garage to get an up-close look at how teams operate. If you want to see the pictures or hear interviews, I will post the links in the comments section below. There are some notable changes going into the 2018 season and it starts with pit road. The number of crew members allowed over the wall will be reduced from six to five this year which could make things interesting from a strategy standpoint early in the season. My feeling after talking to some drivers is that some teams may try some different strategies early on but a few races in should all be close to using the same strategy. The other big difference this season is that the pit guns used will now be a standard piece of equipment coming from the same manufacturer where in the past some teams spent considerably more money to have better guns thus faster pit stops. I will definitely be watching closely and tracking which teams are performing best on pit road this season and including a write up down the line. Let's now take a look at some of the trends going into this weeks race. Last Six Winners at Daytona 2017 Summer - Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 2017 Daytona 500 - Kurt Busch 2016 Summer -...

Welcome back to another exciting season of daily fantasy NASCAR. We are now just 10 days from the 60th running of the Daytona 500 so I wanted to put together a season preview series looking at each team and driver and their average fantasy production on each track type from 2017 and their outlook going into the 2018 season. If you are new to fantasy NASCAR, especially on DraftKings, be sure to check out my strategy article coming out soon covering some basic strategy for cash games and GPP formats. Chip Ganassi Racing The first team in this preview article series that will see no changes in their drivers going into the 2018 season. Both Kyle Larson and Jamie McMurray are back in the #42 and #1 after a successful 2017 season. Larson broke out in a big way in his fourth NASCAR Cup Series season with four wins, 15 Top 5's, and 20 Top 10 finishes. McMurray didn't record a win in 2017 but did pick up three Top 5's and 17 Top 10's and posted the ninth-best average finish(14.6) in the series. Both drivers also made the Monster Energy Cup Series Playoffs and will be looking for even more in 2018. Now let's take a look at how each driver performed when looking at the fantasy numbers. 2018 Drivers Kyle Larson #42 Larson came hot out of the gates in the 2017 season and almost took home the Daytona 500 before running out of fuel in the final laps. He then went on to finish runner-up at Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Phoenix coming so close to grabbing his second career win. He got that win the next week as he started from the pole at Auto Club Speedway and battled through multiple late-race cautions to eventually grab the checkered flag. That win propelled him to a huge breakout season where he won twice at Michigan and then Richmond sending him to the playoffs as the #2 seed. He easily made it through the Round of 16 with three straight Top 5 finishes and followed that up in the Round of 8 with a...

If you are new to fantasy NASCAR, especially on DraftKings, be sure to check out my strategy article coming out soon covering some basic strategy for cash games and GPP formats. Stewart-Haas Racing It was a year of change for the Stewart-Haas Racing team as they switched manufacturers and transitioned from Chevrolet to Ford. While many(including myself) believed it would take some time to make the necessary adjustments, they surprised us all in the first race of the season as Kurt Busch won his first Daytona 500. The team also welcomed veteran driver, Clint Bowyer, on board as he took over for the retired and future Hall of Famer, Tony Stewart. The 2017 season also ended up being the final one for Danica Patrick in the #10 car. Aric Almirola will replace her after spending the previous six season in the #43 for Richard Petty Motorsports. Kurt Busch's win at Daytona and Kevin Harvick's win at Sonoma propelled the two drivers into the playoffs as the only two on the team as Clint Bowyer finished 18th and Danica Patrick 28th in the regular season standings. Busch was eliminated in the first round after finishing no better than 19th in the first three races of the playoffs but Harvick made it all the way to the final four finishing third behind Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch. Let' snow take a look at each driver and their fantasy performance last season. 2018 Drivers Kevin Harvick #4 It was a slow start to the season for Harvick who picked up just two Top 10 finishes in his first six races but finished the regular season with 15 Top 10's in his final 20 races including a win at Sonoma to earn him a berth in the Monster Energy...

If you are new to fantasy NASCAR, especially on DraftKings, be sure to check out my strategy article coming out soon covering some basic strategy for cash games and GPP formats. Hendrick Motorsports While the Hendrick Motorsports organization sent three drivers to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, it was a disappointing season overall. They combined for just four wins(Jimmie Johnson with three of them) and saw no drivers make the final four. It was a season-long farewell to Dale Earnhardt Jr. who is stepping away from driving and into the NBC booth. From a driving standpoint, it was a disappointing final season as he didn't reach Victory Lane and only recorded one Top 5 and eight Top 10 finishes. Despite picking up his 18th career win, Kasey Kahne was very inconsistent once again prompting HMS and Kahne to part ways going into the 2018 season. The core of the race team will have an entirely new look and feel in 2018 as Alex Bowman will step into the #88 car, Chase Elliott will switch over to the #9 car, and William Byron will jump up from the Xfinity series to drive the #24 car. Let's jump in and take a look at Chaes Elliott and Jimmie Johnson's performance on each track type in 2017 and all four drivers outlook's for 2018. 2018 Drivers Jimmie Johnson #48 The 2017 season started out on a low note as the seven-time Cup Series champion got caught up in a crash at the Daytona 500 and only recorded one Top 10 finish(Phoenix-9th) in his first six races. He made up for the slow start after that with back to back wins at Texas and Bristol(shown in video above) and grabbed a third win at Dover in June. Unfortunately for the #48...

If you are new to fantasy NASCAR, especially on DraftKings, be sure to check out my strategy article coming out soon covering some basic strategy for cash games and GPP formats. Team Penske & Wood Brothers Racing It was an up and down season for the Team Penske duo of Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano in 2017. It started off on a high note when Joey Logano and crew chief Todd Gordon were signed to a long-term contract extension through 2022 and that momentum carried over through the first quarter of the season. Between Logano(8) and Keselowski(7), they had recorded 15 Top 10 finishes but things went downhill for the #22 after post-race inspection following the Richmond win left the team with an encumbered finish and in the end, short of a playoff spot. It was a fantastic year for Wood Brothers Racing as Ryan Blaney, in his second full season, took a giant leap forward not only making the playoffs but getting all the way to the round of 8 before being eliminated. The big off-season news out of the Team Penske camp was the promotion of Ryan Blaney into the seat of the resurrected #12 car as a part of a new three-car team in 2018. The move prompted the Wood Brothers to go out and sign free agent Paul Menard to run the #21 car. Let's jump in and have a look at how each driver performed across the board in 2017 and their 2018 fantasy outlook. 2018 Drivers Brad Keselowski #2 After getting caught up in a wreck at the Daytona 500 last season, Keselowski went on to pick up a win in Atlanta and then four straight Top 5's before picking up another win in Martinsville. While his regular season...
