This year's event will be a bit different than years past as the regular host course, Quail Hollow, will be hosting the 99th PGA Championship later this summer. That opens up a tremendous opportunity for the players to hit the Tom Fazio designed Eagle Point Golf Club. This will be the first Tour event held here but may not be the last after overwhelming positive feedback leading up to the event. Many players are comparing the attention to detail and course management to that of Augusta National. Pretty sick comparison! They hired Marsh Benson to help with some course improvements to get Eagle Point ready for this event including overseeding the course to Rye(used at Augusta). Marsh spent 27 years as the superintendent at Augusta and know what it takes to make a beautiful but very inviting playing environment for the players. The fairways are relatively straight with trees lining them and most holes with sand bunkers or water or both creating some choices that golfers will have to make. The greens are large in size but are very undulating and multi-tiered making the approach shot much harder than it appears on paper. Much like Augusta, most of the greens also have false fronts which can really tighten up the landing zones. After a huge first career victory from trick shot king Wesley Bryan, the PGA Tour heads to the Greg Norman/Sergio Garcia designed Oak Course at TPC San Antonio. Unfortunately for golf fans, we won't be seeing many of the world's elite due to scheduling. We are now just two weeks removed from the Masters, a week away from the newly formatted Zurich Classic and less than a month away from the Players Championship. Patrick Reed(15) and Matt Kuchar(17) highlight the field as the only two golfers inside the Top 20 in the world. Overall, there are only nine of the world's Top 50 players but don't let that get you down as this is where the cheatsheet and added research can really pay off. Let's take a look at the course.   The Course TPC San Antonio (AT&T Oaks Course) Par 72 - 7,552 Yards Greens - Bermuda *Click to enlarge* The Stats & Fantasy Approach My Top 5 Key Stats: Strokes Gained: Off the Tee + Approach Driving Distance Par 4 Scoring Birdie or Better % Strokes Gained: Putting The Oaks course is a longer track with minimal elevation when comparing it to the Canyons of TPC San Antonio. The fairways are harder than average to hit and are surrounded by natural areas where golfers can get into a drop shot situation and lose strokes. Because of these factors, I will be looking at Strokes Gained Off the Tee + Approach as my key stat this week. I will also be sprinkling in Driving Distance with those as length matters on the long course. Looking at the hole by hole stats for the last three years, Par 4...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel – RBC Heritage

In his 74th Major Championship start(record) and 19th Masters appearance(record), he finally broke through with what ended up being a battle of two players(Rose & Garcia). Both made incredible shots as well as mistakes but it was Rose's wayward drive on the playoff hole that opened the door for "El Nino". With Rose missing his Par putt, Garcia had two putts for the win but would only need one to secure his first Green Jacket. I ended up without the Sunday sweat in the Millie Maker I was hoping for(overweight on Spieth) but was 100% entertained by the events that unfolded. Every year when we transition from the Green Jacket to the Plaid Jacket it has me think of my favorite golf sports movie of all time.Happy Gilmore. Happy has a point. The color of the jacket doesn't matter, especially for us daily fantasy golf players. This is the mindset we will have to use this week as the field is just nowhere near what we saw last week in Augusta. Tyrrell Hatton(15) comes in ranked the highest in the Official World Golf Rankings and joins Danny Willett(17) and defending champion Branden Grace(20) as the only players inside the Top 20 this week. After those three, however, the field is fairly balanced with talent as 16 of the Top 50 and 41 of the Top 100 are in the field. Before jumping into the stats, trends and fantasy approach, let's take a look at the course.   The Course Harbour Town Golf Links Par 71 - 7,101 Yards Greens - Bermuda *Click to enlarge* Harbour Town Golf Links is a Par 71 so we...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel- The Masters

If you are looking for some help with either sheet please go check out my YouTube video going over this week's sheet for the Masters.   The Masters One of the most prestigious events in all of sports is finally here as the golf world travels to Augusta, Georgia for the 2017 Masters. It kicks off the Major Championship season in a big way and is the only Major of the four hosted at the same venue annually. It starts with the iconic drive down Magnolia Lane that opens up to the clubhouse and beautiful Masters logo that is cut into the flower bed on the hill out front. The tournament started back in 1934 with Horton Smith winning the inaugural event. It wasn't until 1949, however, when the tradition of the Green Jacket began with Sam Snead claiming the first of his three career Masters wins. Jack Nicklaus holds the record for most Masters wins with six while Tiger Woods and the late Arnold Palmer are tied for second with four Masters wins. The course was originally designed by Bobby Jones with help from Alistar Mackenzie and over the years has seen a ton of changes from many other architects. I found a terrific visual courtesy of Golf Digest of these changes through the years if you are interested in the history of the course. If you are really only interested in winning a MILLION dollars this week, you came to the right place. That's right. DraftKings is giving away a cool Million bucks to the winner of their $33 Milli Maker contest this weekend. The pricing is very soft which makes almost any lineup you construct look terrific pre-tournament so we will need to be very strategic in finding ways to separate us from the field and take home the mother load. Didn't win any tickets or just don't want to risk $33 an entry into a very...

Daily Fantasy PGA Picks for DraftKings – Shell Houston Open

If you are looking for some help with either sheet please go check out my YouTube video going over this week's sheet for the Shell Houston Open.   Shell Houston Open Here we are just one week away from the biggest tournament in golf and a chance to win a cool Million Dollars on DraftKings. Before we get ahead ourselves, however, we have to get through one more week which turns out to be an excellent rehearsal for the Masters. The Shell Houston Open and this course(now named Golf Club of Houston) has hosted this tournament for over 10 years now and tailored the course to represent a very close comparison to Augusta National. From the shaved banks to the overseeded Bermuda greens that come very close to the speed of the Augusta Bentgrass tops. These are just some of the reasons why the tournament director has no problem drawing some of the best golfers in the world. This year we have four of the Top 10 and 15 of the world's Top 50 golfers. Let's take a look at the last five year's winners and the scorecard before jumping into the fantasy approach. 2016 - Jim Herman(-15) 2015 - J.B. Holmes(-16) 2014 - Matt Jones(-15) 2013 - D.A. Points(-16) 2012 - Hunter Mahan(-16)   The Course Golf Club of Houston Par 72 - 7,457 Yards Greens - Bermuda *Click to enlarge*   The Stats & Fantasy Approach My main model will once again be leaning heavily on Ball Striking 2.0 (Strokes Gained Off the Tee+Approach) with a sprinkle of Driving Distance, Par 4 and 5 scoring and of course Birdie or Better %. The rough is short and won't hurt the players who aren't as accurate, for the most part. I say this as there is water in play on about half the holes. Looking at the cheatsheet and the last three years results with year-end...
